Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 166: The Truth

Chapter 166

Chapter 166: Chapter 166: The Truth
The atmosphere in the interrogation room grew tense. Callum returned to his chair, his feet raised arrogantly. He had already guessed what his father wanted to talk about regarding Cliff and his refusal to admit his mistakes. That was why Callum had refused to visit the police station in the first place.
Callum raised his head haughtily, folding his arms. "What exactly do you want to talk about?"
"I know all this time you felt like you were treated unfairly because we cared more about Cliff than you."
"Then what does that have to do with me? It’s no use just talking now!"
"You should understand this situation. You’re an adult, Callum. We don’t need to explain it to you, but you should know that we care more about Cliff because he’s your older brother."
Callum smacked his lips in annoyance as he looked away. "I still won’t accept your nonsense excuse. Because you indirectly killed my mother!"
"Watch your words, Callum! Since when did we want to kill your mother?!" Diana snapped, banging her fist on the table until the room echoed.
"If you didn’t want to kill my mother, why didn’t you save her from the accident? Then, you told me she’d be home late. My mother actually wanted to file for divorce, but she happened to be in an accident."
"So, you think we also killed your mother using the accident as an excuse?" Kevin concluded, glaring at his son.
"Yes, because I felt something was odd about the accident I had and my mother’s, and they were very similar. Why did it have to be at the right time? It just so happened that my family and I were on vacation."
"It was actually Yvette’s doing. We were just helping her cover up her crimes!"
Callum laughed in annoyance, banging the table repeatedly. "I think that’s the same as trying to kill me. If you had good intentions, you wouldn’t have helped Yvette. Instead, you would have helped me find Edith until I found her."
"But if you keep looking for Edith, you’ll continue to get into big trouble. Do you want your life to suffer just because of that woman?" Diana asked with a look of pity.
"No. I never suffered because of Edith."
"You are indeed stupid because you are blinded by love!"
"I’ll suffer even more if you continue to match me with Arabella or other women I don’t love. Because of your constant control over my life, I’ve been taking tranquilizers for the past five years."
Kevin raised his right hand tremblingly. "Wait a minute! Why didn’t we know this?"
"Why would I tell you? You still wouldn’t care about me. You just think of me as a weak man just because of Edith."
"But since when have you been experiencing this? Is it because you’ve been so desperate to find Edith all this time?"
"Yes, you finally understand what I mean. You finally care about me after all this time you only cared about Cliff, Father."
"I’ve let you run the hotel freely and haven’t bothered you anymore. But why do you still care about that woman?"
"Actually, for five years, Erdin has been asking me all the time. Who his biological mother really is and why she never came to visit him. He even thought she was evil for abandoning him." A heavy sigh escaped his lips. "If you had a shred of conscience, you would at least reunite Erdin with his mother. But instead, you want to take Erdin away from me so Cliff can be his father."
"We actually didn’t want to do it because we clearly remember the time when Edith called off her engagement because Cliff cheated on her."
"Then why did you still defend him back then? You should have defended me and not let me almost die! The day Edith left me, I almost died in the bathroom because my mental state was unstable!" Callum patted his chest that was tight as he imagined himself drowning in the bathtub because he felt hopeless at being left by the woman he loved.
Kevin bowed his head in resignation. "I’m sorry, Callum. If only we had paid more attention to you from the start, you wouldn’t have suffered this long."
"It’s too late. I don’t care how long you’ll be sentenced to. What’s certain is that I now have a family who truly loves me. Besides, no one wants to stand in my way anymore." Callum got up from his chair and turned around. "I’ve had my fill of talking to you. If you see Cliff in prison, give him my regards."
"Actually, we don’t need you to forgive us. I just want you to take care of King’s Group for a while."
The corners of his lips lifted. "At a time like this, you can still be thinking about the company. You should be thinking about yourself first."
"Because you’re the only one I can rely on when it comes to running the company. Moreover, you’re a member of the board of commissioners."
"I’ll think about it again. I actually have another way, and you guys can’t stop me."

In the end, Edith and Callum were satisfied with their conversation with their respective families at the police station. Afterward, they were interrogated by the police as witnesses to the harassment case that Yvette committed at the hotel the previous night. The interrogation didn’t last long; to celebrate their victory, Callum took his fiancée for a leisurely walk in the city park. The weather wasn’t too hot and the air was cool, making it perfect for an outdoor date like this.
"Callum, are you really okay?" Edith asked, shaking her fiancé’s right hand.
"Why are you worried about me all of a sudden? Does my face look gloomy now?"
"No. It’s just that I’m worried that you’re still being oppressed by your own family. Moreover, they probably won’t admit their mistakes."
"Actually, my father admitted his mistake earlier."
Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "Really?"
"I actually had a hard time believing it. He suddenly apologized because I told him the truth about my condition for the past five years."
Edith rested her head on her fiancé’s shoulder. "It’s all over now. We should put it all behind us and then celebrate our victory with our friends."
