Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Never Thought of Marrying Damon Hawke
Hearing Cole Hawke’s words, Elara Don tightened her grip on her chopsticks.
"I won’t let Damon Hawke know that I’m Charlie’s biological mother; I have nothing to do with him."
He can be with whoever he wants.
It has nothing to do with her.
"You don’t want to be with him?"
Cole Hawke’s eyes flickered slightly, "My uncle is a favored son of heaven. Although my aunt can be a bit willful, if she knew you were Charlie’s biological mother, I’m sure you could gain status through your son."
Gain status through her son?
So, she has to rely on her son to improve her standing?
She doesn’t care for it!
Suppressing her emotions, Elara Don said, "I never thought about marrying Damon Hawke, nor did I ever want to live the life of a wealthy lady. I just want to be with my two sons."
That’s exactly what she said!
Cole Hawke’s eyes flashed, and a barely perceptible smile appeared at his lips.
He deliberately said it that way.
Because he knew Elara Don had her pride.
What she wanted was a man’s wholehearted love for her, not to be together because of children.
"Elly, if you need anything, I’ll help you."
He would patiently wait until the day she belonged to him alone.
"No need, I’ll handle my own matters."
Elara Don glanced at Cole Hawke, barely calming her turbulent emotions.
"Elly, are you still mad? I swear, I will never lie to you again."
Cole Hawke held Elara Don’s hand and spoke.
Elara Don pulled her hand back without looking up.
"Brother Hawke, I only see you as a senior."
She doesn’t trust any man now.
She doesn’t need any man in her future life either.
She just wants to be with her sons and girlfriends.
"I know. Elly, just don’t ignore me."
Cole Hawke’s eyes flickered, and he softened his tone, a hint of a plea in it.
Elara Don said nothing, quietly eating her meal.
CEO’s Office.
"Tom, Samantha, it’s getting late. Let’s find a restaurant for dinner."
Vinny Hawke entered the CEO’s office, smiling at the two of them.
There was no resistance on Damon Hawke’s face.
It seemed the two of them got along pretty well.
Indeed, Damon Hawke treated Evelyn Miles differently.
"I’ll eat at the cafeteria, sister. You and Samantha should go out to eat."
Damon Hawke glanced at the time, thinking his son would be coming soon. He just wanted something simple.
"What’s nutritious about cafeteria food? Tom, Samantha just returned to the country. Shouldn’t you show some hospitality as the host?"
Vinny Hawke looked at Damon Hawke, dissatisfied.
Damon Hawke slightly furrowed his brows, about to speak, when Evelyn Miles said, "Sister, Tom is a down-to-earth CEO, and I also want to see what a big company’s cafeteria is like. Why don’t I accompany him to the cafeteria instead?"
Hearing this, Damon Hawke glanced at Evelyn Miles, a hint of surprise and praise in his eyes.
She was a young lady from a prestigious family but showed no signs of arrogance.
"Oh my, look at Samantha. Calm and collected, she’s undoubtedly the type of supportive woman any man would be lucky to marry."
Vinny Hawke took the opportunity to praise Evelyn Miles.
Damon Hawke pressed his thin lips together, somewhat speechless.
"Sister, please stop praising me. I’ll get embarrassed."
Evelyn Miles hooked Vinny Hawke’s arm, not forgetting to look at Damon Hawke and wink at him.
As if to say, don’t mind it, just to make sister happy.
Damon Hawke’s lips curved slightly, his expression softening.
"Alright, you two go to the cafeteria for dinner. Tom, take the soup Samantha brought with you."
Vinny Hawke was very happy, not caring where they ate, pleased to see the friendly interaction between the two.
Damon Hawke picked up the thermos and headed to the cafeteria with Evelyn Miles.
At this moment, Elara Don was almost finished eating.
Opposite her, Cole Hawke had also brought his meal over, eating leisurely.
"Look, the CEO is eating at the cafeteria."
"Wow, that woman with an extraordinary aura beside him must be Evelyn Miles."
"Oh my, the two of them look perfect together."
"I don’t need to eat. Just admiring their looks is enough to fill me."
"..."
The cafeteria was abuzz with excitement, employees eagerly discussing.
Elara Don paused in her eating, instinctively looking back.
Not far away, a tall man and a petite woman walked together, forming a beautiful scene.
Indeed, they were pleasant to look at, yet painful to see.
Elara Don felt a pang in her chest, silently turning back to her plate, losing her appetite.
Across from her, Cole Hawke observed Elara Don’s reaction, a slight curve at his lips.
He picked up a piece of meat and placed it in Elara Don’s bowl, "Elly, you’re too thin. Eat more."
"I’ve had enough to eat."
Elara Don set down her chopsticks, ready to leave.
"Elly, you haven’t finished your meal. No appetite? Why no appetite? Is it because seeing those two makes you uncomfortable?"
Cole Hawke deliberately provoked, looking at Elara Don.
Elara Don’s fingers curled slightly, her voice firm, "No such thing."
"Really not uncomfortable? Then finish the rest of the meal."
Cole Hawke pushed the meal forward, speaking softly, "Elly, I’ll always be with you."
Elara Don felt somewhat agitated inside.
She wanted to leave, not to see a certain silhouette.
But then she thought, why should she be affected by someone else?
Just consider him as nothing at all!
"Arthur."
Damon Hawke entered the cafeteria, searching for Elara Don.
Seeing her sitting with Cole Hawke, he walked over briskly.
Evelyn Miles followed behind him.
"Damon."
Cole Hawke smiled at him, his gaze falling on Evelyn Miles, "Samantha, back from abroad? Still as beautiful as ever."
"Hello, Arthur, long time no see, and as sweet-talking as ever."
Evelyn Miles replied with a polite smile.
Her gaze shifted to Elara Don, her almond eyes sparkling.
Vinny Hawke had showed her a photo of Elara Don later on, and she was surprised to see it was this woman.
From the side view, she really did resemble herself somewhat.
"Please, have a seat."
Cole Hawke gestured for the two to sit.
Damon Hawke kept looking at Elara Don, about to sit beside her.
Unexpectedly, Evelyn Miles stepped over first, seating herself next to Elara Don.
"Oh, hello, such a coincidence. You’re an employee at Hawke Corporation?"
Evelyn Miles feigned surprise as she spoke.
Elara Don had recognized Evelyn Miles straight away.
She hadn’t expected the woman who had criticized her son at the revolving restaurant to be Damon’s first love.
She gave a faint smile, not warmly.
Seeing this scene, Cole Hawke raised his eyebrow, a hint of interest in his eyes.
"You two know each other?"
"Yes, we’ve met once."
Evelyn Miles smiled innocently, "There was a little misunderstanding at the restaurant last time, but as the saying goes, ’a fight brings mutual understanding.’ I think this is fate."
Better to strike first and avoid this woman making a complaint.
Hearing Evelyn Miles’ words, Elara Don sneered inwardly.
She could tell; this was a real manipulator.
She wanted nothing to do with any lousy fate with this kind of manipulator.
"Hah, since you two have met, let me reintroduce you."
Cole Hawke reintroduced the two.
Looking at the cool and not-so-friendly Elara Don, Evelyn Miles extended her hand.
"So, you’re the perfumer Elara Don? Miss Thorne, you look so pure, right in line with my aesthetics. I feel that our looks are of the same type, and we could become good friends."
In front of Damon Hawke, she needed to act sweet and lovely.
Even if she thought Elara Don wasn’t worthy to carry her shoes!
