Three additional tasks popped up in the chat room, but Lin Ye was more concerned about where his three teammates had gone.
Lin Ye found himself transported into a small supermarket, with thick white fog outside and no one around.
Zhou Wen: I'm in a residential house's room. There seems to be something moving outside the door. I'm afraid to alert it, so I dare not use psychic perception.
Hu Tingting: I seem to be in a school cafeteria. Something's not right here - the walls appear to have moving things on them.
Xu Changnian: I'm in a hospital ward. There are strange sounds in the hallway.

Hu Tingting: Roger.

None of the three asked Lin Ye for help. The system assigned stations based on strength - those paired with Lin Ye were no weaklings.
Lin Ye began inspecting the supermarket. It was single-story but covered a large area with over a dozen large shelves, plus other areas like restrooms, an office, and a storage room.
While checking the shelves, Lin Ye found a small refrigerator that could be taken to the shelter.
'I can take this when we leave.'
The shelter had always needed a refrigerator to store mutation organs and body parts, but space was limited - it couldn't accommodate large ones.
After checking between shelves, Lin Ye moved to other rooms. The storage and office areas were clear, leaving only the restroom.
As Lin Ye approached the restroom, he sensed something hiding inside - a grotesque mass of flesh with numerous mutation organs actively functioning within it.
Drawing Red Blade, Lin Ye used a mirror to peek around the corner. Though his perception was strong, humans were ultimately visual creatures - seeing was easier to understand.
The restroom was packed with flesh that had lost its biological form, becoming an expansive mass occupying space.

'But how did it mutate like this?'

'Artificial intervention? But for what purpose? Experiments? Mass-producing mutation organs?'

Not dwelling on it, Lin Ye cut open the aberrant flesh and retrieved the abnormally active mutation organs inside.
After clearing the restroom and confirming no other anomalies in the supermarket, Lin Ye left to search nearby for supplies.
He mainly wanted to find a gun store for weapons. While ordinary firearms couldn't handle strong first-rank Mutation Creatures, they were more than enough for weaker ones.

The town seemed to lack gun stores, but Lin Ye found police equipment at a nearby station. Though inferior in firepower and quantity to their previous haul, it would suffice.
When Lin Ye returned to the supermarket with a shopping cart, his three teammates were already waiting.

Zhou Wen: Something's off here too. The monsters look terrifying but aren't strong - almost like performance art.
"Sigh, hope we finish investigating soon. My girlfriend's waiting to marry me." Zhou Wen sighed.
Hu Tingting: Everyone at school disappeared. I found student notes with clues. Before the fog came, there was a strange illness spreading. Early symptoms resembled severe flu - some patients had 43°C fevers yet remained functional. Hospitals couldn't determine the cause. That's all the useful info.
"Want me to introduce you to some boyfriends? Many friends like cute kids like you." Hu Tingting said smiling.
"No thanks. I don't want strange diseases." Zhou Wen replied pointedly.
Xu Changnian: The hospital has detailed records and specimens. I took photos with lots of technical terms and data I don't understand. Take a look.
Xu Changnian posted over a dozen photos in chat, then said coldly:
"Do you have female friends? I've never dated." His expression looked more like demanding loan repayment than seeking romance.
"Well...my friends don't date, but they can solve your needs. I can introduce several if you want." Hu Tingting didn't check the photos - having left school early, such dense material was better for the high schooler.
While Lin Ye and Zhou Wen appeared to chat casually, both were carefully studying the photos. Xu Changnian checked equipment while earnestly conversing with Hu Tingting.
"A few might not be enough. Can you introduce more, Sister Ting?"
