Genius’s Godlike Game Broadcast-Chapter 11 : Streamer Purple's Debut (4)

Chapter 11

Streamer Purple's Debut (4)
Choi Byeonghun's head was buzzing.
'That bastard Lee Gyeongbok, seriously...'
He watched Lee Gyeongbok's ongoing broadcast and thought,
'He said we'd take it slow, so what's he doing, cranking out only legendary moments like this!'
His raised cheeks simply refused to come down. While monitoring the stream, he was observing each shot from an editor's perspective.
But honestly, there was no need.
"Wow... if this keeps up, I'm gonna lose my job."
Anyone could see that these were videos that didn't even need to be edited—they were being produced over and over again.
Gyeongbok's martial arts movie-like performance almost seemed minor. The main highlight was Sandra's transformation.
'Anyone who's played Bark can't skip this one.'
A side of the character Sandra—always seen as a harsh and tough beauty, nicknamed "tsundere with cursing"—never before revealed. It was one-of-a-kind content found nowhere else.
"Damn, but how the hell did he get so lucky with the gacha pulls..."
Then there was the genuine gacha pull video.
As a former Bio Crisis player before he was an editor, Choi Byeonghun couldn't help but let out a hollow laugh.
'It must be that, right?'
The only thing that came to mind was Lee Gyeongbok's "that".
But it didn't make him dislike his friend or anything.
The problem was something else.
Lee Gyeongbok's outstanding performance made him feel like his editorial territory was shrinking.
'But even so, there's still work for me to do.'
Yet Choi Byeonghun didn't get discouraged. For his friend, his role went beyond just serving as an editor.
'I need to get this on Q-tube right away.'
The first thing that came to mind while watching was that a Q-tube channel had to be launched as soon as possible.
Currently, bio Crisis's hidden route was being revealed to the world for the first time by Lee Gyeongbok—by Purple.
But the problem was, the unlock requirement for that hidden route had already been figured out.
'Try is focused on real-time streaming, so obviously Gyeongbok's the first there, but it's different for Q-tube.'
Taking the hidden route isn't easy, but the world's a big place—someone out there might manage it.
And if someone uploads it to Q-tube before him?
'The streaming market might be big, but everyone still watches Q-tube more.'
Interactivity in real-time is the appeal of streaming, but many people are simply too busy to enjoy that.
They preferred highlights edited for maximum fun, and if not even that, they'd just look at shared screenshots or memes in the community.
There was a reason streamers always made sure to have a Q-tube channel.
'I can't just let this sit.'
Choi Byeonghun's fingers moved busily, his eyes even faster.
Monitoring was the basics; he also needed to prepare editing, and set up the Q-tube channel itself.
'Good thing I prepped sample images when settling on a name.'
Thankfully, while deciding on candidates, he sketched up some ideas for the channel's background and icon as well.
'But of course, it won't end here.'
Choi Byeonghun could sense it as he watched Lee Gyeongbok's stream.
The real highlight wasn't over, not by a long shot. The most buzzworthy video was yet to come.
'A route that's never been revealed until now.'
Because the truly hidden route was about to begin.
* * *
As Lee Gyeongbok spoke to Sandra, a cutscene immediately began.
The two were about to leave the hotel, seeing off the survivors.
"John!"
Just then, the child who'd given them the coin squeezed through the crowd and approached.
– The kid's cute, lol
– Sooo adorable
– Actually a real energy boost~
Gyeongbok imagined all the faces that would be smiling like proud dads beyond the chat window.
Meanwhile, the child held out a small doll and spoke.
"Here, please take this."
"This is...?"
"It's John."
The child spoke confidently.
– The kid's giving something other than a coin?
– What is it? A hidden item?
– But why is it John?
– Ah lol is this one of those things (I have no idea)
– Looks so shoddy lol is the kid trolling?
Shocked, both the viewers, Gyeongbok, and even John were puzzled.
"My mom made this doll. She said if I have it with John, the monsters won't be able to get us. It's hide and seek, so we have to hide well..."
But as the child continued, the chat turned solemn.
– Is this a tragic backstory dump here?
– Oh... oh no...
– The guy who called it shoddy, are you even human?
– I'll atone for my sins!
John listened, gave a rueful smile, and handed the doll back.
"Thank you, but I'll be fine. Because I am John."
"Ah..."
"Don't worry. I'll come back safe."
With that, John stood up. The scene faded to black, and the background changed.
"It's this way."
The stairwell, drenched in blood and littered with corpses. Sandra and John, gripping their flashlights and pistols, cautiously descended.
Lights flickered intermittently, grotesque exposed wiring sparked here and there, and even the shattered neon signs glowed faintly.
The subway was eerie and foreboding, and both of their expressions grew somber.
– Whoa... the atmosphere is killer.
– You can't even access the subway in free play.
– So there was actually a whole stage programmed here, huh.
It was a first-time sight for the viewers too. Meanwhile, John and Sandra headed further down, toward the subway platform.
"This way."
Sandra, flashlight in hand, checked the way then climbed down onto the track. John landed ahead of her.
"I'll go first."
"... All right."
Sandra smiled gently at John's words.
– Waiting for Sandra to say "Don't be reckless"?
– Ah, don't you know? This is called "Honey-dra."
– Lol from now on I'm gonna lead from the front too.
– Vigilante caught cutting in line.
While the chat made cheeky comments, Lee Gyeongbok could feel control returning to him.
Unlike the platform, there was no lighting on the tracks. The darkness itself seemed to have weight, pressing down.
The flashlight beam was only a tiny thorn piercing that dense night.
"This is where it begins."
Gyeongbok quietly whispered as he took a bold step forward.
– Tang, not even scared huh.
– Is it safe to just go like that?
– Feels like a jump scare's coming for sure...
– Am I the only coward here? lol (prepping my adult diaper)
Despite the worry in chat, Gyeongbok remained calm. That was because his sixth sense wasn't warning him at all.
"I've always had a strong stomach."
He even joked lightly back to the chat.
– It's the liver! It's the liver! Cowardice is all about the liver~
– Ugh, so unfair... I was born with a small liver!
– Lol if that was me, I'd be a human statue by now
He proceeded only for a moment.
Then, Gyeongbok slowly began to slow down. A subtle sense of dread tickled from ahead.
"Something's there."
– What do you see?
– No clue
– Am I getting old already...
– Does Purple have super night vision?
– "Night vision," lmao
And soon, the viewers saw what it was. In the faint flashlight beam, a swelled up head came into view.
"Pophead...!"
Sandra murmured low.
Unlike ordinary zombies, these had swollen heads and were blocking the rail.
– Wow lol
– Difficulty just shot up
– Pophead this early?
– The devs really overdid it this time.
Gyeongbok glanced at the chat reaction and tilted his head.
"Are these guys that dangerous?"
He had asked the chat, but the explanation came from Sandra.
"Careful. If you pop their heads, they explode and release toxic gas."
– ???: Am I your teacher or what, you dummy!
– Actually, that's Honey-dra talking here, teacher.
– Info: That gas calls more zombies.
– Theory: Going for the legs is best, says science over lunch.
– Info+1
Gyeongbok nodded.
"Guess I'll need to clear the path first."
"... Huh?"
"Step back."
He said this and pulled the trigger without hesitation. With a plop, a loud bang went off.
Green gas leaked out, and the Popheads all turned their eyes on him at once.
– Huh;;;
– Why'd he shoot?!
– Is he nuts!?
The viewers were dumbfounded.
But Gyeongbok answered through action, not words.
Popheads charged one by one, but he popped each like fireworks with every shot.
But it was something else that caught him off-guard.
"... I don't want to raise my child fatherless."
"What was that?"
"Just a joke."
Sandra flashed a grin and stood beside him without backing down. Gyeongbok let out a short laugh.
– Woah woah
– Sandra, yes!
– Tang, talk about guts!
– Yep, that's Sandra.
– Responsibility without pleasure, huh!
– "Just a joke" after causing controversy
– Never took Sandra for a scary one!
Now that Sandra joined in, the number of Popheads fell rapidly.
All the Popheads fell, leaving only a cloud of green mist.
"Phew... barely managed."
But Gyeongbok still didn't lower his gun.
The uneasy feeling hadn't lifted.
"... Something's coming."
"Huh? Something?"
Was it the darkness in his eyes?
The first sense was sound.
A screeching, discomforting noise like an awl scraping metal. The sound kept growing louder.
"John...?"
"This time, you'd better step back."
Trusting his prickling sixth sense, Gyeongbok holstered his pistol. Instead, he unslung his shotgun.
– What's that? What is it?
– Probably zombies drawn by the Pophead gas.
– Doesn't look like regular zombies though?
– Special zombie coming out here?
– And by the way, can't ignore that shining shotgun lol
Sandra hesitated briefly, apparently weighing whether to listen to Gyeongbok.
And in that split second, Gyeongbok grabbed her waist and pulled her back.
Just as he did, sticky webs landed heavily where they'd been standing.
Sandra's face turned pale as she raised her flashlight.
"... Ja, jarakne!"
The ceiling barely illuminated by the flashlight was full of spiders. But not ordinary ones.
You don't usually see spiders with human faces.
– Jarakne this early? The difficulty's off the charts.
– Chills, for real
– Why are there so many!
– Hate things with lots of legs...
– Was this even meant to be beaten?
– Forget this, call pest control!
Even the viewers freaked out.
That's how many spider zombies—Jarakne—there were.
"Let's see how this performs."
Gyeongbok bit the flashlight, scrunching his brow. Then, gripping the shotgun in both hands, he fired.
Thunderous blasts instantly shredded the Jarakne.
– As expected, top-tier item, confirmed performance lol
– Lol better play safe
– Who cares about Jarakne, we have the GOLDEN SHOTGUN!
– Why's holding the flashlight in your mouth look so cool?
– Seriously, looks like a cigar
Indeed, the shotgun's power was immense. Normally the spread would weaken at range, but the golden shotgun was different.
'Oh?'
Gyeongbok's lips curled upward.
Just the first shot was enough to get a feel for it.
"John!"
Ignoring Sandra's protests, he charged forward. Drawing the Jarakne's attention to shield her.
– Charging in here? Crazy?
– This isn't a game with tanks, you know!
– How's he gonna maintain vision?
But the viewers didn't get it. To them, it looked like Gyeongbok was risking suicide.
But their thinking changed immediately.
'No matter where I shoot, I'll hit.'
Dodging webs from all sides wasn't tough. His sixth sense was warning him "in advance."
He danced around the webs, pulling the trigger in quick succession. Each flash of light brought down swarms of Jarakne.
– LMAO
– Was this really meant to be beatable?! 〉 Oh yes, it was!
– Strength creates light! And now I feel invigorated!
– Still not enough faith left? Oh, Captain of Gold!
– Yay! (hammering away)
A performance on another level—physical skill couldn't explain it. The viewers cheered at his brilliant moves.
Soon, even the Jarakne were wiped out.
"Whew, honestly, that was a bit of item carry there."
Gyeongbok exhaled lightly. Without the shotgun, that would have been a tough fight.
– Nah hyung... even with a rocket launcher, we couldn't beat that
– Lol it's not the weapon, it's the player
– The shotgun got a buff from Purple
– Kingple! Godple! Lightple!
– Pur-el-lu-jah! Pur-el-lu-jah! Pur-el-lu-jah!
But the viewers just wouldn't acknowledge it was the item. They knew they couldn't copy this even with the same gear.
Gyeongbok smiled, about to speak again, when control was relinquished.
The fight had ended, and another cutscene began.
"So the Jarakne had made their nest down here..."
Sandra, looking over the bodies, couldn't hide her disgust. She stared across the tracks, visibly serious.
"John, is this really the right decision?"
John gazed into the darkness for a moment at her words.
"Right and wrong—sometimes we just don't know."
He took another step into the darkness and continued speaking.
"We make it right ourselves."
"John..."
"I told you I'd help, remember?"
John turned and held Sandra's hand. In the only light of the gloom, the two faced each other.
And as the screen faded out again, the chat scrolled frantically.
– Whoa...!
– That's like John from another world, lol
– I only ever got yelled at by Sandra...
– Dear customer, even the best machine is nothing if the pilot can't handle it.
– Why'd the devs hide this route?!
No matter how the viewers whined, the cutscene pressed on.
– Oh?
– A train!
– Wait, can we actually take the train?
John and Sandra were walking along the tracks when they discovered a stationary train.
"John."
"Maybe we can use it."
"Yes, if it's still running, we can help evacuate other survivors, too."
The two headed for the very last car. Apparently, only the tunnel lights were out—the subway itself still had working lights.
So the horrors inside were plain to see.
Seats and windows, all splattered with dried blood, corpses and gory chunks of flesh everywhere.
'Something feels off.'
Gyeongbok felt an unpleasant tingling. But in a cutscene, he couldn't act.
"The operator's cabin should be up front."
"Stick close."
John and Sandra hurried through the cars. Both eyed the corpses warily, but Gyeongbok sensed no need for caution.
'It's outside. Something's... out there.'
The further the cutscene advanced, the more the unease grew. He'd felt a similar sensation before.
"Here's the operator's cab."
"Do you know how to run it?"
"... Just needs to move, right?"
Sandra shrugged, grabbed the largest lever, and pushed it forward. The train slowly began to move.
– That's true lol
– Not like you're making announcements lol
– Now, if you've lost your head, please disembark at this stop.
– Lol crazy
As viewers joked, Gyeongbok finally pinpointed his sixth sense's warning.
'Just like during the Cluster—no, this is even stronger...!'
The sense of doom grew rapidly, alarms blaring in his mind.
At the same time, the cutscene's mood shifted in a flash.
"It's working!"
"Sandra!"
With a jolt, the train's headlights turned on, revealing an immense figure ahead.
John immediately pulled Sandra down. The next moment, the cabin splattered with pale slime.
"What is that!?"
"What the...!"
A giant Jarakne the size of a train car clung to the tunnel ceiling.
It screeched monstrously and approached. But that wasn't all.
"John! The controls!"
"Damn...!"
Its webs locked the control cabin in place. Meanwhile, the train was rapidly picking up speed.
At this rate, a collision with the next train was inevitable.
– Insane...!
– Is this a time attack?!
– The difficulty's wild, huh?
– Are we supposed to actually beat this?
– Didn't someone say that before? lol
– Even the viewers keep waffling lol
As the viewers cursed the devs, a thud shook the train.
"No way...?"
"Hurry!"
There was no doubt—the giant Jarakne was on top of the car. At the same time, Gyeongbok regained control.
"Whoa, even creepier up close."
That was Gyeongbok's first line as the boss fight began. Casually loosening his hands, he pulled out dual pistols.
"This time, we'll try dual-wielding."
Chat exploded with question marks.
– Where did this confidence come from?
– Ah, it's just his liver's massive.
– Doesn't seem like a fight you can win lol
– Isn't this about escaping before beating the boss?
– Yeah, sounds right.
– True, in previous routes there were cases like this.
Viewers guessed the boss fight was really an escape challenge—given that in other routes, sometimes clearing didn't require killing bosses.
But Gyeongbok tilted his head.
"Escape? That doesn't seem right..."
He said so, raised his gun to the window, and fired. The giant Jarakne recoiled from the headshot.
"If you shoot, it'll die."
He demonstrated through action. He advanced with Sandra, precisely predicting where the monster would appear and shooting it each time.
The chat was baffled.
– Wait, you just shoot and hit every time?
– How does he know where it'll come out?
– Aren't you supposed to back-to-back with Sandra here?
– Lol Sandra keeps trying to turn but he's so fast she spins instead
– Dev: Uh, it wasn't supposed to be like that... you're supposed to cooperate with Sandra...
– ???: You can do it solo, though?
– Lol he's clearing it way too easily~
As if on a jog, he moved relentlessly. Soon, the two reached the last car.
But the boss fight wasn't over.
"Good, this is what I wanted."
With a shudder of pure dread, Gyeongbok grinned. A deafening crash sounded as the rear of the train twisted and detached.
The ceiling above was split, and the giant Jarakne was charging after them at immense speed.
– Huh?
– It's phase two! Tang
– But if it's Purple, he'll beat it lol
– The spider dude just missed his escape chance, huh?
Viewers expected the real battle would start now. But the next development defied their expectations.
"John!"
"Grab onto anything!"
Webbing shot from the Jarakne, blanketing the train. Then, instead of a single direction, the train began shaking as if hit by an earthquake.
– Spider dude cheating;;
– Come on, at least let him aim
– Yeah, how's anyone supposed to aim in this?
– Is the subway the bad ending route or what?
Gyeongbok's eyes darted rapidly. If this kept up, they'd derail—game over for sure.
'That's it.'
Many gamers might panic in such a situation—but not him.
His honed senses and sixth sense detected a way out. He followed that instinct without hesitation.
A single gunshot rang out.
The bullet pierced the web connecting Jarakne to the train.
'Good.'
The web suddenly snapped, jerking the giant Jarakne's body violently. Its bulging head popped into view.
With his other pistol, Gyeongbok fired again.
Another shot, slicing through the darkness.
With a splat, blood burst from its back.
And—
Like a marionette with cut strings, the giant Jarakne crashed to the ground and collapsed.
– What the hell did I just watch?
– LOL
– He's more of a monster than the monsters...
– Is this... what "perfect" means?
– Shot and kill, shot and kill, lol
– What! I missed it!
– Honestly, we need to hear Jarakne's side of the story
– Seriously, must've been so unfair for it lol
The viewers were in a festive mood. But Gyeongbok couldn't laugh along.
"Guys, it's not over yet."
Even after defeating the boss, it didn't go to cutscene. That meant there was still something left to do.
– Ah, that's right.
– What about the train?
– It's still going too fast, isn't it?
– At least the Jarakne slowed it down earlier.
The train was still barreling along. Sandra, barely steady, came over to him.
"John...!"
Gyeongbok's eyes spun quickly. He turned to Sandra and spoke.
"Sandra, knife!"
"Huh? Oh, right!"
Startled, sandra handed over her knife. Gyeongbok immediately began cutting away the webbing stuck to the crumpled train.
– Oooooo?
– Something's happening...
– What decisiveness! What initiative!
– No wonder Sandra's in love with him
– I'd be reloading my save and looking up a guide lol
– It's the first reveal, what guide is there? lol
Meanwhile, Gyeongbok started braiding the webbing together.
'The stickiness is still good.'
He'd thought of it after seeing how the operator cab was webbed shut. He bundled up the webbing like a rope and tied it around his waist.
"You trust me, right?"
"... Yes!"
Sandra nodded.
– Only three syllables and yet so freaking cool lol
– I trust you, hyung!
– I trust you Purple trusts!
– I trust!
– Pur-el-lu-jah! Pur-el-lu-jah! Pur-el-lu-jah!
Sandra threw herself into his arms. He could feel her pounding heart.
Gyeongbok marveled at the detailed animations, but focused all his senses outside.
'It's a game, not like I'd actually die.'
He hurled the webbing with all his might. It slapped onto a pillar and tightened, yanking them both away.
He instinctively squeezed her tighter.
"Guh!"
The impact hit harder than expected. For a moment, the breath was knocked out of him.
But he felt no pain. Immediately, control was relinquished and a cutscene rolled.
– Oh, it's a cutscene.
– Whew, it's over now.
– Whoa... so that's really a clear.
– Insane insane
The viewers finally relaxed. Just then, the train derailed in the darkness with a deafening crash.
– Damn it! That scared me!
– 10 seconds slower and that would've been death.
– Eh, just part of the drama, right...?
Meanwhile, sandra staggered out of John's arms.
"We're alive... we're alive, John!"
She turned to him in joy. But immediately, her expression grew serious.
"John...?"
Her startled face filled the screen, and then it suddenly cut to black.
– ?????????????
– What the hell? What happened?
– Is this a bad ending?
– No way;;;;
– Dev, show yourself! Dev, show yourself! Dev, show yourself!
'Surely it's not REALLY a bad ending?'
Viewers were ready to track down the devs. Even Gyeongbok was briefly alarmed—but then a message appeared.
[Chapter 2. 'Survivors' End]
It was not a bad ending, but a notice of the end of Chapter 2.
– Whew.
– Lol, and here I was, getting worried.
– You're only getting a pass this once, got it?
As the chat calmed down, the Chapter 3 preview cutscene began.
But something was off.
"Sandra?"
"John, you... no, I'm sorry."
Sandra was distancing herself from John. She looked genuinely distraught.
The chat filled with question marks.
– Awkward...
– What is this? What the heck?
– Sandra...?
– Seriously, the devs really know how to milk this, huh
The cutscene continued quickly.
"Good thing you're all right."
"Yes, at this level... wait, is that?"
The two arrived at their next destination: an outlet mall. Fortunately, the outlet seemed safe. But the problem lay beyond.
"Soldiers?"
"What's going on?"
Soldiers were shown encircling the city's outskirts.
– Why are the soldiers here?
– Huh? Isn't this just city lockdown from Regenfarm?
– Spoilers out, Ban hammer please.
– Whatever, how's this a spoiler?
– Oh! They broke into the previously unplayable area through the subway!
– Yeah! It's a whole new city edge area!
– LMAO, does this route have even more content than the original?
– Wow... this stream is legendary in so many ways
Even seasoned Bio Crisis players had never seen this before.
