Assistant Manager Kim Hates Idols-Chapter 320: 1st Batter (2)

Chapter 320

≫ UA, you heinous bastards
Giving Captain Choi Jeho a sports concept? The eldest Choi Jeho?
I can’t stand for this. I’m going to sue
└ When I saw that he was the only one with a ‘C’ on his uniform, I thought, “Could he be the captain…?” Describe the heart of a Sparkler when they realized it was true. (113 points)
└ Jeho has always been the senior, though.
└ You know how… Iwol is the heavenly eldest hyung? It’s a similar feeling.
└ I don’t get it, but I get it, and that’s why it’s funnyㅋㅋ
└ This newbie who became a fan after ‘Unmanned Rest Area’ is flustered… Choi Jeho, you… so this is who you are…
≫ I did pray for Rose Quartz Cheonghyeon after we got Serenity Cheonghyeon last time, but
I never thought he would actually arrive. I’m sorry for being a greedy otaku, but it’s seriously so f*cking cool. Cheonghyeon, you’re the best
└ In the teaser, Burgundy Jeho was the most shocking, but after watching the MV… I can’t forget Spring Cherry Blossom Cheonghyeon…
└ Why go to a cherry blossom festival when you can just watch Lee Cheonghyeon in the OAHN MV
≫ Seongbin, congrats on escaping the leader role
Even though you’re the vice-captain, this is how you distance yourself from power, one step at a time
I’m cheering for your retirement, but you can’t retire from being an idol, got it???
└ Isn’t it funny how the kids all got roles that are weirdly opposite to their own personalities this time?ㅋㅋㅋ
└ I could handle sociable Joowoo and rebel Cheonghyeon, but lazy grasshopper Iwol made me lose itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
└ Never seen Iwol lie around this much in an MV before
≫ Am I the only one who can’t get over the fit of these pants right now?

Let’s look at them together. Guess whose legs they are. Winner gets a free chance to stan Spark
└ Why are all these legs eight feet long?
└ Baseball is a beautiful sport after all…
└ Why is the prize a chance to become a fanㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
└ I get it, though. If I saw those legs, I’d become a fan too
└└ So, did the op become a fan?
└└└ I’ve been a fan since debut
└└└└ Sorry, didn’t realize you were that loyal
└└└└└ ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ what is this conversationㅋㅋㅋ
└ I’m being serious, who’s number 3? That’s not an idol, that’s an athlete
└└ That’s Jeho, the team’s center! He’s a fitness fanatic and does the StairMaster for an hour ^^ And he can lift a log by himself
└└ Why suddenly mentioning a logㅋㅋ
└ Everyone’s thighs are… whew…
└ I have a lot to say, but I’m holding back because I feel like I’ll get banned if I say it.
└ This is a real emergency, who is number 4?
└└ That’s Kiyeon, the team’s maknae!!!
└└└ How can the maknae have that kind of power?
≫ Spark’s new song seems easy to listen to
It’s not super easy-listening, but it feels like the kind of song that will pop into your head often?
└ For me, if I had to say, I’m slightly against this one… It feels too similar to their existing songs
└ To a sports fan, songs with this vibe are rare and good ㅠㅠ There aren’t many songs that give off this summer+youth+uplifting feeling ㅠㅠㅠ
└ To the commenter above, listen to all of Spark’s 1st and 2nd album title tracks and B-sides! There’s probably a lot you’d like
New posts poured in every time I refreshed the page. I read through the posts with a sense of pride.
“That’s petty. Monitoring all by yourself.”
“Our Cheonghyeon, are you confident your mentality won’t break if you see hate comments?”
“Can’t you stop looking at those things too, hyung?”
“I’m kidding. We don’t have many hate comments.”
After Kang Kiyeon’s hate-comment file deletion incident and the counseling session, I had created my own set of guidelines.
Things like not entering communities with an excessively high ratio of critical posts, and ignoring posts written by accounts whose sole purpose was continuous slander.
Perhaps because of that, the number of aggressive posts that hit me in the gut had significantly decreased. After seven years of taking in all the negativity at once, I decided not to add any more to the pile.
“Kiyeon, people are saying we picked the right main character for our MV.”
I relayed the review results to the one who was forbidden from monitoring but was simultaneously more curious about the reactions than anyone else.
≫ I think Spark cast the center for their new MV really well
He’s a perfect fit for the concept
└ Kiyeon’s face is so intriguing… he looks sharp as a knife, but there’s a boy inside
└ Seeing him as center so often really shows how good of a dancer he is
≫ @CrowWhoCriesWheneverKiyeonLooksPerfect
Caw!!! Caw!! Caaaaaaaw!!!!!!!!!
└ This is amazing, they’ve been doing this every 5 minutes.
└ At this point, wouldn’t their account get suspended because people think they’ve been hacked? lol ㅠㅠ
≫ Kiyeon, whose ability to pull off concepts is insane for this title track
From the uniform to the summer school uniform to the tank top, there’s nothing that doesn’t suit him
It’s certain that his personal color is summer boy
└ Our kid’s personal color is… summer…?
└ Sparklers getting thrown off over the weirdest things
Kang Kiyeon cleared his throat and turned his head away. He must be shy about compliments.
A few speculative posts were added to the mix.
≫ I just realized that OAHN could also mean ‘own a home now’
Is it too much of a stretch to think this ‘home’ is home plate?
└ Our opponent is Kim Iwol. You never know what kind of foreshadowing he might have sprinkled where
└ But I think that might be right?? We usually call home base just ‘home’, right?
≫ you know, there’s a phrase ‘end on a high note’
The way the OAHN MV finishes with ‘End’…
Maybe the title tracks are connected to each other.
≫ ‘End’ could be a story about after their high school baseball days are over
If none of them are playing baseball anymore, I’ll cry
└ I won’t accept any ending other than all six of them making the national team… I’ll stage a protest in front of UA
Thanks to this, it was fun to imagine how the atmosphere would change when the next teaser was released. Though, that was only possible if the next result turned out well.
‘The earliest schedule is the radio show, and starting next week, there are music shows, fan signs, a fill-in for the ‘Worry Sharing Session.’ And what else was there…?’
The closer the promotion period got, the more packed my calendar became. The variety shows we were scheduled to appear on had also been more or less outlined, but with everything from fill-in gigs to additional casting offers, it was like going through the ordeal of forcing more books onto an already full bookshelf.
Normally, projects ended once they were announced. But in the world of idols, the project began with the announcement. It had been over a year since our debut, but I still couldn’t quite get used to it.
‘In this state, will I be able to handle all the issues that will arise in the future?’
Now that I had learned that trying to solve everything in the world by myself was just a form of stubbornness, wasn’t it time to ask others for help? That was what I thought.
The most trustworthy person in Spark was Jeong Seongbin. As I had originally planned, I considered recruiting Seongbin in preparation for Choi Jeho’s injury, but…
“Members, before we start practice again, I have one announcement to share!”
…watching Seongbin gather the members as soon as the break was about to end, I cleanly gave up on that idea. I couldn’t add another burden to a kid who was already so busy.
Manager Chanyoung was busy, and Ms. Jukyung was even busier. If Manager Daeyeon wasn’t in his adjustment period, I would have tried cautiously asking him.
No matter how much I thought about it, there was no suitable person. If only Assistant Manager Hwang or Manager Song were here at a time like this… No. If Manager Song came, we’d turn into a co-ed group.
In any case, there was no time to dwell on ‘adjusting’. Seeing how busy I got even after regressing, maybe I was just born with the fate of having to work a lot.
I wrote ‘Find a Solution’ in my journal planner and got up from my seat.
* * *
It was no exaggeration to say that an idol’s rise and fall depended on their concept. At least, that was what Won Chaehee thought.
How many groups had ruined their careers with ridiculous concepts?
Long ago, the group Won Chaehee had liked had also brought an absurd celebrity concept that made her lose all affection for them.
At least until now, Spark hadn’t had such issues. Spark had a knack for picking only what suited them and making it their own.
They had given some variations in between, like with ‘MISSION’ or ‘Winter Night’, but the framework was similar. Because they shared the keyword of ‘youth.’
Perhaps that was why, in the case of their new song, ‘On A High Note’, the song was good as always, but…
‘The music video concept is a bit of a letdown.’
…for Won Chaehee, a seasoned veteran in the stagnant idol scene, it was a bit disappointing.
Sure, her boys’ sports concept was special, but this market had already seen countless sports circulate, including basketball, soccer, and American football. Hadn’t Spark themselves even performed a volleyball concept on ‘IDC’?
Moreover, theories were already circulating among fans that the other title track, ‘End’, would be connected to the previously released song. This made it highly likely that ‘End’ would also be a youth sports story.
It would have been nice if they’d added more variation, like they did with the agent concept for ‘MISSION’. Perhaps because her expectations were high, a sense of disappointment followed.
With those faces, those physiques, and that talent, wasn’t it a waste to only do youth concepts? She knew that high school didn’t last forever, and once you moved into an adult image, it was hard to circle back.
Still, the one who loves more is always the one who loses. In her life as a fan, Won Chaehee tried not to forget that fact. There were already too many fans who’d gotten hurt for being the only ones truly sincere.
She had used her precious vacation days to go all the way to the Daejeon event, so she had done her part.
I will like them only as much as I can, and I won’t expect anything more from idols than their main job.
From the moment she decided to become a Spark fan, Won Chaehee had stuck to this principle, separate from the matter of beating up the agency when they did something stupid.
So, she could turn a blind eye to a bit of concept overlap. If it came to that, someone at UA — sadly, most likely Kim Iwol — would see the posts complaining about it getting stale and come up with a fix anyway.
Inwardly, she thought, ‘Well… do I have to watch the teaser right when it comes out?’ but it wasn’t like she had anything better to do.
Her life was all about work and fangirling. Was that okay?
After a moment’s thought, Won Chaehee concluded that it was all meaningless and opened the teaser that had just been uploaded.
A sound like a sandstorm, something you’d hear in a movie set in the desert, came from her phone.
The screen became hazy with sand, as if she had just returned from an outing on a day with severe yellow dust. Soon after, the figure of a person making their way through a massive sandstorm came into view.
