Chapter 97: Chapter 96: The party disaster II
The Midnight Atrium was already roaring with music when the double glass doors at the entrance slid open.
And then the entire place went silent.
Not fully, the speakers were still blasting, lights still flashing but something in the atmosphere shifted. Heads turned. Conversations froze. Drinks halted mid-sip.
Athena stepped in first and every single male organism with a functioning pulse forgot how to breathe.
Her white dress clung to her body in all the right places, the soft net fabric and spaghetti straps shimmering under the strobe lights. The fitted bra-cup held her boobs perfectly...(although half of it are on display). The cinched waist sculpting her figure, and the short flare skirt brushing mid-thigh made her look like she’d stepped straight out of a forbidden dream.
But it was her hair that killed them.
The long, think natural snow-white hair, it’s glossy and looking freshly wet even though it wasn’t, cascading down her back like icy silk. The soft glow from the lights kissed her hair, making it gleam like moonwater. Her makeup was barely there, soft, light, enhancing her sharp eyes and delicate mouth without stealing attention from the rest of her.
She looked cold, beautiful and untouchable. Like trouble wrapped in elegance.
And right beside her... Felicia was pure fire.
A long, black bodycon dress hugged every line of her figure, the high slit lifting dangerously with each of her steps, revealing toned beautiful legs that had several guys cursing under their breath. Her messy bun was perfectly imperfect, a few loose strands framing her face, giving her a wild, seductive look.
Together, the two of them looked like sin walking on two pairs of legs.
And every male student in the atrium lost their soul.
But none were hit harder than the Phantom Four.
RHYDRIC...the Alpha of the East who was surrounded by his pack members actually froze. The moment Athena stepped into the atrium, his breathing stopped.
The kind of freeze that looked like his brain short-circuited and refused to reboot.
A faint tightening pulled at his jaw, his eyes sharpening like he was trying to assess whether she was even real. His fingers curled slightly around his glass, knuckles whitening for half a second before he relaxed forcing his face back to its usual cold neutrality.
But the damage had been done because, he couldn’t look away.
Theo on the other hand was leaning over the snooker table, cue stick in hand, a cocky smirk on his face as Azrael complained about something, when he saw her.
His smirk vanished so fast it practically fell off his face. Theodore didn’t move for a full three seconds, expression blank, before he whispered, "You’ve got to be kidding me."
He straightened slowly, eyes dragging down Athena’s body and back up again, disbelief stretching across his features.
Who the fuck is the mother of this beauty? He had always knew she was beautiful but this? This was beyond being naturally beautiful. She was magnificent.
Azrael’s reaction was nothing like the others.
His body tensed sharply, like someone had pulled a string deep inside him.
His eyes locked onto her hair first. They always did. That white waterfall had a hold on him he couldn’t explain, something electric and maddening and impossible to ignore.
He couldn’t even breath. Well how could he? What if he breath and she disappear? He wasn’t going to risk that by breathing. He would rather die than let her disappear.
He simply stared at her as though the rest of the room had ceased to exist.
His hand tightened around his snooker cue, so hard the veins in his forearm rose. A storm flickered behind his eyes, a barely-contained hunger, but he wasn’t foolish enough to act on publicly.
But anyone looking at him would see it. Azrael wasn’t just staring.
He was seconds from walking straight up to her and kissing the hell out of her and forget a party was going on.
Eryx had been sitting alone at the other end of the party, leaning back in his chair with that usual careless arrogance, one leg crossed over the other, pretending the party didn’t bored him. All because of Athena hadn’t arrived yet.
Then he saw her. And the fire wolf stood up.
He didn’t even realize he’d moved until the chair screeched behind him. His drink nearly flipped. His eyes widened. His gaze dragged over her like he was burning her image into his memory.
He doesn’t care if she was already living there already. He just want to kidnap the girl and ran away with her.
May the moon goddess grant his ridiculous wish.
If Athena didn’t come to him right now...he was definitely going to her.
Athena on the other hand, could feel all of their hot-burning gaze on her. All of them.
Four of the most powerful, most terrifying, most dangerous males in the entire school, each one staring at her like she’d just walked in wearing nothing but oxygen.
Her heartbeat stuttered. Her fingers curled against her palm.
She felt small for a moment...small and exposed and caught in a spotlight she never asked for. Their gazes pinned her like invisible hands. Azrael’s icy intensity, Rhydric’s unreadable stillness, Theo’s startled stillness, and Eryx’s molten fire that burned from across the room.
And then that fire rose. He literally stood.
Her stomach dropped. Every muscle in her body tensed like she’d been plugged into a live wire.
No. No. No.
This was exactly what she didn’t want.
Athena lifted her chin a fraction, gathering whatever dignity she had left.
The first rule to surviving this chaos?
Ignore them. All of them. Completely.
Even if her chest tightened. Even if her palms were sweating. Even if her entire body felt their eyes like heat on her skin.
She kept walking.
Didn’t look left. Didn’t look right.
Didn’t check if Eryx was still standing and watching.(he absolutely was).
She aimed straight for Levi, Leo, Alaric, and Armand with Felicia glued to her side, grinning at her like her plan was successful.
She didn’t know, she was about to receive her too.
The moment Felicia stepped into Armand line of sight, Armand’s breath hitched so sharply he had to shut his eyes for half a second.
A low, almost inaudible sound slipped from his throat as he dragged a hand through his hair, trying but failing to steady himself.
His jaw clenched. Not here...fuck...not when the entire atrium was packed and he was supposed to be normal.
Her scent hit him like a punch. It slammed straight into every restraint he had ever learned.
The muscles in his shoulders tightened until he felt them ache.
Felicia kept walking. Closer. Closer.
Her slit dress revealing a long sweep of leg that made his head spin.
His pulse hammered.
He could feel sweat forming at his temple not from heat, but from the sheer force of trying to stay in control.
He stared at the floor. Then at her face. Then back at the floor because...damn it, looking too long was dangerous.
Alaric wasn’t much better.
He hid it well and better than Armand even managing to straighten his posture and fold his arms casually, eyes calm.
But Athena wasn’t looking at him, so she didn’t see the subtle tension in his jaw... the slight tightness around his eyes... the way his throat bobbed once like he was swallowing something thick.
He was holding himself together, but barely.
Felicia’s presence was bad enough. Very bad.
But Athena? Athena in white?
Alaric’s control strained like someone had tied a rope around it and was slowly pulling.
He forced his breathing to slow. Forced his eyes to stop lingering and force his fingers to relax.
Felicia felt their eyes on her eyes on her. Specifically Armand’s eyes.
Her skin prickled. Goosebumps raced down her arms even though the room was warm. She didn’t understand it, didn’t understand why he was staring at her like that, like she had personally offended the balance of his universe by existing.
"What’s his problem?" she whispered to Athena.
Athena didn’t answer. She was too busy trying to look unbothered. Busy fighting a war she didn’t have before coming to this school, where four guys were all tormenting her.
Felicia swallowed and kept walking, even though Armand’s gaze clung to her like static electricity.
Leo was mid-rant as usual. "...and I’m telling you, Levi, if I had abs like those guys, I would never wear a shirt. Ever. They’d have to expel me for indecent exposure. And honestly? I wouldn’t blame them..."
He stopped when Athena and Felicia reached them but only because Levi smacked the back of his head.
Levi turned, eyes warm and normal, completely oblivious to the supernatural crisis happening beside them.
"Athena. Felicia. You two look...wow."
"Insanely hot," Leo added without shame. "Like, illegal hot. My eyeballs might sue."
Felicia snorted. Athena cracked a tiny smile.
Alaric looked away before anyone saw the flicker of jealousy in his eyes.
Armand clenched his jaw harder. And across the atrium, Eryx watched Athena ignore him.
And his expression turned slow, dangerous, and wicked. He wasn’t going to let that slide.
Athena plastered on a polite smile, "Hey, Armand... Alaric," she greeted softly.
Felicia lifted a hand and waved. "Hi, boys."
Alaric nodded back, lips twitching. "You two look incredible tonight."
But Armand...Armand didn’t nod. Didn’t even blink or breathe.
Bro is literally fighting for his daummnn life.
He just stared at Felicia like something inside him had snapped loose.
His silver eyes were almost glowing. Glitching with something dangerous and bearly conteolled hunger. Sweat clung to his temple, trailing slowly down the side of his jaw. His chest rose and fell unsteadily, like breathing itself was a battle he wasn’t winning.
Felicia pretended not to notice, but her shoulders tightened.
Athena felt the tension too. She sat down anyway, determined to act normal, determined to preteding the phantom fours weren’t watching her from across the room.
Pretending there’s not another maniac staring at her friend like she’s something to be eaten.
