After a prolonged and bitter battle, the Tomorrow Alliance finally shook off the Giant Fish Swarm.
Once safety was confirmed, the Tomorrow began recovering the deployed combat forces.
Convoy One and Convoy Two returned one after another via the lift platforms, while the SH-60 “Seahawk” Anti-Submarine Aircraft, Black Hawk Helicopters, and Vanguard Armed Gunship landed in succession on the upper Armor Deck.
The FlightIII-class Destroyer was still deployed outside.
Residents arrived on the Armor Deck in order, beginning their routine deck cleaning and maintenance operations.
Li Ye performed a quick assessment of the losses for the Tomorrow Alliance.
There were few casualties among personnel, mainly because the Tomorrow Alliance possessed strong firepower and had already weakened the swarm through multiple bombing runs before the fish arrived. Additionally, defensive-type cities had held the front line, slowing the charge of the Giant Fish Swarm.
Together with the Tomorrow’s array of aerial and naval combat forces, the Tomorrow Alliance managed to withstand the pressure of the Giant Fish.
Even so, people were still shaken—especially the combat personnel on the Armor Deck of the Tomorrow, who had personally witnessed dozens-of-meters-long Giant Fish falling onto the deck, thrashing violently as they tried to devour people.
Even after being riddled with bullets and lying half-dead on the Armor Deck, these Giant Fish kept their bulging eyes fixed directly on them.
"I'll never eat fish again," came Fang Yong's still-shaken voice over the Walkie-talkie.
The Giant Fish on the Armor Deck of the Iron Whale had been eliminated by the Black Hawk Helicopter.
Even after it had been shot dead, the Giant Fish in the cockpit still kept its bulging eyes fixed on Fang Yong, sending shivers down his spine.
The Giant Fish were mutant creatures from the sea and also dropped loot.
Determined not to waste resources, the group dispatched personnel to collect them.
Judging by the dropped items, this batch of Giant Fish was only at Level 2.
However, no one felt particularly relieved.
The ocean was vast—there were surely higher-level Giant Fish out there.
At that moment, Zhou Xing’s puzzled voice suddenly came through the Walkie-talkie.
“Look at the waters ahead. Strange... why is there a mountain range there?”
“A mountain range?”
Li Ye looked in the direction Zhou Xing had indicated.
Sure enough, in the distance, a massive, undulating shadow had appeared.
“Are there mountain ranges in the sea too?” Fang Yong murmured.
“There shouldn’t be, right?” Yang Zheng said in confusion.
“If it’s a mountain range on a giant island, then maybe,” Li Ye speculated.
While they were still marveling at the sight, the massive shadow suddenly began to move.
The group, mid-conversation, immediately froze.
“That doesn't seem like a mountain range... it's alive...” A fine sheen of sweat appeared on Yang Zheng’s forehead.
Zhou Xing picked up the Walkie-talkie and instructed his Engineer to fire a Flare toward the distance.
As the waters were illuminated, the massive shadow emerged into view.
It was no mountain range.
It was a spine.
Each silvery-white scale was the size of a truck, gleaming coldly under the light.
At a certain point on the water’s surface, a pale, circular object about forty to fifty meters in diameter slowly emerged.
Upon closer inspection, it was the eye of a fish.
It was a colossal cutlassfish.
Its body stretched like a drawn-out galaxy, spiraling in the dark waters, with a length exceeding one thousand meters from head to tail.
At that moment, it was slowly cruising along the surface.
For an instant, it felt as if time had slowed to a crawl.
Fang Yong had his mouth wide open, unable to utter a word. Zhou Xing was wiping the sweat from his forehead at an agonizingly slow pace, as if the movement might alert the colossal creature in the distance. Yang Zheng was frozen in place, his gaze moving ever so slowly.
Li Ye quickly reacted and softly spoke into the Walkie-talkie.
"Everyone slow down the speed of your respective Mobile Cities. Let’s quietly steer away from this sea area and try to avoid alarming it."
As the four of them issued their respective commands, the Mobile Cities began to slowly and quietly depart at an extremely slow pace.
Li Ye stood on the Armor Deck, his gaze fixed on the Colossal Cutlassfish.
He had been able to withstand the previous Giant Fish Swarm, but this time he was truly shaken.
So the sea actually held Giant Fish at the kilometer level.
This might only be the tip of the iceberg.
There might even be kilometer-level swarms or ten-kilometer-class Giant Fish in the future...
At that moment, he suddenly sensed something was off.
That kilometer-class Colossal Cutlassfish—it had only been moving very slowly all this time.
Its movements weren’t even natural, more like a dying creature.
With that thought, Li Ye immediately picked up the Binoculars and looked toward the head of the Colossal Cutlassfish.
He saw its eyeballs rolling in vain, its sharp Mouth stained with blood, slowly opening and closing.
Looking more closely, a section of its body appeared to be bitten by something, pulled beneath the sea.
At that moment, the kilometer-long Giant Fish suddenly began to move.
It twisted and rolled in the sea, its scales reflecting a piercing, icy light like a giant hand stirring the ocean.
Its body was simply too massive. Every struggle stirred up towering waves. The seawater was churned into a turbid whirlpool, emitting a low, thunderous roar.
"Why did that thing suddenly start moving?" Fang Yong’s surprised voice came from the Walkie-talkie.
"Did it notice us?" asked Yang Zheng. "The Electromagnetic Railgun is ready to fire at any time!"
"No," Li Ye shook his head. "This kilometer-class Colossal Cutlassfish... it’s being hunted."
"What?!"
Suddenly, the Colossal Cutlassfish let out a powerful wail, struggling madly. Its Fish Tail slapped out tidal waves, its massive, mountain-like slender body twisted into an exaggerated arc, and its scales peeled off from violent friction, like a silver rain falling into the deep sea.
But all of it was in vain.
If viewed from a god's perspective, beneath the sea there existed an even more massive figure.
Judging from its shape, that too was a Giant Fish.
Before everyone's eyes, the Colossal Cutlassfish was slowly dragged downward by its predator.
A massive, slowly swirling vortex formed at the area of its bitten body, pulling its head and tail into the sea.
Throughout this, the Colossal Cutlassfish continued to struggle.
But the opponent's biting force was fierce and steady—this was just the futile struggle of something dying.
At the final moment, the Colossal Cutlassfish mustered all its remaining strength to raise its head, its giant eyeball reflecting the sky lit up by the Flare.
Then, it was completely swallowed by the giant vortex.
As its kilometer-long body was pulled into the water, it stirred up a near-hundred-meter-high circular wave.
No one knew how much time passed before everything returned to calm.
In the end, only floating silver scales and twisted vortex traces remained on the sea.
Having witnessed it all, everyone was left dumbfounded.
Although Li Ye's face showed a hint of shock, he ultimately nodded slightly.
Clearly, this ocean was far more intriguing than he had imagined.
A few days later.
At the edge of the upper Armor Deck, Li Ye leisurely sipped Cola while enjoying the sea breeze.
The Tomorrow Alliance's first day at sea had been especially thrilling, but the days that followed were smooth, with no obstructions or dangers encountered.
As the sea breeze brushed past, Li Ye opened the System Panel.
At this moment, a new round of Intelligence had been refreshed.
【1. The ocean you're in is the Taranis Ocean, with a total area of approximately 82.53 million square kilometers and an average depth of 4,321 meters. (Intelligence Value: Ordinary)】
【2. After recovering from his injuries, the Emperor Beast Gairas quickly headed to a ten-thousand-meter-level trench in the Canglan Ocean to duel with another Emperor Beast nicknamed "Ashen Flame." (Intelligence Value: Excellent)】
【3. 56 nautical miles southwest lies Storm Island. It is the only Safe Harbor for the human side in the Taranis Ocean. (Intelligence Value: Rare)】
【4. At 145 nautical miles northeast of the Black Fog Sea Region, a large deposit of Level 2 Iron Ore and rare mineral veins has just refreshed underwater. (Intelligence Value: Outstanding)】
【5. The Titan Throne has established a seabed base in the central Devil’s Triangle of the Taranis Ocean for research purposes. According to recent findings from the seabed base, Giant Fish in the Taranis Ocean have shown significant abnormalities. As a result, the base has urgently recalled its researchers deployed across the ocean, with Dr. Mick being one of them. (Intelligence Value: Outstanding)】
【6. Refreshing... (Intelligence Value: Epic)】
【7. Refreshing... (Intelligence Value: Legendary)】
As always, Li Ye quickly processed the Intelligence information.
"No wonder Dr. Mick rushed off, unable to take care of Gairas."
What concerned him most was the phrase “Giant Fish in the Taranis Ocean have shown abnormalities.”
For some reason, he had a bad feeling about it.
Li Ye quickly made a plan.
The Tomorrow Alliance would first head to Storm Island, the Safe Harbor, to rest and gather intelligence. Then they would proceed to the Black Fog Sea Region to mine resources.
After issuing the order, he soon realized something was off.
Back when they rescued the Level 2 Mobile City Silver Courier in the Valley Zone, its lord Zhang Tao had told them that Storm Island was located 510 nautical miles southeast.
But now, the Intelligence mentioned Storm Island was 56 nautical miles southwest.
“The direction’s off... did Zhang Tao get it wrong?” he wondered.
More than two hours later, the doubts in Li Ye’s heart were answered.
The lord of the Silver Courier hadn’t lied.
The location he had provided at the time was indeed accurate.
But the key lay in the fact that Storm Island was a Mobile Island.
This human island resembled a giant whale, slowly moving across the ocean.
Its perimeter was equipped with a massive hull stretching several kilometers, and hundreds of propellers and thrusters at the rear.
The base of this island was composed of hundreds of riveted black Armor Plating, each as large as a plaza. From the seams, viscous coolant would occasionally seep out, casting rainbow-colored oil slicks across the sea surface.
Around the edges of the island were dozens of retractable giant hydraulic pillars. Each pillar ended in a barbed giant grappling hook. Whenever the island was about to anchor, these hydraulic pillars would extend and drive into the seabed rock layers, fixing the island onto the sea like a spider.
What drew the most attention was the colossal Power Engine at the center of the island.
Its appearance was somewhat like a volcano, assembled from countless giant heat-resistant Alloy Panels, its surface covered with heat dissipation fins and steam relief valves, and its base embedded directly into the armored skeleton of the island.
At the top of the Power Engine was an open combustion chamber. Within the circular breach over 200 meters in diameter, the black-purple flames generated from burning fuel twisted the air.
Whenever the feed inlet opened and batches of coal, wood, and fuel were thrown in, the flames would instantly flare up into a white-hot blaze.
Residents from the four Mobile Cities came onto the Armor Decks one after another, gazing with excitement and curiosity at this Mobile Island.
Li Ye looked carefully and discovered that there were various forces stationed on Storm Island.
Level 2 Mobile Cities, Survivor Caravans, and even Bounty Hunters piloting Speedboats...
There was a noise beside him. Li Ye turned to see Lin Wu arriving in his wheelchair.
"With the construction level and production projects of a Level 2 Mobile City, it's simply impossible to build a Mobile Island like this," he said slowly. "From my estimate, it would take at least a Level 4 Mobile City or higher to pull this off."
Li Ye nodded lightly; he naturally agreed with Lin Wu’s assessment.
Looking again more closely, his doubts were quickly resolved.
At the forefront of Storm Island, three massive flags stood tall.
They belonged respectively to the Titan Throne, Iron Oath Brotherhood, and Apocalypse Sect. Clearly, this Mobile Island was a collaborative creation of these three World-class Organizations.
And docked at Storm Island were the Mobile Cities belonging to those organizations.
Li Ye lowered his Binoculars, deep in thought.
Based on his experience in the Western Wasteland Continent and what he had seen in the Taranis Ocean, humanity likely only had these three World-class Organizations.
“Speaking of which, how many World-class Organizations does the monster side have?” he wondered.
The Tomorrow then sounded two long and one short blasts of its horn, signaling a desire to communicate with Storm Island.
Faced with these four unknown Level 2 Mobile Cities, Storm Island was understandably cautious.
They dispatched a Level 2 Light Airship to the Armor Deck of the Tomorrow for negotiations.
The leader was clearly a professor from the Titan Throne. "Hello, my name is Hao," he said.
Li Ye proceeded to have a brief exchange with him.
Just as he and Lin Wu had suspected, this Mobile Island was built collaboratively by the three World-class Organizations.
The reason was simple—they needed to provide the human forces in the Taranis Ocean with a Safe Harbor for rest, intelligence gathering, and resource procurement.
Each of the three World-class Organizations had simply mobilized one Level 3 Engineer-type City, and within a week, the transformation was complete.
The Mobile Island was then jointly managed by a Mobile Island Management Committee consisting of one representative from each party.
"The situation in the Taranis Ocean is indeed dire now," Professor Hao said with concern. "There are many Monstrous Civilizations here, along with Giant Fish, sea beasts, and even Emperor Beasts in the water."
He presented Li Ye and the others with some information.
The greatest threat to the human forces in the Taranis Ocean came from the Monstrous Civilizations.
Upon discovering any human forces, they would immediately dispatch multiple Mobile Cities to attack.
A few years ago, there were still quite a few human forces surviving on many islands in the Taranis Ocean.
But as the Monstrous Civilizations grew stronger, a series of large-scale assaults on human islands began.
To ensure a foothold for human survivors in the Taranis Ocean, the three World-class Organizations decided to launch the Mobile Island Project.
"Although the Taranis Ocean is dangerous, it’s also rich in resources, which is why many Mobile Cities still choose to set out to sea."
As Professor Hao spoke, he looked toward Li Ye and the others.
"So, did you also set sail in search of resources?"
Li Ye slowly shook his head.
"No, we set out to sea to head for the Southern Continent."
