Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Eating Breakfast Prepared by the General, Part 1
After expressing their excitement, they all congratulated him and advised him to enjoy his first day of marriage.
Ryzel was confident that they were all eager to share the news they had received from him with others, since they had even asked him if they might do so, to which he quickly consented.
He knew that there was no need to hide it as it was already confirmed online.
They were just in disbelief; that’s why they needed direct confirmation from the parties involved.
They just couldn’t believe for a while that their male god really had a partner already, and that partner was someone they knew.
"Ryzel, what do you want to eat?" Layton Lewis said, breaking Ryzel’s concentration on scrolling through his light brain.
"As I said before I am not really picky. I can eat anything," Ryzel replied promptly.
"Then I will cook a simple meal for us," Layton Lewis stated as he stood up from the bed, ready to leave the room.
"You know how to cook?" Ryzel inquired.
He glanced at Layton Lewis with incredulity.
"Of course I can. Just wait a bit, and then we can have our breakfast," Layton Lewis answered.
"Really?"
"Yes. You can observe if you don’t believe it. We are on the third floor; just go down to the first floor if you want to visit the kitchen," Layton Lewis said while standing up from the bed.
After saying those words, Layton Lewis went out of the bedroom.
Ryzel was left on the bed in disbelief.
Cooking doesn’t really come to mind when looking at Layton Lewis.
The image of Layton Lewis was always of a cool general who was always ready to deploy his soldiers to war. Cooking was very far from his image.
Most sentinels do not know how to cook. Actually, the majority of people in the interstellar universe don’t know how to cook because there is a ready-made nutrient solution available.
Everyone can sustain their bodies by just drinking nutrient solutions.
They no longer bother with cooking because it is inconvenient.
Most individuals only cook when they want to try something new or when there is a special occasion.
The ingredients for cooking were also very expensive, that’s why most people can’t afford having cooked food for every meal.
Instead of buying expensive ingredients most people were still more willing to buy higher quality nutrient solutions.
Most people simply consume nutrient solutions as it is affordable and time saving.
However, guides with low-level physiques can’t continue to take only nutrition solutions because their digestive systems will deteriorate.
When a guide’s digestive system fails, the guide would face numerous difficulties that can potentially lead to his or her death.
Guides were required to eat at least one meal per day to maintain their digestive systems.
Ryzel grew up eating cooked food rather than drinking nutrition solutions due to his parents’ influence.
His mother enjoyed cooking and eating; therefore, he was used to eating meals cooked by her mother.
Aside from being a proficient potion maker his mother was also a proficient cook.
His mother always emphasized how eating food is an important part of humanities culture and can’t be abandoned even as it still has a lot of benefits.
His mother said that eating food always makes people happier and can help people maintain different bonds.
His mother always tried to make time in her busy schedule to cook dishes for every mealtime.
In Ryzel’s memory as long as his mother was around, they always got together to eat the dishes his mother cooked for them.
If his mother was not around or she was too busy, they would order food from outside.
He grew up eating cooked food. That’s why he rarely drank nutritional solutions.
Until now, he still maintained his habit of eating cooked food. He only drank nutrient solutions when he was extremely busy, but Lyre also brought him meals most of the time, so he could still eat cooked meals even when he was busy.
Aside from buying medical materials, most of his scholarship money was actually spent on ingredients or cooked meals.
Natural ingredients suitable for guides are inherently more expensive because there are few of them.
The ingredients are also more difficult to cultivate, and they are unsuitable for large-scale cultivation on different planets. That is why all of the ingredients are pricey, as they are carefully grown.
Being a guide has a lot of restrictions, even with just what they need to eat. That’s why, when he was young, his dream was to become a sentinel or stay as an ordinary person.
He could still remember himself saying that he wanted to be a sentinel or just be an ordinary person when he was young. Unfortunately, he still awakened as a guide.
As a guide, he indeed has a high level of mental power, and he was also proficient in medicine. However, he wasn’t able to do a lot of things because of his identity.
He wasn’t able to marry freely; fortunately, he married Layton Lewis.
He also wasn’t able to enjoy a lot of food as he knew his body couldn’t take it.
His physique level is very low; that’s why he can’t even eat a lot of food.
Thinking of food, he went out of the bedroom to see if Layton Lewis could really cook.
After going out of the room, Ryzel observed the decorations as he was going downstairs.
The design was still minimalistic. The house looked a bit empty without the personal touch of the person who owns it.
It just seems that no one was living in the house, as he can’t really see any indication that the things in the living room or in the corridors were touched.
The house was obviously nice, but it was too clean for a house to live in. He needed to ask Layton if he could change everything in the house, not just the bedroom.
Ryzel didn’t like the feeling the house was giving him, so he wanted to add more things inside.
He also wanted to put more color in the house, as it seems that most of the colors were gray, black, or blue.
Layton Lewis already told him that this would be their house in the future, so he needed to confirm if he could indeed make changes to the house.
If he were to continue living here, he would need to put a lot of things in the house, as it lacks a lot of things to be called a home for two people.
Even though most of the time he stayed in the school’s laboratory doing his research, the apartment he was living in still looked more comfortable compared to the house of Layton Lewis.
At least his apartment can obviously be said to have been his house for the past few years. People who would visit would also know that it is indeed his house.
The house of Layton Lewis isn’t even identifiable. If other people visit, they won’t be able to say that it was where Layton Lewis stayed.
The house is really bare; once he gets permission from Layton Lewis, he will redecorate the whole house for it to be more comfortable.
After looking around, he finally reached the kitchen on the first floor.
He saw Layton Lewis busily cutting vegetables.
His cutting techniques are good. It looks like he indeed knows how to cook, as he was already cooking something while preparing more vegetables.
Ryzel observed Layton Lewis; his expression was still the same, but he was focused on cooking.
It seems that cooking doesn’t really violate his image, as he thought, as he still looked handsome even in the kitchen.
"Ryzel, why are you standing there? I still need at least fifteen minutes more before I finish everything. You can go to the living room first," Layton said after looking at Ryzel, who was standing at the kitchen entrance.
"I’ll just wait here," Ryzel replied. He still wanted to watch how Layton Lewis cooked.
"Then sit on that chair first. Don’t tire yourself by standing there all the time," Layton said while pointing to the chair near the entrance of the kitchen.
Ryzel followed what Layton Lewis said and sat on the chair.
He continued watching Layton Lewis chop vegetables while stir-frying something on the pan.
"General Layton, when did you learn how to cook?" Ryzel asked curiously as he looked at Layton, who was expertly preparing their breakfast.
He was really curious about how Layton learned how to cook.
Most sentinels don’t know how to cook because they can eat anything, especially high-level sentinels like Layton Lewis. They could eat anything, even those that are poisonous.
They also have nutrient solutions to drink, so they don’t have any problems when it comes to food.
"I learned it when I’m still young. My father said that as a sentinel, I needed to learn how to cook so that I could cook for my future partner."
