Chapter 520: Chapter Three Hundred and Seven_1
Faint starlight touched Li Zijun’s face. Droplets of water clung to the strands of hair on her forehead, dripping down to her collarbones.
The undulating mounds of her chest allowed glimpses of the faint crimson beneath...
The wet garment clung to her body, revealing her delicate figure like a half-unveiled fruit, her slender arms gently bending, displaying her graceful posture.
Her bare hands gently gathered her long, water-drenched hair behind her head. The water soaked her light dress, sketching the perfect outline of her body, and she looked at Ji Nanjue with a trace of shyness.
The clothes, not yet fully removed, hugged her body closely, hinting at the flesh beneath. The normally loose dress concealed much, but now it revealed Mount Lu’s true nature.
Ji Nanjue looked at her with evident surprise, then, with a playful twist to her lips, she spoke,
"True to a master-disciple bond, even your lies are cut from the same cloth..."
"Let it be. Call me sister if you like. ’Master wife’ does sound rather old-fashioned."
"..."
Her jade legs, hidden beneath the water’s surface, playfully stirred, kicking up a few ripples.
Then, with a gentle push from her arms, she stood up, devoid of any clothing. The water just barely covered the tops of her thighs, revealing half of her slender waist—lean and smooth, without an ounce of superfluous flesh.
"Take off your clothes. You can’t bathe with them on, can you?"
This light dress had been with Li Zijun for who knows how long, though it bore no stains.
Li Zijun shyly removed the dress from her body, laying it on the shore, and then immediately sat down in the pool, concealing herself securely underwater.
Ji Nanjue did not tease her but sat down by her side instead.
The air was heavy, and the atmosphere before rain always felt particularly tense.
Her small hand gently lifted the water, letting it sprinkle down, before she suddenly spoke,
"You’ve only seen him a few times; are you that certain about your feelings?"
"At your age, it’s normal to have someone you admire, but judging by your behavior, you don’t seem like an impulsive person."
"I’m quite curious. Can you share your thoughts?"
She paused, feeling that her question was a bit too probing, so Ji Nanjue added with a smile,
"Of course, it’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it..."
As she spoke, her eyes were fixed on Li Zijun.
"My thoughts?"
Li Zijun gently pressed her lips together. She did not look at Ji Nanjue but murmured softly.
Gazing at the somewhat murky water, she pondered for a moment before speaking in a low voice,
"Is it necessary to have a reason to like someone?"
"Isn’t it simply that at a certain moment, due to something that deeply moves you, your heart unwittingly harbors someone?"
"Perhaps it’s just one look, or a particular gesture."
Ji Nanjue was taken aback. She heard the sadness in Li Zijun’s voice; though gentle, it carried a heavy sense of frustration for some reason.
She then held Li Zijun tightly in her embrace, cheek against hers.
"Love at first sight?"
Perhaps prior to this, Ji Nanjue would have scoffed at the notion, dismissing it as a baseless fantasy. For two people to decide their feelings after a mere glance could only mean one thing: an infatuation with each other’s physical beauty. But now her heart was gradually coming to accept the term. Her and Su Bei’s life paths had inadvertently merged, and that bond, formed through shared trials and hardships after returning from the brink of death, was undeniably profound. Maybe before that night, her heart had already been imprinted with his image, only her long-sealed heart had never admitted it.
"That’s also true," Ji Nanjue murmured to herself.
Li Zijun smiled bitterly.
It seemed she had been misunderstood. Her feelings for Su Bei were far from the casual way she’d just described; it took nearly a century of rapport before she affirmed her feelings.
"Sister Nan Ji, Zi Jun is getting cold..." Li Zijun said, hugging her arms gently and blinking at Ji Nanjue.
Ji Nanjue smiled warmly at her, her heart filled with mixed emotions. "Go on back then," she said. "Mas... Sister will stay here alone for a bit."
Ultimately, she was a woman. Even though she knew she and Su Bei could never publicly acknowledge their relationship, she still felt a sense of aversion towards any woman who might divert his tenderness from her. Moreover, this woman was his disciple... In both sense and reason, it was utterly against all norms. A peculiar thought crossed Ji Nanjue’s mind: His disciple, my own Master... and I’m caught in the middle? What a tangled relationship... three generations under one roof, was it? It was all Su Dudu’s fault. There’s no right or wrong in matters of the heart. But if there was a mistake, it all stemmed from that fickle heartthrob. Had he not been so frivolous and inconstant, how could he have accumulated so much emotional debt?
—He was the one who enjoyed himself...
Li Zijun waved her hand in front of Ji Nanjue, pulling her out of her thoughts. Ji Nanjue regained her composure, playfully pinched Li Zijun’s delicate nose, and said with a smile,
"You’ve worn that dress for too long. If you don’t mind, wear my dress for the time being."
"..."
She then pointed toward the white gauze dress on the shore.
Li Zijun blinked, then gave Ji Nanjue a sweet smile.
With a soft rustle of fabric, she put on the dress and walked toward the Daoist Temple.
Ji Nanjue watched Li Zijun’s receding figure, letting out a soft sigh.
