Chapter 119: Chapter 117: Don’t you dare...
Levi straightened, reaching into his pocket. "But you really need to see this."
Athena’s eyes followed his hand, curious, until they widened as he pulled out her phone.
"You forgot this at the party," Levi said, raising an eyebrow. "And honestly, I’m getting sick and tired of your boyfriend calling me every five minutes."
Athena froze. Oliver must have called. She felt a sudden rush of guilt. Fuck...she’s such a bitch, she thought, her hands instinctively reaching for the phone.
She snatched it from him, her fingers tightening around it. She needed to call him before he books a flight back. He’s probably worried sick."
Levi’s smile widened, but he didn’t say anything. Instead, he just leaned against her desk, watching her flustered state.
Athena didn’t notice his teasing stare as she rushed out of the classroom, her mind already dialing Oliver’s number.
Levi looked after her, slightly frowning, and muttered to himself, "Not even a thank you..." He shook his head, chuckling quietly.
Meanwhile, the other students were still staring, whispering among themselves.
"She’s really something..."
"Just look at the way she just ignored everyone else like she owns the place..."
======
Athena bolted down the hallway, her heart hammering in her chest. Students turned their heads instinctively, whispering and glancing at her, but she didn’t care. She only wanted to get away, and call him.
Before she could make it far, a hand shot out, firmly, tugging her into a classroom. She stumbled slightly and let out a sharp gasp as her back slammed against the door behind her.
Her eyes widened as she realized who had trapped her. Rhydric. His presence filled the space, his face just an inch from hers, eyes burning into her like molten fire.
"What the fuck is wrong with you, Rhydric?" she demanded, trying to shove him away, but he didn’t budge an inch.
He ignored her outburst, his gaze unwavering, his jaw tight.
"What are you, Athena?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous, reverberating in the empty classroom.
Athena pushed him hard, nearly catching him off balance. "What bullshit are you saying?" she snapped, her chest rising and falling rapidly, frustration and fear mingling in her voice. "Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound right now?"
Rhydric’s gaze narrowed. His eyes held a dangerous calm, like a predator studying its prey, yet there was an intensity that made Athena’s breath hitch.
"You think I’m joking?" he growled, leaning just slightly closer, his presenc suffocating. "I want to know what you really are... and don’t even think about lying."
Athena’s hands trembled as she pressed them against his chest, trying to create space, but the heat radiating from him made it impossible to think clearly. Her pulse spiked, and despite her anger, there was an undeniable pull, a tension that made her stomach twist.
"I’m telling you, this is insane! You’re insane!" she said, voice wavering, trying to push him back again. "Step the fuck back before I..."
But Rhydric’s hand shot out, catching her wrist with a grip firm enough to stop her mid-motion. "Don’t lie to me,"
Athena froze, her chest heaving, realizing just how dangerously close they were.
"I... I don’t know what you’re talking about, Rhydric," Athena whispered, trying to keep her voice steady, though a tremor betrayed her nerves. He didn’t care.
"You came to my bathroom last night," he said, his voice low, a sharp edge cutting through the air between them. "You were kissing me."
Her eyes widened. "Have you lost your mind?"
"Yes," he snapped, stepping closer, that his chest met hers. "I’ve lost all my senses. You’re messing with my brain... my composure... my sanity, Athena."
His words were a whisper now, so close she could feel the warmth of his breath on her ear. Her pulse raced; her chest tightened, and her knees felt weak.
"I... I don’t know what you’re talking about," she repeated, clutching her phone as if it could anchor her to reality. She wanted to push him away. She needed to.
But the way he looked at her intensely, made her body betray her. A flicker of heat pooled deep in her stomach, and she fought it, hating herself for it even as it spread.
Rhydric pulled back slightly, scanning her from head to toe, taking in the curve of her shoulders, the way her messy bun’s strands fell around her face, the fragile tremble of her hands. He wasn’t imagining last night. Her presence was real.
Athena shrank under his gaze, feeling smaller, exposed, yet unexplainably alive in a way that scared her.
He moved closer again. His fingers hovered over the buttons of her white uniform jacket. Her eyes widened, a mixture of fear and something else she refused to name.
"I... you can’t.." she stammered, trying to put space between them.
"Wait I need to confirm something," he said, low and controlled. "Whether I’m imagining this... or if you’re lying, I’ll know now."
Her pulse hammered in her ears. "R-Rhydric... please, don’t."
He ignored her words. His hands moved fast, sliding to the jacket buttons, undoing them one by one despite her frantic swats, her soft protests. Her body felt torn. She wanted him to stop, wanted to resist, wanted to scream... but a small, rebellious part of her wanted him closer, wanted him to see her, to test her, to push her boundaries.
She yanked at him, trying to pull him away. "I said stop!" she gasped, but the words felt hollow as a shiver ran down her spine. Her heart betrayed her, pounding faster with each motion of his hands.
He removed the jacket, letting it fall to the floor, and her inner struggle became a storm...her rational mind screaming "fight!" while her body whispered "don’t." She felt heat rise to her cheeks, breath catching, hands trembling.
Next came the inner coat. Athena fought, tugging at his wrists, trying to create distance, her legs pressing back against him. "R-Rhydric... you can’t just..."
"I need to know," he said. His eyes drank her in as he slowly undid the buttons of her coat, one by one, each click sending jolts of electricity up her spine.
Athena’s protests grew louder, sharper. "Stop! Don’t touch me like this!" But at the same time, her fingers twitched, unconsciously tracing his forearm, her chest tightening in a way that made her hate herself. She was fighting, but a part of her wanted him to continue, wanted to feel the intensity of him pressed against her.
The last button of her shirt gave way, and her it fell to the floor, leaving her in her netted bra. The cool air brushed over her skin, making her shiver, and her own desire made her cheeks burn.
Rhydric’s gaze darkened, hungry and searching. He reached for her again, gently turning her to inspect her back, scanning for any sign of last night’s supposed encounter. But there was nothing. Not a single mark. Her skin was pristine, flawless, untouched, like the sun itself had never traced her curves.
"How is this possible...?" he muttered, his voice a mix of confusion and awe.
Before he could process it, a sharp, stinging slap landed on his cheek. Athena’s palm burned, but she didn’t care. "Don’t you dare!" she hissed, chest heaving.
