Chapter 285

Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Favorite scent
The escape from the reception was executed with military precision. One moment they were surrounded, Victor’s hand a firm, special imprint on Elias’s lower back. The next, a discreet nod to a security detail had cleared a path, and Victor was guiding him through a hidden panel in the banisters into the hushed silence of a private elevator.
The ascent was swift and silent. Victor didn’t say anything, but his eyes, which were dark and burning with an intensity that had been carefully banked for hours, spoke volumes. He pressed Elias against the mirrored wall, one hand braced beside his head and the other splayed across his hip. The cool glass seeped through the fine fabric of Elias’s tuxedo jacket, a stark contrast to the heat radiating from the man in front of him.
"Finally," Victor breathed, the word a vow. His gaze dropped to Elias’s mouth.
"Impatient," Elias murmured, though his own pulse was hammering in his throat.
Victor’s answer was to close the last inch of space between them. His kiss was not the same as the ceremony’s chaste, public kiss. It began tenderly, with a soft, searching pressure that made Elias’ knees weak. But it quickly deepened, transforming into something hungry and devouring. Victor’s tongue swept into his mouth, and Elias met it with his own, a silent, desperate agreement. He lost himself in the taste of champagne and Victor, his hands coming up to fist in the impossibly soft hair at the nape of Victor’s neck.
The elevator slid to a stop with a barely perceptible sigh, but neither of them moved. Victor’s mouth kept moving against Elias’s like he was relearning him, frame by frame, breath by breath. The small space felt hot, their mingled breaths fogging faintly against the mirrored walls. Elias tugged a little harder at Victor’s hair, pulling a low sound from his throat that reverberated down Elias’s spine.
Victor ended the kiss because he needed to see him.
His forehead rested against Elias’s, their breaths tangling.
"I’ve been waiting for this since the moment you walked down that aisle," Victor said, voice roughened to something almost feral. His thumb brushed Elias’s cheek with a gentleness that didn’t match the heat surging beneath his skin. "You looked... unreal."
Elias swallowed, trying to steady himself. "So did you."
Victor shifted, pressing him more firmly against the mirrored wall, the gold trim biting lightly into Elias’s back. "You’re still wearing too many clothes."
"So are you," Elias murmured.
Victor’s mouth curved, wicked and adoring all at once. "Then I’ll be the one taking them off."
The elevator chimed, an almost apologetic sound, as the doors parted.
Victor didn’t wait. He intertwined their fingers and pulled him out into the quiet luxury of the top-floor private suite. The door slid shut behind them, sealing off the noise of the reception entirely. The room was vast, all gold accents and soft lighting, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city below, where the wedding lights glittered like constellations.
But none of it mattered.
Victor didn’t spare the room a single glance.
He backed Elias toward the nearest surface, an antique console table carved with celestial motifs, until Elias’s hips brushed the edge. He didn’t let him settle. Instead, he cupped Elias’s jaw in both hands, tilting his face up, searching it with an intensity that stripped every layer of composure away.
"This day," Victor murmured, "was for everyone else."
The kiss he drew Elias into then was slow again, unbearably so, a subtle contrast to the urgency in the elevator. Victor kissed him like he wanted to memorize him, to carve the moment into his bones. Elias felt himself melt into it and felt the fine layers of ceremony and responsibility fall away one by one.
Victor pulled back only when breathing became necessary, his lips brushing Elias’s jaw in a promise rather than a retreat.
"I want you," he whispered, the words breathed into Elias’s skin like a confession meant solely for him.
Elias’s fingers curled in the lapels of Victor’s jacket, anchoring himself. "Then take me."
Victor’s control shattered like a held breath finally released.
He lifted Elias with a smooth movement, Elias’s gasp caught between their mouths, and carried him toward the bedroom, each step steady and confident. Elias wrapped an arm around his shoulders, the other sliding along the line of Victor’s throat, feeling the pulse there, hot and fast and real.
The bedroom was a sanctuary of shadows and soft light, the city’s glitter a distant galaxy against the dark windows. Victor laid Elias down on the bed, the movement unbelievably gentle, a stark contrast to the ferocity in his eyes. For a moment, he just stood there, his chest rising and falling, a predator admiring his prey, a husband worshipping his spouse.
Then, with a fluid motion, he shed his jacket, his tie followed. The crisp white shirt was next, unbuttoned with a slowness that was more tantalizing than any rush. He revealed the hard planes of his chest, the smattering of dark hair, and the skin that Elias knew tasted of salt and pure alpha.
Elias watched, his own body thrumming with a need that was a physical ache. He propped himself up on his elbows, his gaze hungry. "You’re teasing me."
Victor’s mouth curved into a wicked smile. "I’ve been forced to watch you all day. To share you with the world. I’m taking my time now." He knelt on the bed, crawling up the length of Elias’s body, his movements predatory and graceful. He bracketed Elias’s head with his arms, lowering his weight just enough to be felt. "I’m going to unwrap my husband."
His fingers found the buttons of Elias’s shirt. He took his time, his knuckles brushing against Elias’s chest with each released button. The scent of imperial iris bloomed from Elias’s heated skin, a cool, floral note in the heated air. Victor inhaled deeply, his eyes closing for a second as if he were savoring the finest vintage.
"There it is," he murmured, his voice a low, possessive rumble. "My favorite scent." He pushed the shirt open, his gaze sweeping over Elias’s torso before he lowered his head and pressed a hot, open-mouthed kiss to his sternum. "All mine."
