Yuxi’s words caused everyone’s expressions to change drastically.
The middle-aged woman among the family of three hugged her son with a horrified look on her face. “What should we do then? Are we going to be trapped on this island forever?”
“That’s impossible, right? Our families know we’re traveling. With such a massive tsunami, there’s bound to be someone coming to rescue us!”
“Yeah, right. This must be temporary. There are so many people on the island, how could there be no rescue?”
“But the government can barely take care of itself. How could they send out rescue teams?”
“It’s fine. Even if thy can’t help us, our country will definitely send aid!”
“But how long will that take?”

The group began to chatter all at once, while Fang Zichen frowned deeply and remained silent.
Among the people in the room, Fang Zichen, Meng Lu, and Mangmang were in the worst situation. When they participated in the water activities, their belongings, including their phones, were in storage lockers. All their luggage and valuables were lost in the tsunami. The bread and water in their hands were given by Yuxi earlier. In this situation, everyone had limited food supplies. They had initially hoped to go to Sea view mountain with the rescue team to get some provisions and then wait for external rescue.
But now, with no external rescue coming to L Island in the short term, it meant that food, water, and medicine were all limited. They didn’t know how long they could last at Sea view mountain.
Meng Lu didn’t think as far ahead as Fang Zichen. She only knew that she was tired and hungry now. While the bread could fill her stomach, it didn’t taste good, and there was only one bag for the three of them to share.
Her beautiful and expensive dresses, shoes, bags, skincare, and makeup products, along with her phone, wallet, and passport, were all lost in the tsunami. She now had nothing, not even shoes, and felt completely insecure and terrified. “So, should we still go to Sea view mountain? When we came over just now, the third batch of rescue transfers had already left. I heard there’s only one last rescue boat left. If we don’t go and stay here…”
She didn’t need to finish the sentence; everyone knew that with the hotel staff gone, there was no point in staying.
“We definitely have to go to Sea view mountain,” Lin Wu said, calming everyone down again. “The water and electricity here could be cut off at any time, and the supplies are being moved to the mountain. There’s no point in staying here.”
“Then what are we waiting for here?” Meng Lu asked again, hoping to get some food and water while the hotel staff were still around. She also wanted to see if there were any shoes or clothes she could change into since she was only wearing a t-shirt over a swimsuit, without even a pair of pants.
“I plan to get some supplies first and then go to Sea view mountain,” Lin Wu finally got to the point. His plan was not to take the rescue team’s boat but to use the old speedboat Yuan Ning had brought from the sea.
They had their own boat and could go to a mall that hadn’t been flooded yet. While the rescue team was busy saving people and couldn’t search all the supplies, they could grab some food and water first, then go to Wanghaishan, find a hotel or guesthouse nearby, and stay together to look out for each other.
“Is the speedboat still there?” someone asked.
“The speedboat key is with me,” Yuan Ning replied. She had taken the key when she got off the boat, without anyone noticing. Additionally, she had made some adjustments to the boat last night. Even if someone found the key, they wouldn’t be able to start it. Realizing something was wrong, she had already made preparations, thinking about her missing relatives.
Time was running short. Lin Wu didn’t want to drag things out. He directly asked everyone to give their responses on whether to follow the rescue boat or go search for supplies.
Everyone was smart and immediately agreed to his plan, preparing to search for supplies together. The people in this room knew that Lin Wu was a surgeon who had been saving people despite being ill since the tsunami struck yesterday. Even though they didn’t all know each other well, they trusted Lin Wu, so their attitudes were consistent.
After Lin Wu finished explaining the departure time, everyone quickly left the room to prepare. Fang Zichen wanted to talk to Yuxi, but Meng Lu pointed out that they had limited time and needed to find a backpack and shoes.
Finally, only Yuan Qi, her son, Yuan Ning, and Yuxi were left in the room with Lin Wu.
Lin Wu looked at Yuxi. “What about you?” He noticed that apart from translating, she hadn’t said much.
Yuxi had plenty of supplies and could choose either option. Her main concern was how to leave L Island. If she stayed at the hotel, she might miss the chance to leave. After thinking it over, she decided it was better to stick with the group.
Since she was following the group, she needed to symbolically gather some supplies, even if she didn’t lack them. Otherwise, standing out would only raise suspicions.
So, she nodded. “I’ll go with you.”
Lin Wu went to his room to pack, while Yuxi had nothing to prepare and stayed in the room. Yuan Qi left her son, Yuan Yuan, behind and quickly went upstairs to pack some clothes and items for Yuan Ning.
Yuan Ning, who had already changed into Yuan Qi’s t-shirt and long pants, got up and took another t-shirt from Yuan Qi’s backpack. She tried to tear it to wrap around her treated abdomen.
“Let me do it.” Seeing Yuan Ning’s fingers trembling in pain from pulling on her wound, Yuxi took the shirt, tore it, and helped wrap it around her abdomen.
“Thank you,” Yuan Ning said heavily, touching her son, who was anxiously leaning against her. “And thank you for saving my sister and Yuan Yuan.”
“I just reminded them.”
“Maybe it was just a reminder to you, but to me, it meant saving my two most important family members.” Yuan Ning looked at her with a serious expression. “I’m sincerely grateful to you.”
She didn’t say much more, feeling that talking too much would seem insincere given her current condition. But she had remembered this incident and would help Yuxi if she ever needed it in the future.
Ten minutes later, Lin Wu appeared with a small suitcase. He didn’t have a backpack, but the suitcase wasn’t too large, so he managed to fit what he needed inside and carried it down.
Simon, who had changed out of his hotel uniform and was now wearing a t-shirt and shorts with a backpack, appeared with him.
“He’s coming with us,” Lin Wu explained briefly.
So, he’s already trusted?
