Chapter 533

Chapter 533: Chapter Three Hundred and Thirteen_2
"If only I were really a man..."
The light from the pile of firewood in the Daoist Temple was dim and murky.
Su Bei gently wiped the two swords in the Sword Box, feeling a new surge of energy traveling throughout his body, and murmured to himself, "Swords need nurturing."
The Qingping Sword had become second nature to him, but when it came to the Missing Departure, his control was still lacking.
All the myriad laws of the world do not depart from their origins; what countless cultivators sought after was still that great immortality. Only cultivators who achieved minor immortality were truly worthy of the title ’Immortal,’ having initially ’achieved Dao.’ For Sword Cultivators, the principle was that the sword nurtured the person, and the person nurtured the sword. While not as exaggerated as the concept of ’person and sword as one,’ aspiring to the pinnacle of cultivation meant, at minimum, nurturing a Sword Spirit.
A Sword Spirit of their own.
Su Bei slowly closed his eyes, his entire Dantian Knowledge Sea fully opened, his soul drifting out to merge with the heaven and earth, affording him a view of himself seated cross-legged. His soul wound around the Missing Departure for a moment before returning to his body. Touching the sword once more, he could feel it was somewhat more intimate than it had been just a moment prior.
Satisfied, Su Bei nodded, then picked up the Longsword, skewered a piece of pork on it, and began roasting it over the fire, "The sword has been well nurtured."
Missing Departure: "..."
The flowers shone brightly, the moon was dim, and a light mist veiled everything.
Footsteps quietly approached from behind Su Bei, and in the flickering firelight, a familiar wisp of white gauze could vaguely be seen. With no moon in the sky, everything around was somewhat dim.
The corners of Su Bei’s mouth curled into a smile. Without even looking, he swept the woman into his arms by her waist, laughing, "Ji Baoer, why have you come back alone?"
"Tell me! Where did you leave Zi Jun?..."
As he spoke... his touch was already beginning to explore upwards. Pressing down upon her, his hand glided along the shell of her ear... following the contours of her body.
Li Zijun’s eyes widened in shock, her mind a blank slate as Su Bei simply pulled her over. Feeling his skilled hands roaming over her body, she was momentarily rendered incapable of thought. She had just bathed, still carrying a fragrance, creating a romantic atmosphere within the Daoist Temple. Her complexion gradually grew rosy, but it was unclear if it was due to the embarrassing actions or the wrist held firmly in his grasp.
Su Bei frowned slightly, beginning to realize that something was amiss.
Clearly, Ji Baoer should feel different... and there wasn’t such an inexperienced sensation; he could even feel the woman beneath him trembling.
"Mas... Master."
Li Zijun finally regained her senses from the shock, her small hands pushing at Su Bei in a panic as she nervously said, "I’m not Sister Nan Ji... I’m Zi Jun..."
There was a hint of grievance in her voice as she turned her body to the side, biting her lip.
Su Bei instantly froze, leaning down and staring blankly at the woman before him.
What inhumane act had he just committed?
The atmosphere turned awkward. Su Bei wanted to comfort her by patting her head, but fearing she might misinterpret the gesture, his hand froze in mid-air. He swallowed hard and said, "Disciple, I didn’t know it was you..."
"You were wearing Nan Ji’s clothes, and the firelight was dim..."
Li Zijun looked down and mumbled a response, her facial expression unclear.
"Master... could you please get off first..."
Su Bei gave her an awkward smile, then gently rose to his feet, touched his nose, and after a moment’s thought, said, "I truly didn’t know..."
As he spoke, he grasped her delicate wrist, intending to pull her to her feet.
The flickering firelight cast upon the faces of the two, each preoccupied with their thoughts. For some reason, as Su Bei gazed at Li Zijun’s crystal-clear, jade-like visage, his heart surged with impulse, and he felt his heartbeat quicken. Compared to Nan Ji, his actions just now had been undeniably bold. The physical sensation Li Zijun gave him when he pressed down on her was markedly different. Yet, that subtle and fleeting distance wrapped in tenderness aroused a strange feeling in Su Bei.
As if forgetting the previous discomfort, Su Bei still raised his hand and extended two fingers, tentatively gliding towards Li Zijun’s face. Pausing for a moment, he finally made contact with her smooth, jade-like cheek.
Li Zijun’s delicate body trembled lightly, her bright eyes like stars. She managed to create a slight gap, but this time, she did not react vehemently, closing her eyes and allowing Su Bei to gently caress her beautiful face with two fingers.
Gentle and smooth like jade.
Suddenly, Su Bei saw from the corner of Li Zijun’s eyes, pearl-like teardrops slipping down her snow-white cheeks. The swaying firelight reflected the glistening tear tracks.
Su Bei’s hand paused, then gently slid to Li Zijun’s delicate chin, tilting it upward to gaze at her breathtaking face. With two fingers, he gently wiped away her tears, softly saying, "I’m sorry."
"I..."
Li Zijun’s eyes looked at Su Bei, filling with tears.
She didn’t know why she was crying. Was it because of his transgression? Or because their relationship was doomed from the start?
Seeing the brief distraction in his eyes, Li Zijun didn’t know how to react.
Was it resignation?
"Flowers in the mirror, the moon in the water."
Li Zijun gently raised her head, then her lips curved into a smile, hiding the last tear in her eyes, "Your disciple doesn’t blame you, Master."
"The skirt was a gift from Sister Nan Ji, which made you mistake me for someone else..."
Su Bei gave her a sheepish smile, suppressing the dreadful thought that had just arisen.
Why were all his disciples so odd? Each seemed to share a connection with him as if years had passed, a kind of indescribable emotion lingering between them.
Just then, the door opened.
Ji Nanjue, dressed in a different garment, walked in, then with a curious expression, surveyed the scene before her. Barefoot, she sat down beside Su Bei and began wiping lingering water droplets from her skin.
A flicker of confusion crossed her eyes. Usually, he would jump at her, so why was he so calm today? What had transpired between them while she was away? The atmosphere was so odd.
"Husband, what’s wrong? You seem distracted?"
Su Bei smiled at her and then held Ji Nanjue in his arms. In Su Bei’s embrace, Ji Nanjue sensed his complicated emotions, and she kissed him gently on the corner of his mouth. She had been thinking a great deal just now. She knew their path forward would be long and arduous. The world’s indifference would make their journey together exceedingly difficult, but being able to enjoy this brief moment of tranquility brought her a measure of satisfaction. Her mindset was gradually changing.
——Not asking for a lifetime of togetherness, but grateful for the time shared.
"It’s nothing."
"It’s late, time to sleep..." Su Bei said, touching her hair.
Ji Nanjue stood up, took hold of the distracted Li Zijun’s hand, and closely examined her own dress on Li Zijun, nodding, "Zi Jun looks quite good in this dress..."
Li Zijun blushed deeply.
Then Ji Nanjue glanced at Su Bei and said, feigning aloofness, "As punishment, you’ll sleep outside tonight, and I’ll cuddle with Zi Jun."
"Alright with you, Zi Jun?" She winked at Li Zijun.
Li Zijun was taken aback. She looked up at Su Bei, then at Ji Nanjue beside her, and said with some reluctance, "That doesn’t seem right... it’s going to rain outside."
Su Bei understood that Nan Ji was trying to help him save face, probably noticing the awkwardness from before. A warmth spread through his heart. He looked at Ji Nanjue and said, "I’ll go outside..."
Just then, the sound of faint footsteps approached from not too far away.
The sudden noise made everyone frown, and Su Bei asked with some confusion, "Who could it be at this hour of the night?..."
