Chapter 1371 - Blood Fiend Battlefield
Riding on Fiery's back, Liu Wuxie left the fortress and headed toward the Heavenly Dragon Sect. With Elder Sword guarding the Heavenly Dao Society, he felt no need to worry about their safety.
Ever since he awakened the Ghost Pupil, his perception had sharpened severalfold, allowing him to sense even the slightest disturbance from ten thousand miles away. Elder Sword believed he had concealed himself well, but he still couldn't slip past Liu Wuxie's gaze.
Before Liu Wuxie even reached the Heavenly Dragon Sect, Elder Sword had already appeared in front of him.
"Come with me," Elder Sword said, since astral beasts weren't allowed to enter the lesser realm. This meant Fiery could only stay outside.
Liu Wuxie patted Fiery's head, and the beast dove into the mountain range, while he followed Elder Sword into the Heavenly Dragon Sect's lesser realm.
This wasn't Liu Wuxie's first visit to the lesser realm. Under Elder Sword's guidance, he entered a pavilion. Though the pavilion looked unadorned and straightforward, it carried an ethereal aura, and every beam and stone had endured the erosion of countless years.
Just running his hand across a stone made it feel as if a thousand stories flowed back into him. Over the past million years, every flower, every blade of grass, and even the rocks here had birthed a trace of spirituality.
"Go in. Your master has been waiting for you," Elder Sword said as he turned away.
When Liu Wuxie walked up to the pavilion and stepped inside, he saw Hua Feiyu seated cross-legged on a meditation cushion, facing him.
"I pay my respect to master!" Liu Wuxie said, bowing deeply.
"Come, have a seat!" Space distorted, and a meditation mat appeared before Liu Wuxie. The mat was a manifestation of laws, just like everything else here aside from the buildings. Even the celestial cranes soaring through the sky were only half real, with the other half woven entirely from laws.
"Master, did something happen for you to find me so urgently?" Liu Wuxie asked after he sat down.
Hua Feiyu had given him only two days to settle his affairs after returning from the True Martial Star. The moment that the deadline ended, Elder Sword was already waiting outside the sect. Liu Wuxie knew Hua Feiyu wouldn't have summoned him at such a time unless something truly urgent had occurred.
After all, the Heavenly Dao Society had only just begun to step onto the right path, and everything still depended on him. For his master to call him away now meant Hua Feiyu must have encountered a serious problem.
"Something happened to your senior brother," Hua Feiyu said, going straight to the point.
Liu Wuxie's heart tightened at those words. His eldest senior brother had already reached the high levels of the Void Realm, so what could threaten him? He recalled Hua Feiyu mentioning that his eldest senior brother had gone to the Blood Fiend Battlefield, and aside from experts at the Earth Immortal Realm, no one should be able to endanger him there.
Moreover, the Blood Fiend Astral Lord had signed an agreement with Emperor Haoyuan that experts at the Earth Immortal Realm weren't allowed to participate in the war. That meant there shouldn't be anyone capable of threatening his eldest senior brother's safety on the Blood Fiend Battlefield.
"Please continue," Liu Wuxie said. He understood that his master would never joke about something like this.
"Five days ago, something bizarre took place on the Blood Fiend Battlefield. Many human cultivators mysteriously vanished, and countless others died at the hands of blood fiends. Nothing like this has ever happened before," Hua Feiyu explained.
The bad news had reached them from the Blood Fiend Battlefield not long after Liu Wuxie returned from the True Martial Star.
"Did the blood fiends send out an Earth Immortal to ambush senior brother?" Liu Wuxie asked, probing for more details.
"No. According to our sources, something strange happened that day. Three suns appeared in the sky, and many black holes opened, dragging large numbers of human cultivators into them," Hua Feiyu said. He waved his hand, forming a projection in front of Liu Wuxie. Many cultivators had used Memory Talismans to record the scene.
Liu Wuxie watched three red suns hang high in the sky as mountains and rivers split apart. The world seemed to invert, and black holes appeared everywhere, devouring everything around them.
His heart pounded as he watched; this was the first time he had ever seen such a terrifying spectacle.
"What about the blood fiends? How heavy are their losses?" Liu Wuxie asked. Since the human clan had suffered such severe casualties, the blood fiends should have paid a price as well.
"The blood fiends also suffered losses, but they are nothing compared to the humans. Most of the humans who entered the Blood Fiend Battlefield vanished, including your eldest senior brother," Hua Feiyu replied. According to their investigations, the blood fiends had been unusually quiet for the past few days.
"Are the three red suns still there?" Liu Wuxie asked, his brows knitting together as he searched through his memories, a vague guess formed in his mind.
"No. The three red suns only appeared for a single day," Hua Feiyu answered. He hid nothing and shared everything he knew with Liu Wuxie.
"Master, you want me to go to the Blood Fiend Battlefield, investigate this matter, and search for my older brother's whereabouts?" Liu Wuxie asked. He could tell Hua Feiyu hadn't summoned him to recount what had happened there.
"You're the only one I can trust. Elder Sword's cultivation is too high, so he can't enter the Blood Fiend Battlefield. Your second senior brother and third senior sister aren't in the Heavenly Dragon Sect, so you're the only person I can depend on," Hua Feiyu said helplessly.
He treated all four of his disciples equally. Now that the eldest was in danger, how could the youngest possibly stand by and do nothing?
"When do I depart?" Liu Wuxie asked, rising to his feet.
Since his master had come to him for help, he naturally wouldn't refuse. Besides, he owed his return to the True Martial Star entirely to Hua Feiyu.
"Immediately!" Hua Feiyu said. Time was of the essence, and the other superpowers had already sent their elites to the Blood Fiend Battlefield to investigate. Their own elites had also vanished mysteriously, and there was no way those forces would let the matter rest.
"Understood," Liu Wuxie said, then turned to leave.
"Hold on! The Grand Unity Sect won't let you go so easily on this trip to the Blood Fiend Battlefield. Take this token with you. I have sealed five hundred years of my power into it, and even ordinary experts at the Earth Immortal Realm would find it hard to withstand its strike," Hua Feiyu said. He waved his hand, and a token streaked through the air, coming to a stop in front of Liu Wuxie.
The token contained five hundred years of power from a Quasi-Immortal Realm expert, and it could even kill cultivators at the low levels of the Earth Immortal Realm.
"Thank you, master!" Liu Wuxie said, putting the token away, excitement flickering across his face.
"I have yet to congratulate you on becoming a planet lord and am already sending you to the Blood Fiend Battlefield. I'll make it up to you properly when you return," Hua Feiyu said, his voice tinged with guilt.
Elder Sword waited at the entrance of the lesser realm, and as soon as Liu Wuxie emerged, he swiftly led him out of the Indigo Bamboo Astral Domain. He escorted Liu Wuxie all the way to ensure his safety until they reached the Blood Fiend Battlefield. Once they arrived, Liu Wuxie would have to rely on himself.
Even if they told no one that Liu Wuxie had left the Heavenly Dragon Sect, the Grand Unity Sect could easily deduce it through divination.
"Wuxie, your path will only become even more perilous now that you've become the True Martial Star's planet lord. Once they link the interstellar teleportation array, the True Martial Star will stand fully exposed to the public. At that time, countless experts will come, wanting to seize it. You only have three years to reach the Earth Immortal Realm," Elder Sword said gravely. There were some things Hua Feiyu couldn't say directly, so he had Elder Sword relay the message.
"I understand," Liu Wuxie replied. He knew his current situation even without Elder Sword's reminder.
The True Martial Star was safe for now, but what about three years later? A newly formed planet with such rich resources would become everyone's target. Moreover, the True Martial Star originated from the Indigo Bamboo Star, indicating it still had significant growth potential.
To occupy the True Martial Star, the first thing everyone would have to do was kill the previous planet lord and replace him.
While three years might sound like a long time, it was pitifully short. Trying to reach the Earth Profound Realm within three years was nearly impossible.
He might be Hua Feiyu's disciple, but even a Quasi-Immortal couldn't intervene on his behalf in many matters.
When the two of them arrived at the interstellar teleportation array, they could use it to reach the Blood Fiend Astral Domain. Elder Sword handled everything along the way, while Liu Wuxie kept Fiery inside the beast pouch, with no intention of letting it out.
Countless cultivators had gone to the Blood Fiend Battlefield over the past few days, and Liu Wuxie waited in line through three rounds of teleportation before it was finally their turn.
When the teleportation array lit up, a powerful spatial distortion crushed in from all directions. The entire process lasted for about two hours before the pressure finally eased. As Liu Wuxie stepped out of the teleportation array, a powerful tide of laws surged into his body.
A thick metallic stench filled the air at their destination. Countless stars glittered in the distant skies, but many of the planets looked drained, and evident traces of blood fiends scarred those planets.
"The planet up ahead is the Blood Fiend Battlefield. It's enormous, and blood fiends have occupied it for thousands of years. You have to be careful there," Elder Sword said, pointing to the largest planet, which was only slightly smaller than the Indigo Bamboo Star.
"Elder Sword, thank you for escorting me here. I'll have to trouble you to take care of the Heavenly Dao Society during my absence," Liu Wuxie said, cupping his fists toward Elder Sword. He had no plans of returning before he found his senior brother and could only entrust the Heavenly Dao Society's safety to Elder Sword.
"Don't worry about it. Nothing will happen to the Heavenly Dao Society with me around," Elder Sword replied, reassuring Liu Wuxie.
With that, Liu Wuxie turned and flew alone toward the Blood Fiend Battlefield.
Watching Liu Wuxie's departing figure, Elder Sword sighed softly and muttered, "You must come back alive."
Then Elder Sword turned back toward the teleportation array and departed, heading for the Heavenly Dao Society.
Liu Wuxie flew for about a minute before reaching the Blood Fiend Battlefield. The air here hung heavy with a coppery reek of blood. Every breath he drew made his body feel uncomfortable, and his inner demon began to stir.
He immediately strengthened the seal to prevent her inner demon from awakening and activated Ghost Eye to survey his surroundings. The Blood Fiend Battlefield was bizarre; the planet wasn't round but diamond-shaped. There was no cycle of day and night, and the battlefield lay at the boundary between light and darkness.
Sunlight couldn't reach the planet, and the moon only skimmed past its edge, leaving the entire world shrouded in gray. Yet this environment perfectly suited the blood fiends, who preferred neither blinding brightness nor absolute darkness.
When Liu Wuxie swept his gaze around, he saw traces of countless battles. Almost no trees remained; most had been destroyed as collateral damage in clashes between humans and blood fiends.
He noticed dozens of figures in the distance, seemingly searching for something. The Blood Fiend Battlefield was vast, and under normal circumstances, it would take a year to reach its edge.
Summoning the map in his mind, he unfolded the entire structure of the Blood Fiend Battlefield clearly before his inner sight.
"Three blood suns, could it really be...?" Liu Wuxie murmured, a grave look settling in his eyes.
