Chapter 1: A Person Who Shouldn’t Be Alive
“Carlo, where are you?”
A shout from the high place of the luxurious palace interrupted Carlo’s thoughts, pulling his soul back to this real world.
“I’m here, Father.” Carlo hurriedly responded.
“Thank God, my child, are you feeling better?” Just a few minutes later, the voice came from far to near, and its owner had already arrived behind Carlo.
Carlo turned slightly, still a bit incredulous.
The middle-aged man in front of him, who looked gorgeously dressed, was actually the biological father of this body, the current ruler of the House of Savoy, the first king of the Unification of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II.
“I’m much better; the medicine the doctor gave me is very effective.” Carlo nodded honestly, but in his heart, he was pondering how to talk to this unfamiliar father.
Vittorio Emanuele II didn’t pay attention to Carlo’s complex thoughts, but affectionately touched Carlo’s head and said earnestly: “It’s okay, child. Although Edoardo is gone, you still have us, don’t you?”
Edoardo was Vittorio Emanuele II’s third son, who had just been born and obtained the title of Duke of Montferrat.
In Carlo’s memory, this brother was very good to Carlo, and their relationship far exceeded that with the two older brothers.
But unfortunately, when Carlo’s soul came to this world, Duke of Montferrat Edoardo was already critically ill and soon passed away.
Due to the extremely poor medical standards of this era, the cause of Edoardo’s death was not even found out.
Even a prince died so unclearly, which also made Carlo have some fear of this real world.
For an ordinary person who had experienced advanced technology and society, personally experiencing the technology and life 160 years ago was really a torment.
Even though Carlo was Vittorio Emanuele II’s most favored son, the prince of the newly established Kingdom of Italy, it could not offset this bad feeling.
Seeing Carlo still silent, Vittorio Emanuele II touched Carlo’s head again, squeezed out a smile, and said: “It will be okay, everything will get better, child.
I won’t allow anything to take you away from my side, not even God. Adelaide and I will protect you; you will be fine, I guarantee it to you.”
For Vittorio Emanuele II, who was famous for his piety to God, such a promise was obviously sincere and from the heart.
Carlo naturally also knew Vittorio Emanuele II’s reputation; for this cheap father who cared about him very much, Carlo had no sense of rejection.
“I’m much better, Father. Thank you for your concern; I’m fine now.” Carlo said.
“That’s good, child. May God bless you, and I will accompany you.” Vittorio Emanuele II affectionately touched Carlo’s head again, then signaled the maidservants beside him to help Carlo back to the room.
In history, although Vittorio Emanuele II had six sons( only counting those born to Queen Adelaide), truly not dying young there were only two, which could be said to be many children but few blessings.
Among them, except for Prince Oddone who died young close to 20 years old, the other three children who died early all passed away unexpectedly in infancy.
Although in this world, due to Carlo’s arrival, Vittorio Emanuele II lost one less son, but the continuous loss of sons in middle age also made Vittorio Emanuele II especially cherish family affection.
And Carlo, this now youngest son, received the most favor from Vittorio Emanuele II; upon birth, he was the noble Duke of Chaulnes, with properties under his name including large amounts of farmland, several castles and manors, and over a hundred servants waiting to serve Carlo at any time.
While Vittorio Emanuele II didn’t know what he was thinking, Carlo had already been helped into the room by two maidservants.
Looking at the pure and beautiful one on the left and the seductive one on the right, Carlo still swallowed the words he was about to say.
Although the West prevails with monogamy, for nobles of noble status, mistress was not an unfamiliar term.
Especially for the top layer of nobles, as long as Carlo was willing, girls wanting to become Carlo’s mistress could line up from the Italian capital Florence to the northern city of Turin.
At least in this point, Carlo was willing to admit that the world 160 years ago still had some fun.
Of course, mistresses were just an unspoken enjoyment among nobles and generally wouldn’t be made public.
For top nobles, maidservants were of course a safer choice than mistresses, and more trustworthy in terms of loyalty.
Especially for nobles in their teenage stage, maidservants were more suitable for enlightenment education, and also the first choice for most European noble education of heirs.
The two maidservants serving Carlo were the tutors selected by Vittorio Emanuele II for Carlo, combining purity and seductiveness, and both very beautiful.
At first, Carlo enjoyed the massage from the two, but the pleasure in the lower part instantly brought Carlo back to his senses. Turning his head, the outwardly pure and cute Anna had already reached her hand into Carlo’s trousers and was quietly teasing.
“That’s enough, Anna.” Carlo patted Anna’s head, looking at Anna lifting her head with blinking little eyes, finally smiling: “Not there yet.”
“Okay.” Anna nodded slightly disappointed upon hearing this, and her hand also left that place.
“I want to be alone for a while.” After enjoying the proficient massage from the two maidservants, Carlo finally relaxed a bit and instructed the two women.
Soon, the two maidservants left the room, leaving Carlo alone lying in the room lost in thought.
Carlo could barely accept transmigrating to this era. At least being a noble still had many ways to enjoy, much better than the hard life in posterity.
But the problem is, although monarchy is still mainstream in the world currently, it can only persist for a few decades.
After World War I and World War II erupt one after another, it will deal a heavy blow to monarchies worldwide, making monarchy countries almost disappear from people’s sight.
In posterity, except for the United Kingdom, this monarchy country where monarchical power is almost nominal, people’s understanding of monarchy countries is minimal, even unable to name a few still existing monarchy countries.
The Kingdom of Italy where Carlo is located will achieve republic after World War II, but in the stage when Mussolini grasps power, the power and status of the Italian Royal Family is already in jeopardy, and abolishing it is just a word from Mussolini.
Although he didn’t know how he transmigrated, since a new life has begun with such a high starting point, Carlo naturally has greater ambition.
In order to grasp his future destiny in his own hands, Carlo has new plans.
