Chapter 51

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Just Pretend It Was a Dog Bite
Knock, knock. Rhun Quinn opened the door and stepped inside.
"Mr. Hawke..."
Just after starting to speak, upon seeing the position of the two on the sofa, Rhun Quinn gasped and quickly retreated.
"Sorry to interrupt, I didn’t see anything!"
Oh no!
He disturbed the boss’s intimate moment; would he be sent to Oakhaven?
But it really wasn’t his fault!
Who would have expected the boss, who’s always been abstinent, to act so differently lately, doing things beyond expectations!
Rhun Quinn wore a bitter expression, bracing himself for a reprimand.
Inside, Elara Don’s face turned red like the twilight glow, hastily pushing Damon Hawke away.
What did she just do?
She was kissed and didn’t resist?
And that kiss...
"Mr. Hawke, did I do something that made you misunderstand me? I solemnly declare now, I don’t like you, nor will I be anyone’s third party, so please maintain your dignity and don’t do baffling things anymore."
Elara Don shook her head, working to suppress the odd feeling, and with a flushed face, she hurriedly left.
He’s just a mercurial jerk!
Forget it; she doesn’t want to investigate his identity anymore!
She should stay far away from him in the future to avoid trouble!
As for that kiss, just consider it as being bitten by a dog!
Damon Hawke, who had just touched the woman’s red lips, hadn’t had the chance to savor it when he got interrupted.
His dark eyes were as deep as ink, watching her slender back, his Adam’s apple subtly moving.
"Charlotte, it’s decided then. In a few days, you’ll accompany Charlie for his kindergarten autumn outing."
She said she doesn’t like him?
Is it true?
He has another identity.
Craig Landers said she has a fondness for his other identity.
He doesn’t believe she’ll dislike both of his personas!
Elara Don’s steps halted, and she opened her mouth as if to refuse.
But then, the image of the little guy’s pitiful eyes flashed in her mind, looking at her with such sympathy and tenderness.
This damned nurturing instinct!
Elara Don admitted defeat, internally cursing herself, and left in a hurry.
The door opened and closed, and Damon Hawke undid two buttons on his chest, taking a big gulp from the teacup on the table.
So thirsty.
But the tea didn’t quench his thirst at all!
"Ahem, Boss, I came in to tell you that I’ve already ordered them not to spread gossip about you and Miss Charlotte, or they’ll be fired."
Rhun Quinn nervously entered the CEO’s office, gathering his courage to .
Damon Hawke slightly lifted his gaze, sending cold daggers in his direction.
"Deduct three months of bonus."
"Yes."
Well, luckily, it’s just a deduction of the bonus.
Next time before entering, he’ll definitely check if Miss Charlotte is in the office.
...
At dusk.
Elara Don went to pick up her son from school on time.
"Mommy."
Harry Soo saw Elara Don arrive and ran over with a smile.
Elara Don caught him, her brows and eyes full of tenderness.
"Mommy, this weekend our kindergarten is organizing an autumn outing with parental accompaniment. Do you have time?"
Harry Soo bid farewell to his little pals and held Elara Don’s hand, getting into a taxi.
Elara Don froze as she closed the car door, her almond eyes sparkling.
No way!
How can it be so coincidental?
Why are all the kindergartens having autumn outings this weekend?
What should she do?
"Mommy, are you unavailable? That’s okay, I can ask Uncle Miles to go with me."
Noticing Elara Don’s silence, Harry Soo thoughtfully offered an alternative.
Elara Don felt warmed and guilty, "Bea, Mommy needs to confess. This afternoon, Mommy promised the boss that I would accompany his son Charlie for the autumn outing."
"Ah? Mommy, you promised to accompany another child for the autumn outing!"
Harry Soo furrowed his little brows, his cheeks puffed in displeasure.
"Bea, Mommy didn’t know it would be so coincidental!"
Elara Don exhibited a guilty face, "You know, Charlie is very pitiful; his father is too busy with work to care for him, and his mommy wants to mistreat him. I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing, so I agreed."
Harry Soo said nothing, his lips pouting.
Elara Don scratched her brow, her almond eyes twinkling, "Bea, if you’re unhappy, Mommy can cancel. After all, my Bea is Mommy’s treasure, how could I neglect the one I love most? But if I do this, Mommy would break promises and poor Charlie would be left alone because his busy father won’t accompany him, leaving his dangerous mommy to go, who knows if she’d secretly mistreat him."
Harry Soo blinked, a struggle flickered in his bright black eyes.
After a while, he sighed like a grown-up.
"Mommy, if you go back on your word, wouldn’t the boss make things difficult for you? Never mind, I’m a magnanimous little man; for the sake of Mommy’s smooth work, I’ll begrudgingly agree to let you accompany him."
Mommy already said he’s her most beloved treasure.
He didn’t want mommy to have a hard time!
"Wow, as expected of my beloved bea, so understanding."
Elara Don showered her son with kisses.
"The destination you mentioned is the same as Charlie’s. On that day, let’s not bother Uncle Miles to accompany you; I’ll ask Kiki’s mom to bring you and Kiki together, then I’ll find an opportunity to meet you there, and you can meet Charlie then, okay?"
She knew her son had a soft heart.
See, she purposely painted a picture of hardship and quickly won his sympathy.
She’s awful!
"Uh, do you want me to meet Charlie?"
Harry Soo’s eyes sparkled, his big eyes rolling around.
If Mommy sees Dominic Hawke looks identical to him, what will she think!
Will she start favoring Charlie more than him in the future?
"Mommy, remember, you said your favorite is Bea."
Harry Soo hugged Elara Don coyly.
Elara Don chuckled softly, lovingly stroking his little head, "Yes, yes, Mommy will always remember, the favorite is my Bea. What do you want for dinner?"
"Anything Mommy cooks, I love all of it."
"Such sweet talk."
"..."
Mother and son chatted and laughed, exceptionally joyful.
No one anticipated the major event that would happen in two days.
On that day, the autumn sky was clear and refreshing.
Elara Don took leave and at the assigned time went to the elite kindergarten that Dominic Hawke attended.
Charlie’s former teacher had been replaced by another, greeting her with great manners.
Several parents who had advocated staying aloof upon seeing her again became more subdued.
Even though privately they may disdain everything about her, outwardly they treated her courteously.
Except for the plump mother, the matron of the Collins Family, who eyed her icily.
Elara Don didn’t care; after gathering, she boarded a bus with the other parents, finding Dominic’s seat with a smile, she went over and sat down.
