Conquering Ladies With My 10x Rebate System-Chapter 154 - 154: Stain

Chapter 154

A somber music played in the background.
Indistinct chatters could be heard all over the place.
Servants moved from side to side, carrying silver trays.
The rich scent of roses filled the room in bliss.
And the bright golden chandelier hung loosely over the hall,
casting its ambient light into every corner of the room.
Then there were the people within this oversized hall.
Wearing black tailcoats, with white piqué waistcoats and white winged collar shirts.
The men stood out, each carrying an air of elegance.
The ladies, dressed in full-length luxurious gowns made with silk, chiffons, and satins — their beauty unmatched.
This room wasn't just for the wealthy.
In the faces of these dignified figures, that wasn't even considered a standard.
Each figure in the room not only had wealth but was the embodiment of power and authority.
Not many were invited to such banquets, but being in such a place presented privileges that many couldn't get.
Heck, even the servants looked rich enough to get a mansion of their own. (I wish I could be such a servant.)
This was the banquet of the royal house —
a banquet that was held by the royal family once every year.
A reunion for all the members of the extended family, their allies, business partners, and friends.
It required a deep connection to be in such a room.
Today, a notable figure walked amidst the crowd,
wearing his usual white suit.
His hair stylishly curved to the left.
He walked with a calm gait through the room,
as several figures flooded him, each looking for an opportunity to speak with the renowned figure.
However, he seemed to be in a hurry.
And because of that, each of his interactions was either:
"Mr. Diego! What a—"
"Please excuse me."
Or something more like this…
"Mr. Diego, my company has been trying to reach out to you. It's a pleasant surprise to—"
"Well, I wasn't looking for you. Excuse me."
With each of his interactions ending in such an unfriendly manner.
Some assumed he was having a bad day, and some simply made it off to be his usual character.
No one approached him anymore, and he was left on his own.
Not like he cared, though.
Right now, he was only here because he had promised to be.
And if anything, he was more annoyed than happy,
since they had already made out their plan to attack Caleb tonight.
Diego ran his hand through his hair, frustrated as he looked through the crowd.
"Where the fuck is that bitch?!" His words came in between the gaps of his teeth.
And just when he pulled out his phone to call the person he was searching for,
a woman casually walked out of a room, her hands covered in sleek leather gloves.
The hem of her diamond gown gracefully swept the ground as she walked.
All heads turned to the figure.
She was the host of this year's banquet —
the Queen of the Modritch household.
With a sharp glance, she quickly spotted Diego.
Almost as though she had been looking for him as well, she walked towards him with a charming smile on her face.
"Wonderful! For a moment, I thought you wouldn't come, and I became slightly worried," the Queen said with a light tone.
Diego forced a smile as he replied, "While I have other things to do tonight, I am a man of my word, so I had to honor it by coming since I promised I would."
Diego definitely held the royal family in high regard.
And it was also because of his connection with them that he had such a strong standing in the country.
Simply put, he was earning back from his investment years back.
For generations, they had been working together.
And he was the one who planted the royal family in their current position, specifically for that purpose.
The deal was simple — they would support him and his offspring.
A royal contract back then was one that went deeper than just words on paper.
It was a contract of blood.
They agreed,
and they continued working with Diego and his "offspring" —
which obviously never existed,
since all those offspring were still Diego through the years.
He achieved this with the different aliases he used throughout his lifetime, and maybe some little facial modifications here and there.
But he also had to keep his own part of the deal.
Since his dear friend felt really indebted to him for offering such an opportunity, he had him sign his part of the contract —
which was that he would never turn his back on the family and would always be present during the banquets.
So it would be a constant reminder of the bond they shared.
Well, of course, Diego wasn't one to be bound by a contract.
But he took it more like a last wish, and he honored it.
Slowly, it began to grow on him.
The royal family felt more like a second family.
"Thank you so much for coming," the Queen said, bowing slightly.
"Since I've already made my presence known, I should be leaving then," Diego smiled, checking his watch.
He didn't want to waste much more time.
"Oh, no, no, no!" the Queen waved frantically, cold sweat dropping from her face.
She couldn't let him leave without meeting them.
If she broke their deal, she was more scared of what the young mistress would do.
She did mention that the prince would have to come for constant checkups to make sure he was doing alright.
"What is it?" Diego raised a brow, finding the Queen's reaction rather weird.
His presence in the banquet over the years didn't have as much significance as it did in the past, and he was surprised to have the Queen react in such a way to his request to leave.
Perhaps she wanted something from him?
And just like he thought, that was indeed the case.
She quickly mentioned how she wanted him to meet someone.
Diego thought for a moment — he had nothing to lose.
So he simply accepted and followed the Queen.
Soon, they entered a room, the door closing behind them.
From the side of the banquet hall, all along, a white-haired lady had her eyes on the two.
She took a sip from the glass cup, her deep crimson eyes staring at the door —
a smirk climbing up her face.na
