Chapter 159: I could finally sleep
Chapter 159
ROMEO POV
A small, startled gasp left her lips, her eyes widening as the pain registered. "Romeo—you’re hurting me," she complained, her voice shifting from seductive purr to annoyance.
I didn’t acknowledge the sound. I just turned, dragging her off the bed. She stumbled, scrambling to keep her footing, the delicate sheer fabric of the lingerie offering zero resistance to the brutal force of my pull.
"Let go! What are you doing? I just wanted to talk about the—" she protested, her voice rising in panic. I didn’t look back. I didn’t slow down.
My focus was the door. My jaw was locked, the muscles rigid beneath the towel covering my face. She kept whining, her heels scraping across the marble floor, trying to pull her hand free, but I held her tight.
She had invaded my space, and now she was leaving it by force. I reached the bedroom door, pulled it open with a vicious yank, and flung her out into the hallway like she was a discarded suit jacket.
She gasped, stumbling over the threshold, her exposed legs catching the dim hallway light as she scrambled to catch herself in that dangerous heels of hers.
I turned to my boor back but then I saw the shadow near the column. Katya. My eyes met hers—wet, wide, completely exposed. The immediate, searing fury I felt at Marina instantly sharpened, turning icy.
I had just thrown my future Donna out into the hall, half-naked, and the only person who I didn’t need seeing this was the witness.
Nonna is surely going to know about this.
The rage was now directed entirely at the situation as I slammed my door shut on their faces.
I pushed off the door, visible disgust twisting my features. Unnecessary. Messy. Marina had successfully turned a strategic setback into a humiliating spectacle.
I didn’t care about the Valerios’ feelings, but I cared about the control of my own house. I walked back into the bathroom, reaching past the running water to the sink.
Picking up my leather mask from the sink. I walked out and made my way to the closet to pull out a simple black jogger pant, the soft cotton a relief against my bruised body, and slipped it on, discarding the towel.
I didn’t bother with a shirt. My eyes landed on the bed—the place where Marina had just been, lying like a prize.
The faint indentation in the duvet was another insult. I walked toward it, intent on finally collapsing, forcing myself to sleep for the few hours I had left before facing Antonio.
I was about flinging myself into the mattress when I heard a very loud commotion. Just outside my door. Down the hall.
What the fuck now is going on. It wasn’t a whine. It wasn’t the sound of heels walking away.
It was a sharp, high-pitched demand, followed by the sound of something hitting wood. I swear to the Lords above if it’s that bitch I so done.
My jaw tightened. I thought I had contained her. I thought the slam was enough to send her running home, ashamed, forcing her to realize the fight was over.
She was too desperate, too stupid to understand silence. This is going to contaminate everything.
I stopped, my body instantly snapping from exhaustion to lethal alertness. I wasn’t going to call Antonio to just take this girl out my house.
I wasn’t going to wait. This had to be finished now. Before she turned the little shadow into an ally. I took my mask, pulling it onto my face as I pulled the bedroom door open with a crack.
And there was Marina, sitting her fat ass body on Katya, pinning the girl down. I didn’t know when I shouted the name "Marina" But as soon as my voice got to them, Marina head snapped up ans she scrambled up from katya’s frame.
While Katya crawled herself to a wall. Her hair a mess, her whole posture screaming panic.
I ripped the door open the rest of the way, stepping out into the dim hallway. Bare chest, black joggers, and the mask firmly in place.
Katya’s wide, wet eyes snapped to me first and I could see both relief and terror mixing in a devastating combination.
Marina spun around, her face instantly shifting from furious demands to saccharine sweetness. "Romeo! Oh my God. She was here, lurking—"
I ignored her. I walked toward them, closing the distance, the carpet muffling my bare feet. I stopped a foot away from Marina, looking down at her, the sheer dress suddenly seeming pathetic under the low light.
My voice, when it came, was low, flat, and colder than the marble floor. "Get to your room." The order was directed at Katya. I needed her gone. I didn’t have the time dealing with both of them.
She didn’t hesitate. She scrambled for her door handle behind her, fumbling with the lock. "What?!" Marina shrieked, her voice cracking as the sweetness evaporated.
"Romeo, are you serious? I am your fiancée! She attacked me! You need to deal with her—"
My gaze finally locked back to Marina. I didn’t need to speak.
To be honest, I don’t want to speak, I had no words to say to her as I extended my hand and watched her entire world lit up at the gesture but their was still hint of defense.
Turning away from Katya and the mess, pulling Marina down the hall, away from the scene, away from the witness.
She was still protesting, her voice fading as the elevator doors opened. I only looked back once, just as the doors sealed shut.
Katya was gone. Nonna spy. I didn’t care where Marina went. I cared about the door. It was closed. The witness was contained. Now, I could finally go to sleep.
††
Ok guys, I’m trying to improve my writing so this Chapter is a start lol. Btw Romeo is truly exhausted from that ambush. He is drained both physically and mentally and he doesn’t want to deal with any drama so he just calms the situation by just taking everyone out from his face.
What do you think, please comment.
