Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 43: The Masquerade Ball

Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: The Masquerade Ball
Upon arriving at the ball venue, which was attended by VIP guests, the couple’s faces were covered with masks. They walked into the venue hand in hand, looking around, which was already filled with guests. Edith became increasingly nervous because all the women present at the party looked classier than her, even though their faces were all covered with masks. She was worried that all the women would tease her boyfriend in every way and make him uncomfortable enjoying the dance.
Edith was actually curious about the expression on her lover’s face behind the mask. Was he nervous, sad, or happy? She remembered that Callum was uncomfortable attending a party that wasn’t beneficial to him. How should she comfort him now?
"Edith, would you like to eat that matcha cake?" His index finger pointed to a table that had been set up with many matcha cakes.
Edith was surprised when her lover suddenly asked her to eat first. Especially since he offered her her favorite food, of course she wouldn’t refuse.
"I want to."
With enthusiasm, Callum led his girlfriend to the table and took a piece of matcha cake. Unconcerned by anyone watching, he fed her a piece of matcha cake.
"How does it feel?"
Edith nodded. "It tastes delicious." Her head lowered for a moment. "By the way, aren’t you embarrassed to be seen?"
Callum lifted his head right in front of his lover’s face. "Why should I be embarrassed?"
"Because you’re known as a cold person. If everyone saw you suddenly acting sweet, they’d definitely criticize you for showing favoritism."
"In fact, I want to prove to them that I am actually a cold-hearted man to all of them, but I have a warm heart for only one woman."
Hearing her lover’s sweet words made her cheeks flush. "Let’s talk about it later. I’m getting hot." Her eyes were fixed on a rather large piece of matcha cake. "I want to feed you too."
"I never thought you’d take the initiative to feed me. Haven’t you always been so proud?"
"Not always does an attitude of prestige make me happy."
"Does that mean you won’t be too proud of me anymore? Now you want to do whatever you want to me?"
Edith lowered her head even further as she fed her lover a piece of matcha cake. She was embarrassed to see his enthusiastic reaction to her words. However, she honestly preferred to act according to her heart rather than continue hiding her feelings.
"The cake is even sweeter when you feed it to me," Callum cooed, chuckling.
"You can tease me, but only at home."
"Okay, then you can’t stop me from sweet-talking you as much as I want. Because you started it first."
Her lover’s sweet gesture made her heart flutter even more. Unconsciously, her hand continued to sway as it held his.
Callum pursed his lips. "Actually, I want to run away from here because I can’t freely date you."
"Can you hold back for a moment? This party only lasts two hours."
Suddenly, the MC’s voice announced that the dance party would begin in five minutes. Edith still wanted to hold her lover’s hand tightly, already feeling the warmth of his hand. Likewise, Callum liked his lover’s hand even though they were wearing gloves because Edith had previously had a needle-injured index finger.
"Are you ready to dance with me?"
Edith nodded. "Of course, because we’ve been practicing so hard every night."
"But, it seems like your hands still want to be pampered by me."
Edith quickly let go of her lover’s hand. "No. For now my hands can’t be spoiled first."
Callum burst out laughing, grabbing his girlfriend’s hand again and wrapping his left arm around her slender waist. Edith also touched her boyfriend’s shoulder with one hand. Even though they were wearing masks, Edith could see the love in Callum’s eyes. She was even more excited to dance with someone who truly loved her.
As the romantic music played, they moved their feet in unison to the beat. Edith was no longer nervous about dancing with her lover, as they had made numerous mistakes during their dance practice. Every time she moved her feet quickly, she always accidentally stepped on Callum’s foot. Since they had spent so much time together yesterday, Edith had grown even more in love with Callum, and her spontaneous foot movements now followed her feelings.
"As I thought, you are indeed reliable, Edith."
"This is all thanks to you, who taught me patience. I really like that you never scold me whenever I make a mistake."
"Because of that mistake, you’re now a much better dancer. That’s why I don’t want to waste my energy on useless things."
Edith laughed gracefully as she turned around. "I promised you too, I wouldn’t let you down."
"I didn’t force you. If you really couldn’t do it, I definitely wouldn’t have scolded you."
"But, everyone here seems classier than me."
"Don’t say that, Edith! You’re the one who shines the brightest among them all."
"Callum..."
"If you didn’t shine, I wouldn’t have chosen you as my dance partner."
In fact, behind the sweet moment between the two lovers, many women were gossiping behind their backs, especially those who were very curious about the woman dancing with Callum. They were very jealous because she was the luckiest woman to dance with a handsome prince. If only they could bully her after the party ended without Callum in attendance, they would.
As the dance ended, Edith and Callum held hands again affectionately. Finally, they managed to do it without a hitch. Edith continued to swing her arms excitedly as she stared at her lover, growing increasingly impatient to play with him at home.
"Callum, you look so cool today."
"You too, Edith. I actually wanted to give you a gift right now."
"What gift? You already gave me a necklace."
"For sure, a more special gift than a necklace."
"I didn’t expect you to be at the ball, Callum!" a woman said as she approached Callum, accompanied by her friends standing behind her.
