Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Old Tricks Repeated
After simply eating some biscuits, Su Changxing packed his belongings and prepared to leave. His goal tonight was clear: continue searching for the Mysterious Shop for Attribute Enhancement.
The bonuses from his position and the human body’s own attributes are calculated separately. His body still has great potential for enhancement. If he can undergo multiple enhancements, his combat power will be significantly boosted again.
Su Changxing pushed open the door. The corridor was even darker than the room. Looking ahead, he noticed that quite a few people were still huddled together in the hall, chatting eagerly.
"Do you know the person who came this afternoon? Covered in blood and holding a Steel Saber, really intimidating."
"Is he joining us too?"
"No, he was invited by Boss Huang. He’s been sleeping in the room since the afternoon."
"I noticed he has quite a lot of good stuff in his backpack, at least quite a lot of water. I heard he used water to wash his face."
"Ugh, I only drank two sips of water today, feeling terribly thirsty."
"I advise you not to harbor any ill thoughts. That person almost chopped Brother Qin today, and Boss Huang didn’t even say anything."
······
Su Changxing walked into the hall from the corridor, and the surroundings suddenly quieted down. Everyone stared at him, their eyes shining in the darkness like wolves.
"Tap tap tap~"
The slightly Heavy footsteps echoed through the empty hall.
Most of these people were newcomers today, but not Su Changxing. They belonged to two different factions, and Su Changxing was on their turf.
If these people truly feared no death and rushed forward, Su Changxing wouldn’t stand a chance. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t, and to Su Changxing, they were just lambs.
Most people still maintained the Order view of the present world. Their hearts remained in the stable and civilized modern society.
Su Changxing walked past them step by step with his backpack, without anyone stopping him, until he reached the staircase, a gentle female voice sounded from behind.
"Sir, it’s very dangerous outside at night. You’d better not go out."
A woman leaning against a column, wearing glasses, suddenly stood up to remind him.
Su Changxing glanced back at her, replied plainly, "Thank you."
Then he disappeared into the dark and deep stairway.
Su Changxing followed the stairs down to the first floor, just at midnight. A slight sensation appeared in his mind, and several indistinct light clusters appeared in his vision.
"Over four kilometers east is a Mysterious Shop, let’s go check it out."
The talent of the Store Delivery Person was more useful than Su Changxing had imagined, allowing him to precisely know the location and distance of the Mysterious Shop.
"At my current Speed, I can rush straight there."
Su Changxing casually slashed two Zombies and sprinted toward the Mysterious Shop, dexterously slipping past the Zombies like a Ghost Shadow traversing the street.
Many times, before the Zombies could react, Su Changxing had already dashed past them, forming an Undead Tide behind him within minutes.
Su Changxing outran the Undead Tide, and after more than ten minutes, he reached the Mysterious Shop and charged right in.
A small group clearing Zombies across the street happened to witness this; they originally intended to enter the Mysterious Shop.
A man holding a rusty machete stared blankly, "Chen San, did a big black rat just dash in?"
Another slightly short and fat man hesitated and replied, "Seems like a person, a person who runs very fast."
Meanwhile, chaotic roars came from the other side of the street. They turned their heads to see an Undead Tide rushing towards them.
"Damn it, which bastard attracted the Undead Tide? Run!"
Four or five people ran back without looking, the Mysterious Shop no longer mattered, only cursing the person who attracted the Undead Tide in their hearts.
"Was there someone across the street just now?"
Su Changxing felt something but paid no attention as he appeared in the Silver Gray Space, hearing a neutral electronic synthesizer voice around him.
[Detected complete position path, authenticate?]
Authenticate
[Authentication complete, access granted]
[No matching advanced position]
"So what’s the point of authentication?"
Su Changxing raised an eyebrow, walked to the blue screen, and found an extra column labeled Position Path in the shop.
[Tier Nine Chopper (Lower Rank)] No same-tier position available for exchange.
[Tier Nine Resurrectionist (Middle Rank)] No same-tier position available for exchange.
[Tier Nine Arsonist (Lower Rank)] No same-tier position available for exchange.
[Tier Eight Righteous Advocate (Lower Rank)] Does not match the existing position.
Four positions: three Tier Nine and one Tier Eight, all shown in gray.
Not a match?
Su Changxing bit the joint of his finger, falling into thought, now fully understanding the entire progression process.
Enhance the Mysteriousness of the existing position to the standard, then exchange in the Mysterious Shop for a higher-tier position that matches it.
"Finding a matching position might require some Luck, and what’s needed for exchange? Points?"
Since all four positions were gray, Su Changxing couldn’t see the detailed information, but he could roughly guess their abilities from the names.
Chopper likely enhances melee abilities, and Resurrectionist may relate to Recovery Ability. The Arsonist job is intriguing, possibly releasing flames barehanded? Mage?
Without much hesitation, Su Changxing flipped back to the shop’s item section and found rare resources, but only Speed Enhancement, and they had already been exchanged, leaving only one.
"Getting faster... well, better than not having it."
Su Changxing comforted himself, then exchanged for Speed Enhancement, a white light shot into his body, increasing his Speed by 0.1 again.
Ten minutes later, Su Changxing appeared on the street, finding the Undead Tide had left. He guessed it probably got attracted away by those people earlier.
He slowly closed his eyes and reopened them, seeing several more light clusters in front of him, with the nearest Mysterious Shop to the southwest, five kilometers away.
Su Changxing ran along the street toward the target, the Undead Tide formed behind him again. He was becoming more proficient in night sprinting.
But nearing the destination, Su Changxing discovered there were already people standing outside the Mysterious Shop.
Since there were people there, he had no intention to compete, planning to turn toward another direction and head to other Mysterious Shops.
At this moment, a piercing scream echoed from not far away, a hint of violet appeared in the Darkness.
The people in front of the shop realized they had no time to run, immediately caught up by the Screamer.
One person was instantly bitten in half by the Screamer, blood spurting ten meters away. The others were terrified by the scene, scattering in all directions.
Yet, the Screamer did not care about them, seemingly killing that person casually, chewing on the food in its mouth, its violet lantern-like eyes fixed on Su Changxing.
Su Changxing felt dumbfounded, not understanding why he was targeted by the Screamer.
These Screamers often chose distant prey over closer ones; their minds seemed troubled.
Someone darted past the Screamer, running in another direction, shouting, "Sorry, brother, I’m running first."
Su Changxing raised an eyebrow, the scene felt very familiar, as if he had experienced it not long ago.
Without hesitation, he sprinted down another street, though much stronger than before, clearly no match for this monster.
