An Unusual Life Beginning with Evil Spirits-Chapter 170 : Is it him?

Chapter 170

Volume 4: High School Arc - “I” Come to Find You~
Looking at the pale color on Shao He’s face, I couldn’t help but ask out of concern, and Shao He shook her head.
“It’s… it’s nothing. I just need to rest a bit.”
Hearing my voice, Reina also turned her head and glanced at Shao He.
Seeing her face pale, her initial excitement instantly faded by more than half.
With a still slightly flushed face and a hint of apology, she asked:
“Sister Shao He… do you not like these thrilling rides?”
Shao He’s face was pale at first, but after hearing this, a slight blush actually appeared.
“Who… who said that? As a bodyguard, would I be afraid of these things? Hehe… you’re overthinking. I’m just a little unwell, that’s all.”
Looking at the forced calm expression on Shao He’s face, Reina and I exchanged a glance.
Shao He probably really didn’t like this kind of weightless feeling.
Maybe it was because she usually took things too seriously.
Someone who treated everything with such seriousness might genuinely dislike the sensation of losing control.
“Then, let’s take a break.”
After riding the pirate ship and the giant pendulum, it was about time to rest.
Over forty minutes had passed, and Xu Han should be calling me back soon.
“Perfect, there are snacks and drinks over there. Let’s sit for a while.”
I pointed to the rest area.
There were lots of snacks and street food sold there.
The weakness from using the Evil Spirit Form still hadn’t completely worn off.
Eating something now could at least help me regain some energy.
Reina had a bit of disappointment in her eyes but didn’t refuse, and Shao He seemed eager for a break.
That left me speechless.
As a bodyguard who could drive, sail, and even fly a plane, Shao He didn’t like thrill rides?
That was truly surprising.
Just like that, the three of us headed straight to the rest area.
I ordered a whole bunch of delicious food.
Whether they ate or not, I was definitely going to eat.
Reina wasn’t surprised by my appetite, and neither was Shao He.
But the looks from the people around us made me feel like some kind of rare beast, all wide-eyed with astonishment.
Well… not unexpected.
After all, anyone seeing a girl in front of more than a dozen plates would naturally show that kind of expression.
I stuffed my mouth full with delicious food—fried skewers, spicy hot pot, grilled chicken wings, grilled corn—you name it!
I didn’t turn anything down!
Quickly scarfing down everything, just as I was about to take a break, my phone rang.
The  ☆ ☆ ☆ phone was on vibrate to avoid disturbance, so in the noisy amusement park, neither Shao He nor Reina noticed.
I hung up the call and casually picked up the phone as if nothing had happened.
Pretending to scroll through my phone, I actually typed with the Evil Spirit Form and quickly sent a text to Xu Han, telling her I couldn’t talk now and to send the information to my email.
Xu Han replied with a simple “OK.”
The next stretch of time was just more playing.
We almost visited the entire amusement park.
When we got on the roller coaster, Shao He didn’t react the same way she did with the pirate ship and giant pendulum.
The kind of thrill she feared was really peculiar.
But on the merry-go-round, I noticed Reina seemed disinterested, while Shao He’s face, after the ride, was full of satisfaction.
That kind of smile filled with contentment, which she couldn’t even hide, instantly exposed the girlish heart hidden beneath her seemingly twenty-something, steady and cold demeanor.
Back in the car, I got into the back seat directly, and Reina naturally sat in the front.
On the way back, Reina seemed a bit reluctant to leave.
Shao He’s face was also full of smiles.
I didn’t feel like chatting much, so I picked up the Surface Pro and began reading the email I received.
Along the way, I occasionally joined the conversation with a sentence or two, but most of my attention was on the laptop.
When the car returned to the villa area, I finally put the computer down.
In my heart, only one sentence echoed.
‘It really is him!’
These four words flashed through my mind in an instant, and the information about ‘Wang Ding’ also rapidly passed before my eyes.
Wang Ding, male, Han ethnicity, twenty-six years old, intermediate programmer in the software programming department of Tianding Everything Co., Ltd.
This information wasn’t much different from that of an ordinary person, but what confirmed it for me was his connection to these victims.
Looking at the photo, although I had never seen this person before, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
I could almost be certain that he was someone all the victims had known.
First, his relationship with Zhang Yang.
They were colleagues, and at work, he seemed to look after Zhang Yang quite a bit.
Second, his relationship with Bai Yao and Lili.
From his resume, there was basically no trace of any connection with Bai Yao or Lili.
However, Lili’s phone contained his number, and the DV recorder also captured this—Lili was chasing after someone named “Wang Ding.”
I didn’t know how they had met, but the fact that Lili had Wang Ding’s number was enough proof.
Lastly, his connection with Old Zhang.
Without a doubt, Wang Ding’s resume confirmed everything—his address, his parents, all matched perfectly with Old Zhang’s memories.
However, whether from the resume or based on Xu Han’s personal evaluation, it was evident that Wang Ding had a good-natured personality.
No matter how I thought about it, I couldn’t see how he could’ve done such a thing.
But now, the clues were right in front of me.
I had no reason to overturn my own reasoning.
So, I had basically locked onto him.
Was he the person this mission was after?
That, I wasn’t entirely sure.
But for now, Wang Ding… was the only lead I had.
All the evidence pointed to this man.
A strong killing intent surged in my gaze.
In the fear of an unknown method of murder, an intense urge to kill had already started to rise in my heart without me realizing it.
Looking at the seemingly honest-looking photo on the resume in the computer, the killing intent rising from my heart made me want to rush over and kill him immediately—to prove whether my reasoning was right.
“Found… you.”
Just as I said these four words, suddenly, the two people in front froze for a moment.
Right after that, I realized something was off.
I lowered my head and swept my eyes toward the front seats from the corner of my vision.
Sure enough, at the exact moment I said those words, a strong trace of suspicion flashed in Shao He’s eyes, while Reina, by contrast, didn’t seem as suspicious—just a little curious.
“Ojou-sama, what did you… find?”
Hearing Reina’s voice, I quickly opened a “spot the difference” image using the Evil Spirit Form.
Since the operation was done through the Evil Spirit Form, the two of them couldn’t see my finger movements, so they wouldn’t suspect I was hiding anything.
Even though this life kind of felt like that of a secret agent, I didn’t really dislike it.
Men… always want to have a few little secrets of their own.
Hmm… I suddenly remembered the secret base I built in the woods when I was a kid.
