Even If I’m Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem-Book 6: Chapter 104: Caught Off Guard (part 4)
Book 6: Chapter 104: Caught Off Guard (part 4)
*Pant… pant…*
Lilith leaned against a wall, utterly exhausted, gasping as though her lungs were about to burst.
To escape the enraged Lesiah and Ciel, she’d been running nonstop for what felt like an eternity. Now her legs felt like they were floating on clouds—so weak and numb she could barely feel them.
“But… thankfully… I lost them.”
That was perhaps the only silver lining.
Lesiah was swinging her wood cleaver like a maniac, fighting 1,652 Ciel Hesses. The chaos gave Lilith just enough time to free herself from the ropes and make a break for it.
But she couldn’t relax yet. Lesiah and Ciel could catch up at any moment, and with her flimsy arms, short legs, and combat ability hovering near zero, it would be instant defeat if they did.
“Come to think of it… where am I?”
Only now did Lilith take a moment to look around. Her frantic dash through the darkness had left her with no sense of direction.
Before her stretched a quiet street lined with rows of streetlights. The pavement was clean and orderly, and unlike the dim, hanging lamps from before, these streetlights glowed bright and steady. A few moths fluttered lazily around the bulbs, dancing in the light.
Benches lined the sidewalk.
“Finally, a place to rest.”
The moment Lilith spotted them, her eyes lit up. She plopped herself down on one of the benches at once.
They seemed made for her, with just the right length and width. Lying on one felt no different than lying on a bed.
“Mmm, so comfy~”
After all that chaos, nothing felt better than lying down.
Lilith propped her head on one arm, ready to drift into a blissful nap. But…
“Lilith?”
A soft, familiar voice echoed down the empty street.
Lilith shot upright, tumbling off the bench in panic.
“I never agreed to elope with you! The child isn’t mine! Please, just let me go—waaah!”
“Elope? Child? What on are you talking about?”
“Huh?”
Lilith looked up, blinking in confusion, only to realize the voice didn’t belong to Lesiah or Ciel. Instead, it was…
“Luna?”
“Yep, it’s me.”
Under the streetlight stood Luna, bundled in a down jacket and scarf, holding something in her hand. She gave Lilith a puzzled once-over.
“Why are you sleeping out here, Lilith? Aren’t you afraid of catching a cold?”
“Catching a cold or not doesn’t matter anymore.”
Lilith sifted through the flood of memories that had suddenly appeared in her head, looking like she was about to flee at any moment.
“You… don’t happen to have some inescapable karmic debt with me, do you? Or some grudge you want me to repay?” she asked warily after a moment.
“Karmic debt? Grudge? What are you even talking about?” Luna tilted her head, clearly confused, then held up the object in her hand. “I’m just walking my dog.” ℞ÂNỐᛒËŚ
“Walking your dog?” Lilith finally realized that she was holding an ordinary leash. And at the other end stood a… massive husky?
It was the size of a small calf, with standard black and white fur, a wicked look, a crooked grin and a long tongue.
“Woof!”
The moment it noticed Lilith, the husky lunged like a bolt of lightning, knocking her flat and smothering her in enthusiastic licks.
“Mmph…! That tickles! Stop—hahaha! Luna! Quick, pull this damn dog off me!”
“I… I’m trying!”
Luna pulled on the leash with all her strength.
“Htilil! Bad doggie! Let go!”
She leaned back with her whole body, but the husky was absurdly strong—dragging her forward instead of budging an inch.
Fortunately, Lilith, petite and nimble as ever, managed to wriggle free from beneath the furry beast.
“See? If you don’t have the strength, you shouldn’t keep such a big dog. Someone’s bound to get hurt.” Lilith dabbed her face dry with a handkerchief, scolding with mock severity.
“Sorry,” Luna apologized with an awkward smile, lightly slapping the husky on the head.
“Htilil! Bad doggie! Not good!”
“Woof!”
“Don’t you try to wriggle out of this! Even if you like her, you shouldn’t have done that! Now sit nicely!”
“Woof!”
“If you don’t behave, no supper for you tonight.”
“Woof-woof.”
The husky’s ears drooped as it sat down obediently.
Lilith stared in disbelief. “This dog… actually understands you?”
“Of course.” Luna patted the husky’s head proudly. “Htilil’s very well-behaved.”
“Wait—you said this dog’s name is Htilil?” Lilith rubbed her chin, frowning. “That’s… kind of an unusual name for a dog.”
“N-No way! Isn’t Htilil a totally normal name? My neighbor’s dim-witted son is called that too.”
“Really?”
“Of course, of course.”
Luna nodded vigorously, as if silently asking her: *How could someone as kind as me ever lie to you?*
“Alright, fine. It’s just a name. Nothing worth overthinking.” Lilith quickly brushed off the odd feeling.
She was about to ask if there was a place nearby to hide from her pursuers when she noticed something strange about Luna.
Her fingers were clenched around the hem of her jacket, and her eyes were darting around. She looked like she wanted to say something but couldn’t bring herself to.
“Just say what’s on your mind.”
“Really?” Luna’s eyes widened. “I can really say it?”
*Huh? Again? Don’t tell me you’ve got some shocking bombshell to drop too. Hmph. After the last two, I, Lilith, have built nerves of steel. No matter how outrageous it is, I won’t even flinch! I’ll just have to prepare myself to flee at any moment.*
Lilith subtly glanced around, noting how wide and open the area was. Perfect for a quick escape. Feeling relieved, she casually waved her hand.
“Go ahead, I’m listening.”
“Wonderful!” Luna’s face lit up with excitement, then she abruptly shoved something into Lilith’s hand.
Lilith blinked in confusion. It was a leash. “Wait… you want to tie me up too?”
“No, no, no! Why would I tie you up?” Luna frowned, looking genuinely baffled. “Why would I ever do that?”
“Good,” Lilith exhaled in relief. “So, what did you actually want to say?”
“Well…”
Luna fidgeted, then pointed at the leash in Lilith’s hand and whispered, “Lilith, do you want to walk dogs too?”
“Walk… dogs?” Lilith was stunned. Of all the possible things Luna could’ve said, this wasn’t even on the list.
“That’s it?”
“Mm-hmm.” Luna nodded enthusiastically. “Walking dogs is fun.”
*Just walking a dog?*
Lilith stared down at the leash in her hand.
Well… even though she was still being hunted, walking a dog with Luna didn’t sound so bad. Besides, it was just a husky. How hard could it be?
“Fine then.” Lilith nodded, casually swinging the leash in her hand.
*Huh?*
Something felt wrong. The leash didn’t seem to be attached to the big dog at all.
*Wait a second…*
Lilith’s smile froze as she followed the leash upward, her gaze traveling slowly to its other end until she saw…
“Marvelous!” Luna’s face lit up with joy. She tossed her scarf aside, revealing a red collar around her neck, and exclaimed eagerly, “Let’s get started!”
