Chapter 53: Your Boyfriend Sucked My-
Ethan blinks up at his phone as he lays on his bed, one knee propped up and his other leg resting on top of it. Music plays lowly in the background from his computer across the room, and his foot in the air moves to the beat. His dark brown hair fans out around his pillow, his lips pursing as he thinks about what to send in his text message.
’
I’m sorry your boyfriend sucked my dick’
doesn’t sound sincere enough. If anything it sounds like more of a taunt, and that’s the last thing he wants to do. He has half the mind to just forget it all, delete both Chris and Zander’s numbers, and act like nothing ever happened. But that would be too disrespectful to the omega. He huffs out a breath and tries something else.
Ethan:
Can we talk?
Maybe it’s better if he said it in person. Ethan can explain that he was under the impression that Zander was single, and if Chris is that distraught, then he can throw a drink in his face, which he will take in silent humility. It’s the least he can do after the infidelity he was involved in. He just needs to make sure the omega doesn’t order a hot coffee and instead an iced one. Maybe it will also make him feel a little better? The beta scoffs,
yeah right.
He reaches up to rub the edge of his eyebrow as guilt chips away at his resolve, his other hand still holding his phone up. He never thought he’d be in this position. He’s a beta. The drama of alphas and omegas should be lost on him, and yet here he is. About to destroy a relationship that should have nothing to do with him.
His inner debate is interrupted when the door to his room opens and Leo struts in. His orange tank top is tight and unsightly, the neon color nearly blinding in the light on the ceiling. His multi-colored joggers are even worse, and Ethan swears a unicorn vomited the rainbow on him.
Leo frowns when he sees his friend laying down, and crosses his arms over his chest, the bracelets on his wrists jingling from the movement. He shifts his hip to the side and pushes the tip of his shoe into the floor, "Shouldn’t you be at the library or something?" He asks.
Ethan groans and sits up, dropping his phone on his lap. "Don’t remind me." He scrubs a hand down one side of his face. His mom may have told him to go back to school, and while Ethan is eager to do exactly that, he dreads having to study. He forgot how brain wracking it all is. He glances down at his phone, where he already sent the message to Chris. It remains unread, and he almost hopes Chris already blocked him and will never see it. Despite that, Ethan would rather deal with relationship - one he’s not even in - problems right now, which is saying a lot because even that is horrendous.
Leo steps closer, his blonde hair soft and shiny, and he slides two slips of paper over the screen of Ethan’s phone, catching the beta’s attention.
Ethan glances up at him, his brown hair falling away from his face. Leo flashes him a toothy grin and shuffles over to his desk, where .music continues to play. The omega wrinkles his nose at Ethan’s choice of tunes and moves the mouse so the screen lights up.
"What is this?" Ethan asks. He lifts one of the slips to eye level and scans it over.
"Tickets to my midterm project." Leo says. He sits down in the chair and types out a different song before playing it. Techno sounds from the speakers, and Leo taps his foot to it. He leans back in the chair and puts his hands behind his head and rests one leg over the other, his foot still moving to the beat. "Each designer gets three," he continues with a shrug, tilting his head back to stare up at the ceiling. "I’m giving one to you and momma Rox."
Ethan smiles and glances over at him. He’s never been to one of Leo’s shows. Not because the omega never invited him, but because Ethan could never get out of work to make time for it. He’s always felt bad about it, despite Leo telling him it was okay. He wants to show his support, and there’s only a few ways he can do that. "Who are you going to give the last one to?" he asks with a raised eyebrow.
"I’m not sure yet." The omega shrugs. He drops his hands and turns his head down at Ethan. "Laura says she’ll only fly in during my finals."
Ethan frowns at the name of Leo’s sister. It’s been a long time since he’s seen her. She’s seven years older than Leo, the large gap between them seemed to make it difficult for them to get along. Unlike Leo, Laura is a beta. It’s probably another reason why she finds it hard to connect with him. She moved to New York after she graduated college and now works with a large law firm. Sometimes she’ll visit during the holidays, but after getting married, she rarely comes around anymore.
"You’re not giving one to Max?" Ethan asks. He figured he would have been the first one to get a ticket, but maybe not.
Leo flushes red and he diverts his gaze to a trinket on Ethan’s desk, "No," he clears his throat and smiles, "he’s my model so he doesn’t need one."
"Oh?" Ethan asks in surprise. He shifts so he sits at the edge of his bed, his phone and the tickets clutched in both his hands. "Why didn’t you tell me?"
"I forgot." Leo shrugs half heartedly. Ethan raises one of the tickets up to eye level and reads over it. "It’s next week. I think we can make it."
The omega scoffs, "If you don’t, I’m never showing my face around you again."
"I’ll make sure Mom knows so we can close up early."
