I groaned and twisted in bed as the mattress shook beneath me. Blinking my eyes open, I saw my sister, Elara, shaking my bed to wake me up.
"C'mon, Noah, get up and change. We can't have you being late again," she whispered, still shaking the bed.
"A few more seconds... please," I groaned, pulling the blanket over my face. But that was short-lived, Elara yanked it off, leaving me cold and shivering.
Back in my old world, she would've been lenient, letting me sleep in and show up late. But in this new world I found myself in a few years ago, she's the complete opposite.
She was loving and affectionate—unlike her counterpart in the other world, who was cruel and cold. Colder than anything I could ever imagine.
'Now that I think about it, I much prefer this version of my sister,' I thought, pushing myself up from the bed, only to realize my chest was completely bare in front of her.
"Jesus Christ, Noah!" she yelled, covering her eyes, clearly startled by the unexpected peep show. "You're lucky it was your sister and not some random girl who saw that," she scolded, her tone sharp and disapproving.
Elara quickly stepped out of my room, her face flushed as she avoided my gaze. "J-just hurry up and get changed!" she stammered before hurrying away down the hall.
Gosh, how much I loved teasing her. Even if this one was unplanned, I still loved that she saw me so vulnerable so unexpectedly. Eventually, it was going to break her — make her snap, and force her to make me hers.
The thought of being hers made me shiver with both pleasure and unease. Would I even be able to push her off me if she tried claiming me? Nah… I’d probably just give in and let her ravage me.
I let out a quick yawn before getting ready for the day, pulling my favorite black pants up to my waist. They were perfect—no one ever catcalled me in these, unlike when I wore shorts.
I'm still not used to that part of this world. I always end up giving them the wrong idea when I blush in front of them—they think I'm interested, when in reality, I'm just uncomfortable and have no idea what to say.
I sighed, slipping into a tank top to keep a bit of modesty. Then I grabbed the first shirt I could find and pulled it on, tugging it into place until it felt right.
"Hopefully no harassment today..." I muttered, shuffling into the bathroom. From the kitchen came the sound of clattering pans and something sizzling a little too loudly. I sighed. Yep, she's definitely burning something again.
I washed my face as quickly as I could before moving on to brushing my hair—just enough to look presentable for the day. I hated doing it, mostly because it only drew more attention from girls, but if I didn't, I'd look like I just crawled out of an alley.
After finishing my routine, I rushed out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. To my surprise, there were no fires—just a new kind of catastrophe: a pan full of brown sludge my sister proudly called "eggs."
"How is that even possible..." I muttered, glancing at the complete mess on the stove.
"I-I'm sorry, Noah... I just wanted to be a good sister," she said softly, staring at her feet.
"It's okay, Elara. Don't worry—I'll just grab something at the school cafeteria."
She looked back up at me, her tall frame stiffening for some reason.
"I'll try to wake up earlier to take care of breakfast more often. You deserve a break more than I do," I said.
Her hands suddenly reached up to cup my face.
"I can't believe you're so grown now," she murmured. "Sometimes I wish you were still twelve. If you were, then nobody would be able to take you away from me."
A shiver ran up my spine at her words. Take me away from her? What did she mean by that?
I glanced at my watch—only twenty minutes until school started. Panicking, I wrenched myself out of Elara's grasp and scrambled for my wallet, muttering to myself about paying the bus fare on time.
"See you later, sis! Love you!" I called as I headed for the door—but not before she pulled me back inside and hugged me tightly.
"Be careful, Noah. Call me if you need anything. I love you so much."
I nodded, slipping out of her grasp once again, and started walking down the sidewalk toward the nearest bus stop.
On the way there, I caught a few comments from women around me. Nothing too aggressive, but each one made me flinch a little, keeping me on high alert as I walked. Every sideways glance felt like a test, and I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling creeping up my spine.
Though one particular comment stuck with me the entire walk.
"How's a boy like that not claimed? Walking alone like that is insanely dangerous..."
The words echoed in my head, making my steps feel heavier. Every glance from passersby suddenly felt loaded, like everyone was judging whether I was vulnerable or not.
At last, I finally made it to the bus stop—unharmed, but on edge. That alone felt like a win. I knew other boys who had gone missing just from taking a short walk to the store. Now that I think about it, maybe I should find a friend to walk with me... but then again, I don't know if she'd expect something in return... something like sex.
There was no point in sitting down—just as I arrived, the bus pulled up right on time.
I paid my fare and slid into an empty seat, making sure no one was too close. Just as we were about to pull away, a woman rushed on board, paying her fare as well. She caught me looking at her—and immediately assumed the wrong thing. I crossed my fingers, silently hoping she wouldn't sit next to me. No luck.
"Hey, sweetie, mind if I take a seat with you?"
I cursed in my mind. Why me?
"Uh... yeah, sure," I muttered, standing up just enough so she could sit by the window, making sure she wouldn't trap me in.
At last, we pulled away from the stop. Great... this was going to be a long ride.
