A Righteous Female Knight Never Compromises!-Chapter 61 : Stop staring so lustfully at people’s tails
{Chapter 61} Stop staring so lustfully at people’s tails
“Ba ba ba ba ba…”
The couple’s meal had been served, but Anna was still dazed by the word “couple.”
“Anna, aren’t you going to eat?”
By the time Atala asked this, the strawberry cake in front of Atala was already halfway eaten.
“Travel journals mention strawberry cakes, so this is what they taste like!” Without waiting for Anna’s response, Atala continued to enjoy the cake on her own.
“Meow~” Just as Atala was devouring the cake, a small yellow cat jumped onto the sofa where Anna was sitting and meowed at her.
That sound snapped Anna out of her dazed state.
“Oh?!” Atala stopped eating the cake and stared at the cat with sparkling eyes.
“…” Anna tentatively reached out to pet the cat. The kitten didn’t shy away and allowed Anna to stroke it gracefully, sitting upright like a noble lady being groomed by a servant.
After a few gentle strokes, Anna’s hands moved to the cat’s cheeks, softly kneading them. Then, she moved to the cat’s chin, gently scratching it.
The kitten seemed to enjoy the attention, purring softly with its eyes half-closed.
“So skilled!” Atala looked at Anna with admiration, making Anna feel a little proud. “I want to try petting it too!”
“Then come closer…” Atala quickly scooted over to Anna’s side with such speed that Anna couldn’t even see how she moved. Was this the agility of a D-rank adventurer?
“Hmm, how do you pet it again?” Atala muttered as she placed her hand on the cat’s belly.
“Meow!” The kitten seemed irritated and jumped up, gently batting Atala’s hand with its paws, clearly not pleased.
“Anna…” Atala gave Anna a pitiful look.
“…Where are you putting your hand?” Anna couldn’t help but laugh at Atala’s expression. “Do what I did. Stroke its back, and make sure to go with the fur.”
“Okay… okay!” Carefully placing her hand on the cat’s back, Atala began to pet it. Although the kitten was initially hesitant, it soon relaxed and let Atala continue.
Despite the initial resistance, the kitten quickly grew calm under Atala’s touch, which only made Atala more excited. Her movements became faster.
“Slow down, slow down…”
“Hehe…” Seeing how happy Atala was, Anna smiled helplessly and took a sip of her pure Lucca. It cost a gold coin per glass, even though it was a buy-one-get-one deal, and she didn’t want to waste it.
However, Lucca had a strange sweetness when it cooled down, which didn’t pair well with the strawberry cake. It was hard to swallow.
“But, the Sumi clans… I feel like we haven’t seen many Sumi clans in the kingdom recently.” Anna’s gaze was drawn to the lively animal ears of the waiter, her attention captured by them.
The Sumi, meaning “the fierce,” was the self-proclaimed name of the beast-eared races.
These humanoid beings with animal features were mostly found in the central-northern regions of the continent of Gaia.
There was also a vast kingdom ruled by the Sumi clans, commonly referred to as the “Northern Court.”
The Northern Court, known for its excellent horse breeds and fearsome cavalry, was a powerful force. The Sumi clans could communicate with animals, which allowed them to fight alongside beasts.
In the distant past, before the Northern Court was established and the Carrick Empire ruled half of Gaia, the Sumi clans were often sold into slavery.
Unlike elves, they weren’t as rare, and their average appearance wasn’t as striking. As a result, they were often forced into labor and were derogatorily called “Surolla,” meaning “beast race.”
Anna liked those animal ears. If the slave trade hadn’t been abolished and the Northern Court wasn’t so powerful that no one dared to sell beast-eared slaves, Anna might have bought a cute beast-eared girl.
Of course, the abolition of the slave trade was a good thing. As a righteous and upright knight, Anna had to oppose the evil practice of slavery.
…But beast-eared girls were so adorable.
Their fluffy tails and lively animal ears were charming. Some even had both animal ears and human ears, making them appear more human-like. However, Anna preferred those with only animal ears.
When they were angry, their tails would stand straight up, and when they were happy, their tails would wag back and forth.
“Anna?” Atala’s voice snapped Anna out of her strange fantasies. She coughed lightly and finished her Lucca in one gulp, both to calm herself and to hide her guilt.
“Cats are such cute creatures!”
“Ah… they are indeed cute…”
Those cat-eared girls are such adorable beings…
Although cat-eared girls had nothing to do with cats, they were just so adorable.
“You seem distracted. Are you okay?” Atala looked at Anna with concern, placing her hand on Anna’s forehead.
“What are you doing?” Anna snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Atala in confusion.
“You don’t seem to have a fever… Are you feeling unwell?”
“…No, I’m fine.” Anna forced a smile, realizing she couldn’t keep spacing out. She cleared her throat and raised her glass, only to find it empty.
“Um… waiter!” Anna called out to the waiter in a flustered manner. The waiter who had attended to Anna and Atala earlier seemed to be dedicated to their table and approached.
“Another glass of pure Lucca, please!”
“Of course!”
…
Then, Anna’s gaze was once again drawn to the waiter’s animal ears and tail.
That lively tail… I want to touch it so badly…
…
“Anna.”
“Huh?”
“Stop staring so lustfully at people’s tails.”
“Cough, cough…”
