The fourth Saturday of July, under the blazing sun, Tony and Pepper's wedding was held in Central Park, New York.
Central Park had long been celebrated as New York's wedding sanctuary. Under a grove of sweetgum trees beginning to turn brilliant orange, rows of floral arches lined the stone path through the grass. Tony and Pepper, dressed in a tailored suit and elegant wedding gown, walked arm in arm toward the altar, fireworks bursting around them.
Guests filled the park. Outside, luxury cars and official vehicles were parked, carrying political and business elites, along with many who had no direct connection to Stark. Children were especially eager; without Happy and Ethan blocking the crowd, autograph requests would have overwhelmed the ceremony before it even began.
The ceremony began. Tony and Pepper exchanged vows, rings, and shared a tender kiss under the priest's witness. Applause erupted, and Carter wiped tears from her eyes as she clapped.
Next came the interactive portion.
Malrick was the first to go on stage.
"Welcome, everyone, to Tony's wedding. You know me—Malrick Stark, Tony's younger brother."
He waved the microphone, and applause followed.
"Maybe Tony isn't the easiest person to like, even a little frustrating. Colonel Rhodes used to tell me, 'Your brother is a headache.'"
"But today, he is probably the most considerate, handsome, and approachable version of himself."
"Look, I can tease him like this, and he hasn't argued back. After all, the one person who doesn't dislike him has finally accepted his proposal. He can't reveal his true self and make the bride regret it."
He grinned at the crowd. "So, for the sake of this special day, anyone itching to pull a gun and shoot him, please hold off. You can line up at Avengers Tower tomorrow."
Laughter swept through the crowd. Rhodes cupped his hands around his mouth, echoing the joke, which sent everyone into fits of laughter.
After the laughter, Malrick continued.
"Honestly, I also didn't like Tony much."
"Tony and I have known each other for 21 years—almost a lifetime. In our early years in Los Angeles, he would always bring a new girlfriend to our small family and ask for my advice: 'Hey, Malrick, what do you think of this beauty?'"
The crowd erupted in laughter again.
"What could I say? I could only repeat, 'Dump her quickly!' Until one day, Tony brought Pepper to our family."
"The first time I saw her, I knew she was Tony's other half. She was just… normal. Compared to all the other beauties around Tony, Pepper was the most ordinary woman in the world."
Malrick recalled tugging on Tony's pant leg as a one-year-old, crawling across the floor, whispering, "Go for it! That's your one!"
"You know what Tony said? He said, 'I'd sooner believe Captain America is alive than believe you, a baby!'"
Young Captain America raised his hand in acknowledgment. Pepper laughed so widely her gums showed.
Malrick pointed at Captain America. "See? Captain America is still alive, so Tony listened to my advice and married Pepper."
Applause filled the venue.
Malrick smiled at Tony. "Finally, a piece of advice—don't ask me for relationship advice anymore. You'll love each other deeply for life, never be separated. Thank you."
He walked off the stage. Pepper and Tony clapped warmly.
The interactive segment continued with speeches and performances from bridesmaids and groomsmen. Banner, Wong, Mordo, Captain America, and Carter joined, along with Thor and Loki, who shared Asgardian jokes.
Afterward, it was time for the buffet. Tony had generously laid out wine, brandy, vodka, lobster, king crab, and tuna—everyone could help themselves.
"You brat, you had to bring up my embarrassing past at my wedding," Tony said to Malrick, standing by a long white dining table.
"I'm repaying evil with good. Plus, you never told me about your proposal," Malrick replied, in a sleek black suit and tuxedo.
Tony shook his head. "At first, I was unsure, conflicted. I wondered if I could be a good father, a worthy husband. I feared becoming like Dad, that old guy."
Malrick patted Tony's arm. "You're not him. Howard loved you deeply; he just didn't know how to express it. That's your only similarity."
Tony swatted his hand playfully. "You only knew him as a baby. But your message a few days ago reminded me it was a perfect moment to propose. I sent out the group notice instantly to avoid hesitation."
Tony's eyes grew thoughtful. "The Pajama Boy was right—'with great power comes great responsibility.' We must learn responsibility, for ourselves and others. That's what being a superhero means."
Malrick observed, noting how marriage had already matured Tony into a responsible 'fatherly' figure.
Thor appeared with Loki. He and Loki shared a half-and-half routine, Thor devoting time to Jane Foster when on Earth.
"I plan to marry Jane once Father consents," Thor said. "She's brilliant, too busy and accomplished. Marriage might give us more time together."
Tony frowned playfully. "Busy? Pepper runs Stark Industries, is extraordinary, and she never claims to be busy."
Thor narrowed his eyes. "Jane works on projects that could win a Nobel Prize. She might change entire star systems—truly exceptional."
Tony countered, "Pepper brought clean energy to the world. She is the greatest woman of this century."
Thor pointed at Tony, "Jane researches the Nine Realms; she could alter entire worlds. She is the greatest."
The debate over whose partner was superior left Malrick speechless.
He cleared his throat, about to bring up Wanda, when suddenly, a red light flashed at his feet.
"Huh? No way… I haven't even spoken yet, and someone's already here?"
