Chapter 114: Chapter 113: why... would they be together?
Eryx didn’t just enter the Phantom’s Den, he stormed in it. The doors slammed back against the wall. Azrael and Rhydric looked up from their quiet conversation.
Eryx stood there, chest rising and falling, his jaw clenched so tightly it looked carved from stone. His eyes burned not just with anger, but with betrayal.
"Alright," he growled, voice low and lethal, "which one of you motherfuckers spread it?"
Azrael raised a brow, nonchalant but sharp. "Spread what, Eryx?"
Eryx’s fists curled. "The rumour that I made out with Athena."
Azrael leaned back, arms folding over his chest with a calmness that was almost insulting. "Rumour? You did make out with her. And from what we heard, you didn’t exactly behave like a fucking saint." His voice cooled further. "You took advantage of her. There’s a difference."
That snapped something in Eryx.
He slammed his palm against the table; the whole room shook. "Took advantage?" he snarled. "You think I took advantage of her? Are you both out of your goddamn minds?"
Azrael didn’t flinch, but he also didn’t argue. He just watched, irritated as hell.
Eryx dragged a hand through his hair, pacing like a caged beast ready to tear through steel. "You weren’t there. Neither of you. You don’t know what the fuck happened. And yet you believed..." His voice cracked into a harsh laugh. "Actually believed I’d do something like that?"
Rhydric still hadn’t spoken. His gaze was steady but cold.
Eryx turned toward him. "Say something," he demanded. "I know you’re pissed at me too. So talk. Go on."
Rhydric didn’t move for a long moment. Then he exhaled slowly.
The guy looked like he’s always tired.
"We smelled her release on you," he said quietly. "Anyone would’ve drawn the same conclusion."
Eryx’s eyes flashed. "And instead of asking me, instead of trusting me, you drew that conclusion and ran with it?"
Azrael clicked his tongue. "Don’t act innocent, Eryx. The doctor confirmed she had a release. What were we supposed to think? That she fell on your lips by accident?"
Eryx froze. Then he stepped forward, shoulders squared, voice low with something darker than fury. Disappointment.
"You know what the funniest part is?" he said. "You two think I’m reckless, impulsive, whatever. But if I actually wanted to fuck Athena... I would have fucked her and fuck the hell out of her. Nobody could’ve stopped me. And I sure as hell wouldn’t have called for help, because at that time, she would have been so satisfied." He hissed the last words with a bitterness that stung.
Azrael’s expression became deadly.
Rhydric’s eyes sharpened, reading him deeper now. Even though the guy is reckless, he doesn’t think Eryx is capable of doing such a thing.
Eryx looked between them, chest heaving. "She kissed me first. She pulled me in. She pushed it. I stopped it before it went too far." His voice dropped, tired, raw. "But none of you even thought that was possible, did you?"
Silence.
Azrael finally shifted, jaw tightening. Not quite apologetic, but no longer accusatory.
Rhydric spoke again. "You should have told us."
Eryx let out a humorless laugh. "Maybe I would’ve... if you treated me like someone worth talking to."
Rhydric looked down briefly, the first sign of guilt. Azrael’s eyes softened by a fraction, though he hid it quickly.
Eryx stepped back, voice shaking with restrained emotion. "I came here to find out who spread that bullshit. But now I see the real problem." His gaze cut through them. "Somewhere along the line, you stopped believing in me."
He didn’t wait for a response.
He stormed out, leaving Azrael and Rhydric in the cold silence, both of them realizing that for the first time...
Eryx wasn’t just angry. He was hurt.
And when they thought everything was over, Eryx stormed back into the Phantom’s Den, his anger far from spent.
"And where the fuck is Theodore?" Eryx asked, his voice sharp. "Where is he, and where the hell is Athena?"
Azrael exchanged a glance with Rhydric, and for the first time, Eryx noticed the hesitation in their expressions. Neither of them spoke immediately.
Rhydric finally answered, his tone clipped but controlled. "They’re... not in school today."
Eryx’s eyes narrowed. "Not in school? That’s it? That’s all you know?" His voice was tight, seething. "Where the fuck are they? Are they together?!"
Azrael’s jaw clenched. "I don’t know if they’re together. All I know is, Athena didn’t come to school, and Theodore hasn’t shown up either."
Eryx took a step forward, his presence almost suffocating the room. "Not knowing isn’t good enough. Why would they be together? What the fuck is going on?"
Rhydric stayed silent this time, his turning colder as he looked at Eryx like he was measuring just how far he could go before breaking down in tears.
Azrael’s voice was lower now. "Eryx... maybe you should calm down first. We don’t know exactly what happened."
Eryx’s hand curled into a fist at his side, his voice dropping into a growl. "I don’t need to calm down. I need to know. Where are they, and why the fuck would they be together?"
The tension in the room was electric. Neither Azrael nor Rhydric even knows whether Theo and Athena are together.
Rhydric looked at Eryx and shook his head. Athena was definitely going to be the death of them. Like, why was he being so worked up over nothing. They’re not even sure Athena and Theodore are together. There is a possibility that Athena is in her house and Theo is in his. But no single brain cell when that girl is involve. Silly asshole.
Eryx’s eyes scanned the room, cutting through them both, searching for answers. "If either of you even thought about keeping me in the dark..." His voice sharpened to a razor edge, "I swear to God, I’ll find out myself."
Rhydric rolled his eyes, clearly not going to entertain Eryx’s bullshit. "Eryx... whatever it is, they’re not in school. That’s all we know for sure."
Eryx’s teeth clenched. His mind raced with thought of Theodore and Athena being together. Alone. Did they share a room? Did they kiss? What if something happened between them? His jaw flexed as he muttered, almost to himself, "Why... why would they be together?"
