Chapter 1369: Chapter 209: In Hell, No One Can Kill a Cat
"Did your brother never mention me to you?"
"That guy is the shame of the Demons!" The sharp voice became even more piercing with the growl: "Keeping a verbal promise, giving 80% of the profit to a weak delicious soul all for the laughable sake of fairness, what does it think we are?"
Lu Li realized that what the Devil’s Son had said about the Devil Monarch valuing it might be true. That Abyssal Demon valued order, and the Devil’s Son was a practitioner of order, even possessing a knight-like character.
"So why have you come here?"
"Hand over your power to create plants, and become my pet..."
Chill surged again as the Devil’s Daughter licked the back of Lu Li’s neck.
"The first is impossible," Lu Li refused.
"And the second?"
"Also impossible."
The Devil’s Daughter, who had been mocked, clenched her hand that had reached deep into Lu Li’s soul, but the soul before her suddenly shattered like a bubble.
"You underestimated your brother; he might be naive but he’s not a fool."
A calm voice sounded, and Lu Li’s silhouette appeared from the side.
"You underestimated me too..."
The image of the Devil’s Daughter also disappeared, reappearing behind Lu Li, claws reaching into the soul, but as they tightened, Lu Li’s silhouette once again turned into a bubble.
"If I were truly weak, the Demon of the Earth wouldn’t have conceded these benefits."
Lu Li, appearing by the window, calmly watched it: "It trades with me because we are equals."
Realizing that the avatar struggled against the seemingly fragile soul, the Devil’s Daughter maintained her malice, her phantasm dispersed, leaving only a chilling curse lingering in the tower room.
"Soul, you will pay for this..."
Lu Li tried to grasp the Devil’s Daughter but failed; it was only an avatar.
From its reaction, it seemed the Demon of the Earth wouldn’t need to yield 20% of the profits after all.
As for the Devil’s Daughter’s threat, Lu Li initially couldn’t comprehend its meaning, only assuming it was an uncurse-like harsh word, indicating it would eventually make a comeback, until the time to feed the cats arrived.
Lu Li scooped up the sand-like small souls from the silver box filled with souls. They expanded due to the loss of suppression, forming an organism that slowly streamed like a bread embryo.
Having prepared the food, Lu Li swept over the misty ring and found the cat group missing.
The Void Warehouse belonged to the Abyssal Demon, and the Devil’s Offspring should have the right to manage the warehouse.
Did the Devil’s Daughter notice his Void Ring?
Lu Li left the tower and had the demon guards stationed downstairs contact the Devil’s Son, but it was evidently too late for it to arrive.
"Do you know about the Devil’s Daughter?"
Lu Li inquired of the demon guards.
The demon guards informed Lu Li that the Abyssal Demon had seven offspring. The Demon of the Earth was the second son, and the Heart Plundering Demon was the Abyssal Demon’s youngest and only daughter.
And Lu Li obtained a crucial piece of information: the Devil’s Daughter’s manor was located on the southern outskirts of Abyss City, with no barrier between "Ward Town" and the Devil’s Daughter Manor.
Not knowing how long the Devil’s Daughter had taken to steal the cat group, Lu Li wasted no more time. An eccentric and bizarre dreamscape unfolded, extending streets, engulfing the town, sprawling over the surface like a cloud that obscured the sun, instantaneously covering the nearly four kilometers of barren land.
The merchants at the edge of the town grew restless when the night sky that shrouded the ground suddenly vanished.
Some merchants saw a black light appear in the distance, which disappeared in an instant.
Lu Li, within the tower, appeared at the edge of the dreamwalker, then vanished again, reappearing at the edge of the newly extended area.
After flickering dozens of times within seconds, Lu Li approached the outskirts of Abyss City.
Far off on the horizon, the black obsidian wall couldn’t yet be seen, but the buildings of the Devil’s Daughter Manor were scattered beneath his feet.
The bizarre dreamscape began to infiltrate this space, demons within the manor looked up, terrified to see a silhouette suspended in the air, with dark rifts climbing behind, filling the air like the world was shattering to reveal a backdrop of chaos.
A dark moon, swirling, rose from the ground, engulfing the entire manor and surrounding land.
"Where are my cats?"
The cold words resounded in the ears of all present.
Overlooking the manor, sensing something, Lu Li instantly vanished, reappearing in the luxurious hall of the manor house.
Meow—meow—
The familiar cat cries gradually calmed Lu Li’s sharp black eyes as they swept over the cat group huddled by him.
One, two, three... thirty, thirty-one, thirty-two...
But one cat was missing.
Lu Li descended into the hall, warily eyed by the suspicious and uncertain Devil’s Daughter.
"Where’s the other cat?"
She could not comprehend how he discovered and arrived so swiftly, but it did not stop her from continuing her provocation: "You might still find the leftover fur."
Lu Li, with his black eyes gradually returning to their cold indifference, gazed steadily at the taunting Devil’s Daughter. Without warning, a massive guillotine crashed down from the void, pinning the shrieking Devil’s Daughter beneath it.
The Devil’s Daughter struggled, with gray mist-like power flowing around her, corroding the dreamwalker, but only corroding...
Upon realizing she couldn’t break free from the terrifying shackles, the Devil’s Daughter screamed like all losers: "I am the Devil’s Daughter! Future heiress of Abyss City! Kill me, and my father won’t spare you!"
And Lu Li’s response was the sharp blade on the guillotine being slowly hoisted by a hemp rope.
The Devil’s Daughter saw the shadow of death reflected on the rising blade.
"Master, the cat is here!"
The scream of fear suddenly rang out, as a Mid-Level Demon Servant appeared on the stairs holding a cat with fur damply clinging to its body.
"Do not speak!"
The Devil’s Daughter shrieked from beneath the guillotine.
The Servant Demon wailed in agony: "He isn’t afraid of the Devil Monarch, he really will kill my master!"
"Death is a demon’s glory!"
"...Sister, you are not yet a demon."
A dull, hoarse voice, like the friction of sand, sounded from outside the manor.
Sand gathered in the hall to form the silhouette of the Demon of the Earth, still topped with that young sprout.
"...Why did you do this, peculiar soul?" It looked at Lu Li.
"Your sister attacked me and stole my cats."
Knowing the Devil’s Son had entered the dreamscape, Lu Li picked up the white cat that had returned to his feet, which had been washed very clean.
"You are insulting the demon!" the Devil’s Daughter shrieked in retort: "That wasn’t stealing, it was plundering!"
Lu Li and the Demon of the Earth simultaneously ignored the Devil’s Daughter, who resembled more a demon.
"...I apologize on behalf of my sister," the hoarse voice of the Demon of the Earth conveyed a sense of sincerity.
Lu Li remained silent, placing down the white cat, and removed the ring: "If your sister can take items from the Void Warehouse, others of the Devil’s offspring can do so too, right?"
The Devil’s Son gave his ring to Lu Li: "...This is my ring; even Father cannot take items from within it."
Lu Li did not believe the Abyssal Demon couldn’t take items from the Void Warehouse he personally created, but he needed a place to house these delicate and adorable spirits; the Core Earth Demon’s ring was indeed safer than the ring.
Declining the Devil’s Son’s repeated invitation to visit Abyss City, Lu Li returned to the town the way he came.
