Daughter of oblivion: Claimed by four alpha(s)-Chapter 136 - 134: Visionary Chamber.
Chapter 136: Chapter 134: Visionary Chamber.
Athena swallowed hard, refusing to turn back and look at the chaos following behind her. But she could feel it.
She could feel everything, the weight of their eyes, the stares of the school, the fire, the jealousy, the protectiveness. And strangely...It didn’t scare her.
For the first time ever...She felt powerful.
Suddenly, the PA system crackled to life, and the hallways were filled with a smooth, robotic voice.
"Scholars of Gravecrest Academy," it said, each word crisp and clear, vibrating faintly along the corridor. "You are requested to proceed immediately to the Visionary Chamber. Attendance is mandatory."
A collective gasp rippled through the students nearby.
"Visionary Chamber?" someone whispered, eyes wide. "They only go there once in a while right?"
Athena paused mid-step, brow furrowed. She wasn’t entirely sure what the Visionary Chamber was, she had only heard the name mentioned in passing. She glanced over her shoulder at the four men behind her.
"The Visionary Chamber... what is that exactly?" she asked quietly, her voice barely above the hum of whispering students.
Rhydric, walking steadily beside her, answered. "It’s... a special chamber used for events of significance. Rare events. Scholars don’t enter often, only for challenges, announcements, or occasions that require... attention from all students."
Athena nodded slowly, processing the information. "So... a special event is happening again?" she asked, her tone tentative.
Azrael, walking slightly behind, tilted his head and offered a small nod. "Maybe."
Athena looked thoughtful, her gaze drifting ahead. For a moment, she was silent, lost in the idea of whatever unusual occurrence had warranted calling every student to the chamber.
Around her, the corridor buzzed with whispers and speculation, but the four behind her remained steady, their presence silently commanding respect.
Students nearby couldn’t help but watch. The way Athena interacted with the Phantom Fours, the subtle exchange between them, it was mesmerizing. Eyes darted from her to the boys and back again, curiosity and a touch of envy flickering in many.
Without another word, Athena and the four men began moving toward the staircase leading to the upper floors.
When they finally reached the doors of the Visionary Chamber, Athena hesitated for just a moment. The doors opened were impressive, blue-tinted glass stretching from floor to ceiling, reflecting the sunlight in shimmering waves. The material seemed almost alive, catching the faintest hint of motion, refracting light in patterns that made the chamber appear larger than it truly was.
Inside, a large group of students had already gathered. Athena spotted Felicia, Levi, Armand, Alaric, and Leo near the center, their expressions a mixture of curiosity and cautious excitement. They waved at her, and she offered a small smile in return, surprised to see them here so early.
The Phantom Fours guided her to the front row, where Felicia and the others stood. Though everyone maintained a respectful distance given the tension in the air.
The walls of the chamber were expansive glass panels, giving the space an almost cathedral-like openness. A massive screen stretched across one side of the room, its surface dark and reflective, awaiting activation. The blue ambient light from the panels bathed everything in a serene, almost ethereal glow, casting faint shadows that shifted with every movement.
A mechanical hum filled the room, and the robotic voice spoke again. This time, its words echoed from multiple points, amplified and translated onto the wide screen in crisp, glowing letters.
"Welcome, scholars of Gravecrest Academy," the voice intoned. "You are gathered here for a singular purpose. A challenge will be presented to you...a test of intellect, strategy, and ingenuity. Participation is mandatory. Success will be rewarded. Failure... will not be forgotten."
A murmur ran through the students, a mixture of apprehension and excitement.
Athena’s eyes swept the room, noting the anxious, eager expressions around her. Some students were exchanging theories, others were quietly observing, heads tilted as if trying to decipher clues from the chamber itself.
Despite the murmuring, Athena, the Phantom Fours, and her friends...Felicia, Armand, Alaric, Levi, and Leo shared a brief glance. None of them smiled. Their shared expression was one of focused anticipation, a quiet acknowledgment that whatever was coming required concentration, not distraction.
"Scholars of Gravecrest Academy," it began, each syllable precise, and smooth. "You are about to participate in a series of intellectual challenges. Six riddles will be presented. The first scholar to solve each riddle correctly will earn the right to select ten teammates. Only one winner per riddle. Only the most cunning and perceptive may prevail."
A low murmur ran through the students, rising and falling like waves against the walls.
"Six riddles... only one winner each?" someone muttered. "This is insane..."
"I’m not sure I like the sound of this," whispered another, voice trembling slightly. "What if I get nothing?"
Felicia leaned close to Athena, her voice a soft tremor of worry and anticipation. "Athena... are the riddles going to be hard?"
Athena shrugged lightly, her own brow furrowed. "How would I know?" she murmured. Her eyes flicked to the glowing television screen, then to the mechanical voice’s unseen source. "We’ll know in about... time."
A small chuckle drew her attention, and she glanced over her shoulder. Theodore was watching her, a small smile playing on his lips. Their eyes met, and for a heartbeat the room, the murmurs, the flashing lights all seemed to blur around them.
Athena’s cheeks heated immediately, and she quickly lowered her gaze back to the screen, pretending to study the words as if she hadn’t just been caught staring.
Felicia noticed the flush spreading across her friend’s face and widened her own eyes slightly, but wisely kept her mouth shut, letting Athena regain her composure.
The mechanical voice continued. "Prepare yourselves, scholars. The first riddle will be presented shortly. Your intellect, logic, and observation will be tested. Only those with sharp minds shall earn the right to select their allies."
The blue glow of the glass walls reflected the students’ anxious, excited expressions. Even Athena was anxious.
And then, finally, the first riddle appeared on the screen, glowing brightly against the cool blue of the chamber.
