Chapter 1636: Chapter 308: Ice Prison Dust
If someone who can steal... no, borrow the entire structure of a creation just by touching it comes to the City of Knowledge, what method would they use to quickly get a free ride around the different parts of the City of Knowledge?
The answer is to fly!
Fly directly, using the Dragon Body, touch the base of the local Floating Town, then transform into a human and make a round at the most critical local Guardian Spire, then make a round at some key large Alchemical Facility locations!
From start to finish, it takes no more than ten minutes to touch the points and move to the next island, with no dragging or concern for the surprised gazes of others.
No one’s suspicion, dissatisfaction, or shock can prevent Ian from freeloading the technology of the City of Knowledge, not even if a Fifth Energy Level arrives, he said!
"Isn’t this a bit too conspicuous?"
Dragged along by Ian through high-speed island hopping, even Yisen Gard, a Second Energy Level Sublimator, found it hard to endure. His feeling was as if sitting on a dragon’s back, flying rapidly, and before he could express ’so fast, faster than a Sky Armor!’, he had to land and quickly set off to the local shop to buy specialties.
These specialties, evaluated by Ian’s Foresight View, are of considerable research value, so Yisen had clear targets, taking little time to purchase them.
Some are Alchemical Potions, others are small machines unique to the City of Knowledge, such as the ’Temperature Regulator’ developed by the ’Far-reaching Spire’, which can form a layer of air membrane when carried, ensuring harmonious temperature around the holder even in a volcano.
Another example is the ’Critical Fissure’ developed by the ’Extinguishing Light Spire’, which can instantly create an electromagnetic barrier centered on the user, distorting all bullet trajectories and creating an information blank through electromagnetic pulse.
These specialties are by-products developed when major spire research focuses on primary goals. They themselves use these tools to earn research funds, but Ian believes that compared to those overly ’grand’ projects, these technologies, which have been practicalized and even commercialized, are of utmost reference value.
After all, those Paths of the Dao are too macro, even with a manuscript, it would take considerable time to comprehend, and it takes time for technology to become products and tools... Ian has no intention of swallowing the City of Knowledge whole, he just came to freeload.
So, he happily answered his friend’s question: "Conspicuous or not, do you think anyone can stop us?"
"Ridiculous, we from Dragon Island do things, why should we explain to you!"
That said, Ian did actually greet the City of Knowledge beforehand— and the various Spire Masters thought, ’If Mahdi wants to come, let him, what’s the harm in giving him passage permission,’ a simple idea, so they granted him passage.
The result was that they went too far, various Spire Masters watched with vibrant expressions as a Dark Gold Dragon randomly flew around different regions of the Floating City, even affecting air island traffic.
"If Mahdi weren’t currently considered part of Dragon Island, I would suspect he’s actually a deep operative sent by The Empire’s bitter ploy, now investigating our distribution of sectors at the City of Knowledge, preparing to take us down in one swoop."
In an impromptu internal meeting, the Master of the Luminous Veins Spire lamented.
She is an elderly Elven woman, but unrelated to Canaan Moore, a descendent of the Elves residing in the City of Knowledge since the Lost Epoch: "He’s been back and forth now it’s over forty... oh, now over fifty islands, circling each island’s Guardian Spire and key facilities."
"Though it rather suggests he harbors no malice, just plain curiosity, it does scare the Ordinary residents."
Romani was the first to grant Ian passage rights, and his town where the Melting Iron Spire is located was also thoroughly handled by Ian, even the ’Melting Light Focusing Mirror’ defense facility of the Environmental Protection Tower was toyed with, but he didn’t mind: "Think about it, if a True Dragon really wanted to cause us trouble, it wouldn’t just be this kind of nuisance, at least it would be alarming."
Indeed. Imagining that if it really were a True Dragon causing trouble, the damage would be hundreds of times what it is now, all the Spire Masters present nodded: "Let him be. After all, he’s just looking around, what harm can it do?"
Yes, what harm indeed? Ian’s heart was full of joy from freeloading, each and every Spire Master who granted him passage had filled his favorability, making him determined to spare these researchers if they ever meet on the battlefield!
Unaware that they have spared their lives for now, Ian felt he had hit the jackpot this time, acquiring more technology than at the Imperial Capital Grand Library back then.
However, the Imperial Capital Grand Library cemented Ian’s foundation in Alchemy and Inscriptions, hence why he could rapidly catch up to and even surpass Adalbert’s research speed later, thanks to the constant nurturing back then.
The City of Knowledge also has the Grand Library, but unlike the Imperial Capital’s, it’s a legacy facility from a pre-epoch civilization, edly located within the Domain of Void, a giant Spirit Energy structure similar to the Heterogeneous Research Institute Subspace Maze, requiring a generationally passed-down Grand Library access from the City of Knowledge to visit.
