Bear School Astartes-Chapter 493 - 495. Teleportation?!

Chapter 493

Chapter 493: 495. Teleportation?!
The number of subordinates gathered at the dock by the One-eyed People wasn’t small.
Because they had captured all the crew members on the Adrestia, about thirty or so people.
To keep watch over so many, the One-eyed People stationed a lot of subordinates here.
Moreover, it was probably to let more people witness Barnabas’s miserable state, intimidating everyone to not mention words like ’One-eyed.’
Thus, after the One-eyed Person ’lost’ his beloved Obsidian Eye, about twenty strong and powerful thieves surrounded Cassandra and Lann.
They were long accustomed to living by licking blood off the blade edge.
No matter how extraordinary a person is, as long as they stand on the opposing side of the battlefield, they don’t care if it’s a demigod or a hero. If they can cut them down, they’re mortal; if not, their own life is at stake.
No need to overthink it.
Most of these were ordinary thieves, much like those two who went to Cassandra’s house to stir up trouble.
Poor quality linen armor, greaves, bracers, not even a helmet, wielding a bronze short sword, shield, or longbow.
The barbarian soldiers mostly wore jackets made of two bronze plates, wielding large axes or hammers.
"Do you need me to take care of you?"
Lann and Cassandra stood back to back, the Demon Hunter’s left hand resting on the scabbard at their waist, speaking softly.
As if the dozen or so people walking towards him didn’t exist.
Cassandra drew a short sword from her waist with her right hand, while her left hand took a strange broken spear from her back.
The broken spear spun subconsciously at her fingertips, its slight whistling wind clearly showing just how sharply exaggerated the thing was beneath its weathered surface.
Cassandra’s agile eyes flowed over the enemies closing in on her, a smile of excitement and belligerence always at the corners of her mouth.
Spartans.
If there were someone now watching who had battled against Spartans on the battlefield, they would probably say this name without thinking.
Spartans yearned for honor and hard-fought battles, it’s in their nature, just as people have a nature to desire fine wine, delicacies, and fiery companionship.
"Do you look down on women?"
"No."
"So you look down on me?"
"Certainly not."
"Then don’t say such nonsense!" The woman, as beautiful as a panther, is unparalleled in her swift movements when fighting, not even the world’s most agile leopard can match her!
"Let’s enjoy the moment!"
Once Cassandra got serious, the blade of the broken spear in her hand emitted a golden glow.
Lann, standing behind her, keenly noticed this.
The Demon Hunter didn’t know what it represented.
But soon, the owner of the broken spear demonstrated a skill display for him.
"Zing!"
The ancient broken spear shot out from Cassandra’s hand, even a javelin’s force couldn’t compare.
The targeted thief seemed to have some skill.
He desperately moved his position, trying to dodge this heavy blow. But the spear was too fast; he only managed to sidestep half of his body.
In front of the unimaginably sharp broken spear, the inferior linen armor was as fragile as a piece of parchment.
With a rapid tearing sound, the broken spear pierced directly from the thief’s left rib to his back, then was stuck by his internal muscles and bones.
The thief immediately slumped to the ground, the broken spear protruded from the back of his kneeling body like a corpse used as a stand.
Up to this point, not to mention Lann, even the surrounding thieves thought it normal.
Throwing a spear to impale someone, isn’t that quite normal?
But next...
The Demon Hunter’s pupils contracted into a slit like a cat’s eye from seeing this.
Behind Lann, Cassandra’s body first emitted a faint golden light, then disappeared like a particle effect!
Then at the spear’s position, golden particles reformed into human shape.
With a faint glow still on her, Cassandra grabbed the exposed spearhead from behind the corpse.
With a fierce pull, she dragged the original corpse directly off the ground.
Again, with another throw of the broken spear, and a particle-effect-like disappearance and reappearance, a barbarian soldier’s neck was pulled to expose the cervical vertebra.
...Instant teleportation using the broken spear as a reference point?!!
After witnessing it only twice, Lann and Mentos quickly discerned the mechanics of this ability using their experience and analytical prowess.
But even so, he was still dumbfounded.
Compared to this, An You’s ability to make flames on the dagger burn more intensely seemed much easier to accept.
And while Lann thought Cassandra would ’zip, zip, zip’ around the field like a golden flash to finish the fight, Cassandra, who had flashed twice, did not throw the spear again.
The golden glow on the spear dimmed, becoming just like an ordinary spearhead.
Seems like instant teleportation has a usage limit.
Lann and Mentos made a note of this in their observations.
Compared to the Demon Hunter, who knew the value of the ’instant teleportation’ ability, the local thieves, though amazed by the miraculous phenomenon,
And while they found it wondrous, their ’archaic’ worldview probably didn’t grasp the technical gap between ’making fire burn more’ and ’instant teleportation.’
To them, it was all ’Divine Power,’ hardly different from the legendary stories they heard, not seen but believed.
Thus, they regained their senses faster than the thoughtful Lann.
Two brave thieves stood closest to Lann, exchanged glances, and nodded to each other.
Take advantage of his daze and strike first!
So, two bronze short swords attacked Lann from two angles simultaneously.
It was clear they had coordination.
One aimed high at Lann’s unprotected head, and the other aimed from the side trying to stab the short sword into the ribs.
Based on experience, side points in armor tend to be weak spots.
Confidence flared in the eyes of the two thieves.
Though this man was tall, wearing armor they’d never seen, he hadn’t even turned his head to look at what was happening behind him.
No matter how tall you are, can you survive a slashing blow to the head?
But when they raised their confident eyes to meet Lann’s oblique, cat-like eyes staring back at them, that confidence vanished like morning dew.
"Zing!"
Gloved in hardened scales, gripped the hilt of the Lady of the Lake’s Sword. As the sword was drawn, the top of the hilt balanced against the attacking thief’s joint.
In precise human structure judgment, this position was just right.
The arm of the one wielding the sword gave a dull "crack" under his force. His own swinging strength broke his arm!
The sword, shimmering with clear silver light, was now fully unsheathed.
A fan-shaped silver gleam flashed.
Lann, as if flicking off the blood from the sword, swung downward, severing both thieves’ legs from the knees, separating them from their bodies.
The wails only began after the blood hit the ground.
