The bell rang, and the conversation topic of the day ended abruptly.
Jiang Nian laughed as he returned to the classroom, thinking to himself that hanging out with fools is always fun. The birthrate is declining, yet it's rising.
As soon as he sat down, Zhang Ningzhi curiously asked.
"What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing," Jiang Nian replied, "Li Hua and the others were talking about things not suitable for children, and I stopped them."
Li Hua happened to walk in, and hearing Huang Yao turned his sight dark.
"Chi Shi."
Zhang Ningzhi didn't take it seriously; she covered her mouth with her hand and yawned, looking somewhat sleepy.
"I'm so tired."
"Didn't sleep at noon?" Jiang Nian pulled out a chair and sat down, taking out a small packet of tea from Old Liu to brew.
"No, was doing exercises." Zhang Ningzhi pursed her lips, "I missed the timing, can't sleep any more now."
"Want some tea?" He handed it over, the thermos cup filled with boiling hot water, passing through the metal tea filter.
Zhang Ningzhi hesitated for a moment, glancing at him discreetly.
"Sure."
She reached into the desk drawer and slowly handed a small glass cup to Jiang Nian, looking elsewhere.
"Pour it, don't spill it."
Originally, Jiang Nian had steady hands, but hearing this, he shook like he had Parkinson's, immediately getting a punch from Zhang Ningzhi.
"Stop shaking!"
During the first afternoon class, Zhang Ningzhi set the tea aside. Feeling a bit drowsy, she sipped a little.
Jiang Nian wanted to laugh at her; drinking tea like this, what energy boost can it provide?
As expected, halfway through the class, Zhang Ningzhi's body started to sway, her eyelids fighting against sleep.
In the last row, back in the corner.
Jiang Nian acted without much concern, discreetly reaching down and pinching Zhang Ningzhi's thigh.
She woke up with a jolt, and glared at Jiang Nian.
"You!!"
Jiang Nian laughed, completely unbothered, scanning the classroom where most were in a zombie-like state.
Of course, perhaps it's because this class is literature.
Resting his head on his hand, he turned towards the annoyed Zhizhi, smirking as he teased her.
"Hey, are you going for bubble tea this afternoon?"
Upon hearing that, Zhang Ningzhi visibly turned red, from a puffed-up pufferfish to a blushing apple.
"Hmph, say that again!"
She raised her fist, and whispered threateningly.
"No drinks for you."
"Then I'll have bubble tea."
"You!!"
...
In class three, they discussed the test paper all afternoon, later starting a self-study session.
Jiang Nian stood up, and glanced around briefly. Seeing Zeng You not on his phone, but rather engrossed in a novel.
He paused for a moment, realizing it's Lu Yao's "Life."
Oh, tragedy.
"Where are you going?" Li Hua casually asked.
"The office."
Li Hua thought Jiang Nian might be heading to see Qingbao, or, annoyingly, to the math office to find a pretty teacher.
Used to it, tired, just let it end.
"You damn well deserve it!"
After offering his blessings, Li Hua continued immersing himself in the grand mission of memorizing vocabulary, determined to make one last effort in the final three months.
After all, life's all about either cheese snow leopard or knowledge explosion.
Jiang Nian went downstairs to find Old Liu first, speaking alone about the beggar blocking the road at the school gate.
"Did they stop you?"
"Yes, and I even gave them money."
"Alright, I got it." Old Liu pondered, "I'll it upwards, with the college entrance exams approaching..."
Subtly, he's already exercising the rights of a saint.
For other students, they were busy with their own tasks, not paying much attention to Jiang Nian.
"Okay, sorry to trouble you, teacher." Jiang Nian stood up and left, inadvertently glancing at the neighboring teacher's computer.
"About the single admission..."
He couldn't help but feel a bit dazed, as if the semester had started on fast-forward, with a series of events unfolding.
The college entrance exam atmosphere was growing more intense, and resting time was increasingly compressed.
"Ah."
"Why are you walking and dazing off?"
A familiar voice snapped him back to reality. Turning his head, he saw Ji Jiayu calling out to him.
"Huh? Was I?"
"Yes." Ji Jiayu smiled, reminding him, "You're being too careless; what if you fall and hurt your hand?"
"The grade group is counting on you to score high and make it to the provincial top fifty."
These words, just listen.
Jiang Nian didn't pay much heed, looked at her briefly, then changed the subject.
"Where are you headed?"
"Tutoring." Ji Jiayu candidly replied, smiling, "Spent ten thousand, planning to go for it."
"Oh, I see." Jiang Nian nodded.
He also planned to attend tutoring, but without spending a dime, all resources are provided by the school, preferentially given to the top students.
"Okay, then I'll be on my way." Ji Jiayu seemed much more mature compared to last semester.
Vaguely recalling the squabble in front of the dormitory.
Maybe, for her, it's a minor footnote in her youth, with a new chapter starting after college.
Jiang Nian's main afternoon task was to see Zhu Yin, familiarize himself with her office location.
He walked idly, pondering.
Someone like Ji Jiayu, in relationships, might be a bit crazy. But deep down, she's quite practical.
It's not scary to be crazy or bad, what's scary is being clueless.
Repeating Building D.
Upon reaching the second floor, on the left is another office for Old Liu, on the right is the school's library.
The third floor has Lan Lan's psychological counseling studio, along with a dance room and guitar club activity room.
The most popular student in senior year is a guy from the school guitar club, plus a dance art student who occasionally hosts.
Interestingly, Jiang Nian studied here for three years yet knew nothing about this, or perhaps ignored it.
After all, useless things don't require thought.
High school is like that, with small circles. Activity range limited, only a few excel in all-rounded aspects.
