Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future-Chapter 201 - 201: Powering Up Goku

Chapter 201

"As for candidates," Whis said with an easy smile, "I think everyone who has sparred with Lord Beerus before would make fine choices."
Beerus's ears perked up.
"In that case, we'll just pick all of them!"
"It's a pity, though. That time-travelling kid has already left," Beerus added with some regret. "That still leaves us short two slots."
"Not quite, actually. There was one more who fought you back then."
Whis's gaze landed on a certain blue-haired girl with a cute, dazed look on her face.
"Puar?"
"At the time, she had transformed into a sword."
"Her?"
"Can she really do it?"
The Earth fighters all had their doubts.
Even Puar herself was nervous, unsure whether she was truly up to it.
Only Levos knew the truth: compared to when she faced Beerus the first time, Puar's strength had skyrocketed.
She was now using the fused body of New Broly and Kefla, and Levos had already helped her stack the Saiyan passive to the absolute limit.
Kaefroli's physical body alone had reached an absurd level.
On top of that, there were the special transformations granted by her bloodline. Right now, Puar was the most terrifying existence on Earth in terms of raw body stats. Just her base physique was enough to crush everyone present.
The only pity was that she had never received proper martial arts training. She had only just learned basic ki control, which massively limited how much of that power she could actually use.
Fortunately, Puar possessed a shapeshifting ability. Even without refined combat technique, she could still be used as a living tool.
Right now, that was her biggest advantage.
"Puar," Levos asked, "are you willing to fight in the tournament?"
Puar nodded hard, determination written all over her small face.
"I'll do my very best, Levos-sama!"
Levos ruffled her soft hair.
"There's no need to go all out. What you need most is to adapt to this body as quickly as possible. This battle will be a great chance to get used to your strength."
"Mm!"
No matter how great someone's talent or potential, you still had to patch the gaps with hard work later.
Levos himself was no different.
Beerus nodded lightly.
"The ability to transform into a weapon is certainly unique. And she withstood my attack back then, which was impressive. I've got no objections to this pick."
Goku looked over at Levos, eyes full of expectation.
"Levos, the last spot…"
Levos was just about to agree
"Hold it." Beerus cut in, eyeing Goku sidelong. "Every slot will be decided by me."
Whis looked mildly surprised.
"Oh? And who does Lord Beerus intend to select as the final fighter?"
Beerus glared at Goku.
"Whoever it is, it won't be this idiot who never thinks about the consequences of his actions."
Goku's brows knitted together in frustration.
"Lord Beerus, please, let me join! I promise I'll give it my all in the fight!"
"Hmph! Not a chance!" Beerus shut him down instantly. Then he turned away. "Whis, let's go. We're going to pick that guy up."
As soon as he finished, the god and angel were wrapped in a band of rainbow light and vanished from Earth.
Everyone left behind looked at one another, curiosity burning in their eyes.
Just who was Beerus planning to bring?
Goku's face was full of unwillingness.
Seeing that, Gohan hurried to comfort him.
"Dad, don't be too upset. Even if Lord Beerus didn't stop you, that last slot might still have gone to someone stronger than you are right now."
Levos froze for a moment, then suddenly remembered.
He'd nearly forgotten about the Masked Saiyan Super Squad.
Ginyu and the others had also gotten huge boosts in strength.
Especially Ginyu after taking over the fused body of Jiren and Hit, Levos was very interested in what kind of combat performance he would show.
Goku, on the other hand, was still stuck at Super Saiyan 3.
Levos frowned slightly.
Maybe it's time to power Goku and the other Saiyans up a bit.
One way or another, he still wanted Goku to fight in this exhibition match.
If that was going to happen, he'd first need to make Goku strong enough that Beerus couldn't ignore him.
Unfortunately, Future Trunks had been taken away by Chronoa, leaving them one Saiyan short for a Super Saiyan God ritual.
All Levos could really do now was help them grind their Saiyan passive again.
After practicing on so many Dark Ones, he was already a veteran at this sort of "passive stacking," with a mountain of experience.
Of course, something like this still needed the consent of the people involved.
Levos laid out his plan in full.
"Levos, you mean, you're going to use the Saiyans' special trait to boost our strength?" Goku's eyes lit up.
"That's right," Levos said. "And if you're afraid of the pain, Ginyu can swap bodies with you first. He'll develop the bodies to their limits, then switch back afterward."
If Goku and the others wanted to dodge the pain, Levos could only work Ginyu even harder and make him use his body-swap ability a few more times.
Listening on the side, Ginyu looked like he was going to cry.
Why did I ever provoke Levos? This has to be revenge…
And when he'd been eavesdropping on casual conversation earlier, Mrs. Brief had even muttered something like "it's all Ginyu's fault."
That made him even more afraid of Levos.
What kind of person holds a grudge this hard?!
Levos happened to notice how badly Ginyu was shaking and asked curiously,
"Vice-Captain Ginyu, what's wrong with you? Why is your body trembling like that?"
"N-nothing at all, Lord Levos. I was just… thinking back fondly to my days as a frog."
"If you miss it that much, you can always swap bodies with a frog whenever you want," Levos said helpfully. "Just don't forget to wear a translation device, and you can change back once you're done reminiscing."
Did he stay a frog so long he developed some kind of condition?
Levos was a little suspicious.
But there was no time to worry about an underling's health and mental state.
For this All-Universe Exhibition Match, he couldn't afford to let his guard down.
Goku, Gohan, and Trunks huddled together and discussed it seriously for a moment, then gave their unified answer.
"Levos, we agree to use that 'passive grind' method you mentioned and we don't need Ginyu's help."
"In that case, let's start right away."
Levos called Buu and Kibito over, and the group instant-transmitted to a desolate wilderness.
The moment they arrived, Levos shifted into his mechanical form and drove a ki blade straight through Goku's stomach.
"You'll have to bear with it. This'll be over soon."
With that, he efficiently beat Goku, Gohan, and Trunks all into a heavily wounded, near-death state.
Then, with Buu and Kibito assisting with healing and support, they repeated this process over and over.
It didn't take long before he'd completely maxed out all three of their Saiyan passives.
"At this point," Levos estimated silently, "Goku and Gohan's base power should meet the standard for transforming into Super Saiyan 4."
"And besides…"
"Last time, when Gohan and Trunks fused into Gohanks, he almost awakened his Beast form because Piccolo was badly injured."
"If Gohan goes through a similar stimulus again, he might really awaken it this time."
"Next up, we'll go find Elder Kai and have him pull Goku and Gohan's tails back out. If we're lucky, Goku will achieve Super Saiyan 4 before the exhibition match starts and that might be enough to earn Beerus's approval…"
