An Unusual Life Beginning with Evil Spirits-Chapter 129 : A Peaceful Life

Chapter 129

Volume 4: High School Arc - “I” Come to Find You~
All in all, no matter what, this was how things stood right now.
Although I had lost my super strength, at least I hadn’t lost anything else.
On the other hand, I began to notice a small change in my body.
Not my body, but my Evil Spirit Form.
As for what kind of change, even I wasn’t too sure yet.
But I could sense it — this was because I hadn’t completely detached from the Mirror World, and my Evil Spirit Form had taken on a trace of the Mirror World’s aura.
I couldn’t put into words what kind of feeling it was.
But that wasn’t important — what mattered was that I had school today.
I didn’t wait for Shao He and Reina to wake up.
While it was still dark, I headed straight for the kitchen.
Wearing headphones, listening to the music I liked, I thought about what kind of surprise to give Shao He and Reina today.
Because I cared a lot about food, the kitchen was quite large.
It even had a seafood tank, specifically used for storing ingredients.
I scooped out a few big abalones and prepared some bird’s nest.
While the bird’s nest was soaking, I looked around for lotus seeds but didn’t find any.
However, there was still some leftover rice, so I threw everything into the pot to make abalone and bird’s nest congee.
Then I steamed some ribs with fermented black beans and prepared a few cold dishes.
While cooking, I truly experienced what it meant to be as meticulous as a Japanese girl.
In the cupboards, all kinds of kitchen tools were neatly sorted and organized.
Every item had its specific place.
The cabinets were clean and tidy, without a speck of dust or disorder.
Stepping into the kitchen felt like walking into a newly renovated room.
It was so spotless it seemed as if it had never been used.
The abalone and bird’s nest congee was made with broth and leftover rice — the taste was pretty good.
As I busied myself, the sky gradually brightened.
Since I couldn’t sleep last night anyway, I figured I’d just make good use of the time.
I carved some flowers from radishes and prepared a few servings of abalone from Ah Yi (maternal aunt).
Well… for girls, this stuff was great for beauty and nourishing yin, so eating more wouldn’t hurt.
Once I finished cooking, I laid everything out on the dining table and covered it with warming lids.
Then I sat at the table, scrolling through my phone while waiting for the two of them to wake up.
Normally, these two woke up within a few minutes of each other.
They probably had fixed wake-up times.
So today was no different.
I glanced at the clock on my phone — exactly five o’clock.
Just as the digits flipped to 05:00, the alarm sounded from Reina’s room.
The sound wasn’t loud, but it was probably pretty audible inside the room.
Moments later, the first door to open was Shao He’s.
As the door opened, I sensed the person inside suddenly paused.
Her leg, which had already stepped out, froze for a moment.
The next second, Shao He suddenly flipped out of the room.
In the middle of her spin, she landed in a half-kneeling position on the ground, aiming a gun at me.
“Don’t move!!”
I watched the entire sequence of her actions.
Seeing her stiffen slightly after spotting me, her face full of surprise, I… slowly raised my hands.
“Captain, don’t shoot. It’s me.”
For a moment, the room fell silent…
Shao He and I just stared wide-eyed at each other.
The one who finally broke the awkward silence was Reina.
She walked out of the room, still yawning, with a sleepy look on her face.
“What are you… doing?”
Reina blinked at the half-crouching Shao He with the gun.
Then she turned her head to look at me.
Tilting her head, looking adorably confused, she asked,
“Cops and robbers game?”
“Ahem… nothing.”
Shao He cleared her throat awkwardly and stood up from the floor.
She nonchalantly patted the nonexistent dust off her stockings.
Then she skillfully clicked the safety back on the gun and holstered it at her waist.
Reina glanced at Shao He, then turned her gaze to me.
Finally, her eyes settled on the dining table.
“Miss… all this?”
“I made it. Just a little thank-you for how well you two take care of me. Come on, let’s eat!”
Naturally, I lowered my raised hands, and then the two of them came over to the dining table.
Looking at the dishes on the table, the two exchanged glances.
That meal, of course, ended amid their compliments.
Whether as a boss or as a chef, I had done my best.
My current cooking skills were at least at the level of a senior culinary technician.
So the flattery from the two had some genuine awe mixed in as well.
Anyway, I couldn’t really know how they felt.
After all, I had never experienced what it was like for the boss to cook for me.
Back when I was working, it was always me cooking and the boss eating.
When has a boss ever cooked for the chef?
After breakfast, naturally I didn’t need to help clean the table.
I chatted with Shao He and Reina for a bit.
Actually, there wasn’t much to talk about.
I wasn’t really a sixteen-year-old girl.
Shao He had a cold personality, not suited for girly chats.
If I tried to talk to her about firearms, she’d always grumble something like “Japanese and American movies are killing people.”
As for Reina, although she was about my age, her family had been through so much.
She had become a lot quieter than before.
She wasn’t the talkative type either.
Because of this, there was always a kind of peaceful feeling in the house.
When the three of us sat together, we hardly had any topics to talk about.
I liked being a homebody.
Shao He’s interests were a mystery.
And Reina didn’t like to talk about herself.
Still, I had gotten them both used to drinking a bit of tea after breakfast every day.
Just like that, the morning passed.
Back in my room, I changed clothes, packed up everything I needed, and got into the 760Li that had been repaired and returned.
I headed straight to school.
As for that Maybach, I hadn’t returned it either.
I just left it at the villa.
Once it’s in my hands, it’s mine!
Ahem!
In another two years, I could take the driving test.
Sitting in the car, I thought about these things while making my way to school.
When I got to school, I was naturally greeted warmly by Bai Juanjuan.
This girl came flying at me in a bear hug.
She slammed into me so hard that I almost lost my breath.
Holding my chest where I’d been hit, I grumbled at the silly girl.
But then I noticed the strange looks from the boys in class.
This made me feel embarrassed, and I quickly lowered the hand I’d been using to rub my chest.
“Being a girl is really inconvenient… there are so many things to watch out for.”
Sitting in my seat, I grumbled again.
But Bai Juanjuan didn’t think the same way.
“No, being a girl is great… you can play with dolls, and say whatever you like.”
“Ah ah ah~ yeah…”
All I could do was go along with Bai Juanjuan’s words.
“Hmm~ Yunyan, you’re just humoring me, aren’t you?”
Hearing my response, Bai Juanjuan puffed out her cheeks angrily.
Her apricot eyes glared at me.
But no matter how you looked at it, it wasn’t scary at all — in fact, it was kind of cute.
“N-no I’m not~”
