Chapter 272: Ch 272 : Visiting Endor
"You can try first," Sunny said, his voice echoing softly in the pink void. He crossed his arms, leaning back against nothingness as if it were a plush chair. "I am curious to see what the Goddess of Night keeps in the corners of her mind."
Nyx took a deep breath. She closed her eyes, furrowing her brows in intense concentration.
She reached out with her mind, tapping into the potential of the Seed of Love that hung around her neck in the waking world.
The reaction was instantaneous.
The pink mist that surrounded them began to move.
The white marble floor Sunny had created dissolved into wisps of vapor. The crystal trees shattered into light and were absorbed back into the pink smoke.
For a moment, there was absolute nothingness. Then, the ground beneath them solidified with rich, dark soil teeming with life.
Grass sprouted in accelerated motion, exploding from the earth in waves of green.
Massive trees, resembling the oaks of Endor.
Nyx opened her eyes timidly, peering through her lashes.
She gasped. Beneath her feet was a world. Above her was a sky painted in blue.
"Wow," she breathed, turning in a slow circle, her dress swirling around her. "I... I created a whole planet, Boss."
She jumped, a burst of childlike joy radiating from her. "I did it!"
"Yeah, you did," Sunny said, an amused smile playing on his lips. He watched her excitement, finding it strangely contagious.
"So," Sunny asked, stepping onto the soft grass. "What do you want to do with it?"
Nyx looked at him, her eyes sparkling like the stars she now commanded. "Everything! I will recreate Endor! No, better, I will create fantasy worlds from the novels we used to read. I will build dungeons. I will create floating islands and underwater cities. I will create everything."
She looked ready to sprint off and start building mountains with her bare hands.
"Hold on, Architect," Sunny chuckled. "Before you build your empire, let me handle the physics. Specifically, the time."
He raised his hand. He didn’t invoke his Time Affinity, nor did he burn faith. In this realm, those laws held no sway. Here, the Seed of Love was the only law, and Sunny was its administrator.
He grabbed the concept of Time and stretched it until it screamed.
The sky above them flickered. The clouds, which had been drifting lazily, suddenly blurred into streaks of white before stabilizing again.
"It is done," Sunny announced, lowering his hand. "Now even if we spend a hundred years living in this world... barely a single second will pass in the outside world."
Nyx stared at him, processing the implication. "A hundred years here... is a second there?"
"Correct," Sunny nodded. "You can do anything here. You can create life. You can destroy it. If you wish for your creations to have souls, the Dreamer talent will simulate a soul so perfect even the Law of Life couldn’t tell the difference."
He gestured to the horizon. "Dreams are funny things, Nyx. Usually, you are a passenger in your own mind, watching events unfold without control. But here? Here, dreams have meaning. This is the Dream World. Here, you are the Author."
Nyx looked at the endless horizon she had made. She looked at the peace. She looked at Sunny, standing there without his mask, safe and relaxed.
A thought crept into her mind.
"Oh," she whispered. "Then... what is the point?"
Sunny tilted his head. "The point of what?"
"Of the fighting," Nyx said, her voice trembling slightly. "Why do we fight? Why do we stress over faith and demons? Why don’t we just... hide?"
She stepped closer to him, her eyes pleading. "We could hide in the Realm of Advancement. The Demon Lords can’t enter there. We could wipe out the local threats, seal the gates, and just... lay down. We could come here, into this dream, and live for a million years in paradise. We could dream for eternity, Boss."
Sunny looked at her. He understood the temptation. He, too, had wanted to hide.
"I also wanted to do that," Sunny admitted softly. He reached out and patted her head, a comforting gesture. "But I know it isn’t that easy."
His expression hardened, "Let’s say we hide. We lock ourselves in the Realm of Advancement for a million years. We live happy lives here in the dream. But outside? The Demon Lords will not stop. They will consume the multiverses. They will grow stronger. And eventually... do you really think a simple restriction on a realm will stop them?"
He shook his head. "They will find a way in. And when they do, we will be weak, softened by dreams, while they are sharpened by war. We would be cattle waiting for the butcher."
Nyx lowered her head. She knew he was right. Peace wasn’t a gift; it was a prize that had to be won with blood.
"The only thing we can do," Sunny continued, lifting her chin, "is become powerful. So powerful that the Demon Gods look at us and feel fear. Only then can we truly rest."
Nyx sniffled, composing herself. She was a Goddess, after all. She couldn’t crumble now.
"Then..." she wiped her eyes, "why don’t we use this place for training? We can create powerful monsters here. We can create Demon Lords. We can let the Gods and lifeforms fight and die a thousand times without consequence. We wouldn’t need the God-Maker realm."
Sunny smiled. "That is a great idea. Truly."
Nyx beamed.
"But sadly," Sunny crushed her hopes gently, "it wouldn’t work. Dreams are dreams, Nyx. You cannot gain Talents here"
Nyx slumped. "Oh."
"However," Sunny added, "you aren’t wrong about experience. Even if you don’t gain any talent, your mind learns. Muscle memory is real. Strategy is real. A fight in a dream is still a fight. You won’t get the talent, but you will get the wisdom."
He turned away from the forest, looking toward a blank patch of the horizon. "Sometimes, talent isn’t everything. Experience matters too."
He began to walk. As he moved, the landscape shifted. The forest gave way to paved roads. The trees morphed into streetlights.
"Come," he called back. "Let’s walk to Endor."
Nyx nodded, shaking off her melancholy. She ran to catch up with him.
As they walked, the world around them constructed itself from her memories.
Skyscrapers rose from the mist. Cars materialized on the roads. It was the Endor of the past, before their disappearance, before they become Gods.
"I will show you where I used to live," Nyx said, taking the lead. She began to hum a beautiful, nostalgic melody, her steps light and bouncing.
Sunny followed a few paces behind, his hands in his pockets. He was genuinely curious.
He had lived in a small, cramped apartment in a lower-tier city his entire life. He wondered what kind of life the girl who became the Goddess of Night had lived.
Soon, they arrived at the outskirts of the metropolis. Nestled on a hill overlooking the city was a colossal estate.
It was a mansion made of white marble, surrounded by a garden so vast it looked like a park. Fountains sprayed water into the air, and statues of varying artistic eras lined the driveway.
"This is your house?" Sunny asked, raising an eyebrow. He had expected wealth, but this was just too much.
"Yeah," Nyx shrugged, though a hint of pride colored her voice. "One of my houses. My dad was a big player in real estate, and my mother was a tycoon in the tech sector. I... didn’t lack for much growing up."
Sunny nodded. He remembered meeting her parents, now Gods in their own right among his subordinates.
"It’s nice," Sunny said. "Big. A bit empty, though."
"We can fix that," Nyx smiled.
They didn’t fly. They didn’t teleport. They simply walked. In a world where they were omnipotent, the act of walking felt like they are human.
They walked through the empty mansion. They walked through the silent city. And as they walked, they began to create.
"This shop needs a baker," Nyx said, pointing to an empty storefront.
Pop.
An NPC appeared; a stout, cheerful man kneading dough.
"This park needs children," Sunny suggested.
Pop. Pop. Pop.
Laughter filled the air as children materialized on the swings.
They continued their journey, leaving the city behind. They traveled across the entire continent.
They climbed mountains and swam in oceans.
Time passed. Not hours, or days. Years. They watched as new generation was born, from their creations.
They sat on the highest peaks and watched the suns they created set over the horizons they painted.
It was a long, quiet intimacy. There were no battles. No demons.
Just Sunny and Nyx, the only two real things in a universe of dreams.
By the time they circled back to the recreated Endor, the world was teeming with billions of NPCs. It was a living, breathing simulation of life.
Sunny stood on the balcony of Nyx’s mansion, looking out over the city lights. He felt... older.
"It has been a long time," he whispered.
Nyx stood beside him, resting her elbows on the railing. She looked at him, her eyes filled with years of shared memories.
"Eight years," she said softly. "We have been walking for eighty years, Sunny."
Sunny turned to look at her. In the real world, less than a second had passed. But in here... they had lived a lifetime together.
"Not a bad way to spend a second," he smiled.
