Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Sweet Memories from The Past
Edith didn’t want to wake up from her sweet dream world because she loved watching the moments when she was on her date with Callum. When she felt lonely and exhausted from all her work at the office, she looked gloomy because she had no one to accompany her now. She had even deleted Cliff’s phone number because he had betrayed her. All she could do was stare at photos of her handsome lover on her phone.
A sweet smile spread across her beautiful face, deeply missing her lover, who always cheered her up when she was in a bad mood. However, she didn’t expect Callum to visit her right now, as she remembered him meeting with a VIP client. Furthermore, her assistant was also busy serving a client outside.
Even though they’d only been dating for about a week, she felt incredibly comfortable around Callum. Callum was the only one who always cared about her and was sensitive to her.
"I miss you, Callum."
Edith glanced at the luxury watch on her left wrist for a moment. She let out a long sigh as it was getting late. She had been waiting for Callum for so long that she nearly fell asleep.
Suddenly, someone entered her room, causing her head to lift with confidence. She had suspected Callum was visiting her now, as he had promised to pick her up on time.
Even though Callum was a little late arriving, she had no right to reprimand him, as he had already made the effort to make time for her date. She could see his labored breathing and the sweat dripping down his face, which showed that he had rushed here just to avoid being scolded.
Moreover, Callum suddenly knelt down in front of her, making her stunned.
"Callum, what are you doing?"
"I’m sorry. I promised I’d pick you up on time."
Edith shook her head quickly, kneeling before her lover. "I won’t scold you just because you’re fifteen minutes late. The important thing is that you took the time to pick me up."
Callum took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. His legs were still shaking from running from the meeting room in his office to this room. He just wanted to avoid disappointing his girlfriend.
"Why don’t you sit down? Your knees will hurt," Edith suggested, helping her lover sit on the sofa.
Edith could sense her lover’s nervousness when facing her. His trembling body made her feel even more guilty for causing him trouble. Especially since their offices were quite far apart. She could imagine Callum driving fast to avoid disappointing her.
"Callum, I’m not going to scold you for this. In fact, I’m really happy that you took the time to pick me up."
"Edith, are you really not mad at me?"
"In fact, I like you even more because you never let me down. You’ve always kept your promises. If you wanted to betray me, you’d probably be a jerk like Cliff." Edith kissed the back of her lover’s hand. "I hate him so much that I can’t forgive him for deceiving me all these years."
Finally, Callum showed a happy smile again. He wrapped his arms around his lover’s neck. "I definitely won’t make you cry. But if you ever get involved with that guy again, I’ll be furious!"
"Of course. I’ve even deleted and blocked his phone number."
Callum rubbed his palms together furiously. "You’re really scary when you hold a grudge against someone."
"Because why would I be with a man who betrayed me? Besides, he was the one who started it. Of course he has to accept my revenge for disappointing me."
"What if I had behaved like that?"
"I will definitely kill you. But, I am sure you will not be like him."
"How did you know?"
Edith laughed gracefully, resting her head on her lover’s shoulder. "I knew from the start that you two were polar opposites. I should have met you sooner, so I wouldn’t have felt such immense heartache."
"Edith..."
"How about we go home now? I’ve been hungry for a while now."
Callum handed his girlfriend a paper bag. "I bought you some macaroons. While I cook, you can have some snacks."
Upon arriving at the luxurious residence, Edith and Callum prepared dinner together in the kitchen. Callum had actually warned his special guest not to help him. He didn’t want her tiny hands to tire themselves out cooking. So, what they had initially intended to cook together ended up being an argument.
"Calluumm! I told you earlier that I would cook!"
Callum kissed her cheek and gently stroked her lover’s head. "This is my apology for making you wait so long."
Edith rolled her eyes, slapping her lover’s chest with a little force. "Don’t make me look bad! I already told you. I don’t mind you being late. I know you have an important meeting today."
"Edith, I actually wanted to cook a special meal for you today. To celebrate our week of dating."
"I didn’t expect you to be so over-the-top when it comes to dating. You usually seem so awkward."
Callum kissed his girlfriend’s cheek repeatedly, then moved to her lips. "Actually, because I’ve never been in a relationship, I don’t know what couples usually do."
"Since I’ve been in a relationship before, I want to give you some tips."
"What tips?"
Edith turned off the stove for a moment and then wrapped her arms around her lover’s neck. "There’s no need to bother celebrating our anniversary every week. As long as you love me sincerely, I’m perfectly happy."
"Edith..."
"Since you’ve come into my life, I don’t have to worry about anything anymore. Even though you were annoying at first, you’re actually really adorable."
Her cheeks flushed red at her lover’s sweet talk. "Only you dare call me adorable."
"But you’re the only man I can truly admire. That’s why, even if problems arise, I’ll still maintain our relationship."
"What if you had amnesia?"
"Of course the number one thing I remember is you." Her eyes were filled with love as she looked into her lover’s eyes.
