Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future-Chapter 204 - 204: Recreating a Classic Scene?

Levos replayed in his mind the scene of Gohan's first Super Saiyan 2 transformation.
Then he compared it with the moment Gohan broke into Beast Form.
Those two situations weren't exactly identical, but… they weren't far off either.
They even had one key element in common: Cell.
With all the key players present again, it didn't seem impossible to reproduce those legendary scenes.
It all felt like fate had lined everything up in advance.
Of course, at best he was just the man behind the curtain.
When it came to actually executing the plan, he'd have to rely on Piccolo's performance.
Levos laid out his plan to "stimulate" Gohan.
"You want me to get beaten up, fake being pitiful, and play the tragic victim?!" Piccolo's face darkened.
"Don't worry about getting hurt. We've got a professional medical lineup: Kibito, Buu, and Dende, plus Kikono's healing pod. We're not actually going to let you die," Levos assured.
"That's not what I'm worried about…" Piccolo's mouth twitched.
"It's all for Gohan."
In the end, Piccolo nodded.
"Fine. I'll try it your way."
"Puar, go get some rest."
"Okay, Master Levos!"
As Puar's chain form loosened, the two massive golden apes regained their freedom of movement.
"Raaaah !!"
Gohan roared, his scarlet eyes locking onto Piccolo's suddenly enlarged body.
The corners of Piccolo's mouth lifted slightly.
"Gohan, let me see just how far your power's grown!"
In the next instant, two colossal figures collided with a deafening boom.
Rumble !
The dimensional fabric shattered and swallowed the two of them inside.
Back on the devastated wasteland, Levos's gaze stayed on Goku.
Who was supposed to handle his berserk rampage?
Chi-Chi? Krillin? Someone else?
"Goku, wake up already!"
Levos shifted into his mechanical form and flashed forward, launching a kick that sent the Great Ape Goku flying into the sky.
Rumble !!
The clouds were blown apart, revealing the clear blue dome above.
He hadn't expected that single kick to make Goku's ki flare even more violently.
The giant ape howled and screeched in midair.
The next second, several massive beams of energy erupted from the Golden Great Ape's maw.
The sheer force of it made even the others on the ground feel a stab of fear.
"This is bad! The Earth's gonna blow!" Yamcha gulped, horrified.
Levos flickered through the air, batting each stray energy beam away one by one.
Then he followed up with an uppercut, sending the golden ape crashing even higher into the sky.
"Waaaargh !!"
The massive golden ape roared nonstop, furious flames burning in his blood-red eyes as he stared straight down at Levos.
"Levos, you sure you've got this? I feel like Goku's even more violent than before," Krillin asked, still shaken.
Levos spread his hands helplessly.
"All I can do is stop him from destroying the Earth. I don't have a way to wake him up."
"So it really all depends on Goku coming to his senses on his own?"
"Krillin, why don't you try talking to him?" Chiaotzu suggested.
"Why me? This is way outside my pay grade, I'm not going," Krillin refused on the spot.
"At this rate, it's not going to work out! If Goku can't regain his self-control, he'll lose his chance to compete!"
When no one could think of a better idea, Levos could only try the most direct approach.
Bang, bang, bang!
Punch after punch, he tried to hammer Goku awake through sheer force and pain.
But the ape's rage didn't fade in the slightest.
There wasn't even a hint of the Super Saiyan 4 transformation anywhere on Goku's body.
Just as Levos was about ready to give up, a lazy, mocking voice drifted over from afar.
"Well, well… even from a distance, I could sense a few particularly disgusting ki signatures on this planet."
"Frieza!"
The Earth warriors all stiffened. Why had he suddenly shown up?
They got their answer soon enough.
Beerus and Whis descended onto Earth.
Beerus's lazy voice floated in,
"Looks like I don't need to introduce him."
"Lord Frieza was personally invited by Lord Beerus to be one of the contestants," Whis added with a cheerful smile.
"That's right. You all get along now. Whis and I are going to enjoy some food," Beerus said casually.
With that, Beerus and Whis turned into streaks of light and vanished.
Frieza flicked his tail, a faint curl lifting his purple lips. He seemed to be in an excellent mood.
"So, may I ask what exactly you're all doing?"
Levos was still tearing his hair out over Goku.
Then a thought flashed through his mind. In the next instant, he appeared at Frieza's side.
"Lord Frieza, I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon!"
"Indeed, Levos… sir," Frieza replied.
"You've come at the perfect time. Help me out with something first."
Without giving him room to refuse, Levos grabbed Frieza by the wrist.
Whoosh!
The two of them instant-transmitted to Goku's location.
"Long story short, here's the situation…"
Levos summarized everything at high speed, talking as he moved, knocking the Golden Great Ape higher every time he tried to fall.
By the time he finished, Frieza's eye was twitching violently.
"So you're saying… you want me to cooperate with your little play and act to provoke Son Goku, just to help him regain his sanity?"
"That's right. Exactly that!"
"What a joke! I am the great Emperor of the Universe. Why would I help a filthy Saiyan monkey grow stronger?!"
Levos's tone stayed calm.
"To be blunt, it won't be long before I have a set of Dragon Balls in my possession. And this set will be even more powerful than the Namekian ones…"
"Oh? Trying to buy me with a wish from the Dragon Balls?" Frieza's gaze turned amused for a moment, then he let out a cold chuckle. "Allow me to decline."
Levos quickly clarified,
"No, no, Lord Frieza, you've misunderstood. What I mean is… you wouldn't want to end up five centimeters shorter… would you?"
Frieza's eyes bulged.
Levos blinked innocently, his face the picture of sincerity.
Frieza went very, very quiet.
When he finally spoke, his voice was flat.
"…Tell me the details of this script."

"Levos, how did you actually convince Frieza to help?" someone asked later.
"Yeah, I'm dying to know," Krillin added, baffled.
"Secret," Levos said with a mysterious grin. "Krillin, you'd better start getting mentally prepared."
Krillin hesitated.
"We agreed you'd put me in a life-or-death situation, but I'm still scared of pain…"
"You're the only one who can push Goku past his limit."
If he had to rank all the iconic scenes in Dragon Ball, the number one in Levos's heart would definitely be Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation.
Back then, Lord Frieza had gotten the "kill order" wrong, using his psychic powers to blow Krillin to pieces right in front of Goku.
And that gave birth to the most legendary scene in all of anime.
Now, every single participant in that moment… was gathered here on the same battlefield.
Krillin's role in it was absolutely critical.
There's an old saying, after all:
"When Krillin is sacrificed, miracles happen."
Frieza, to his credit, was being very cooperative right now. He was up in the sky, doing everything he could to tangle with the Golden Great Ape.
After their passives were fully maxed out, Goku's power as a Golden Great Ape had undergone a qualitative leap from his original first appearance. Even Frieza was finding it hard to deal with.
A berserk Saiyan monkey knew no friend or foe his attacks were purely indiscriminate.
