Qin An: "...You're kind of scaring me."
Lin Ye: "I'm confirming whether you have the resolve to save your classmates at any cost. If not, we'd better run now."
Qin An: "...I don't, but I won't hide."
Lin Ye: "That's resolve, idiot."
Lin Ye directly took over Qin An's body - he never needed Qin An's permission. But upon assuming control, Lin Ye immediately realized his mistake.
Lin Ye rarely made mistakes, but that didn't mean he never did. The simulation missions had given him the illusion that controlling others' bodies was easy. But the Organization wasn't the System, and the Organization's equipment wasn't the D-Rank Personnel Simulator. Controlling Qin An's body proved much harder than Lin Ye anticipated.
It felt like trying to perform precise movements by controlling a character through a laptop touchpad. Moreover, Qin An's body was extremely fragile - not even comparable to the weakest D-Class personnel - making sustained control impossible.
Lin Ye: "Your body's too weak. I can't maintain control for long."
Qin An: "What should we do then?"
Lin Ye: "Feel the spiritual energy inside you? I'll guide its flow - you absorb it to strengthen your body. Once you're tougher, things will improve."
Lin Ye had no choice but to have Qin An cooperate. Under Lin Ye's guidance, Qin An clumsily absorbed surrounding spiritual energy to enhance his physique. Throughout this process, the two black-coated men in the classroom kept their guns trained on them without further action.
But Lin Ye could sense intense spiritual energy fluctuations coming from the playground outside. Whatever these terrorists planned, time was running out.
As Qin An desperately absorbed energy, Lin Ye strategized their combat approach. He couldn't maintain constant control of Qin An's body - a fatal weakness in battle. If he lost control at a critical moment, they'd die.
Just then, one black-coated man received instructions through his earpiece.
"Orders are to bring some students downstairs. You hold here."
"Copy."
The other black-coated man responded. The first gestured his gun toward students cowering in the corner:
"You five - come with me."
"Please no..."
"Don't kill me, I beg you..."
"Mommy... *sobs*..."
"I'll pay anything! My family's rich!"
"Teacher... help..."
The five selected students pleaded pathetically. They were ordinary youths who'd never contemplated mortality, let alone faced death directly. Their teacher dared not even look at the gunman or students - the barrel was less than three meters away, and he wanted to live.
"Let them go. Take me instead."
Yu Jing stood up. As class monitor and Public Security Bureau trainee, she belonged at the front... or dying there first. Though trying to appear calm, her trembling legs betrayed her fear.
Lin Ye: "She's impressive. Wasted on you - you'll never catch her. Give up."
Qin An: "Divine One! Is this really the time?! Save her! Please!"
Lin Ye: "Begging me's pointless. I can only intervene at critical moments. Whether she lives, whether you live, whether anyone lives - that's on you."
Qin An: "What should I do?!"
Lin Ye: "Follow my instructions without hesitation. I'll act when needed, but before and after depends on you. One mistake means death for all."
'And for me too. Fair enough.'
Qin An: "Understood."
Lin Ye: "Now stand and approach the nearest gunman - as close as possible."
Qin An rose and walked toward the black-coated man:
"Count me in."
"Qin An?"
Yu Jing stared in shock. She barely remembered this classmate except as somewhat reclusive.
"Hey, two volunteers! Hope you stay this brave downstairs. Move or die - I won't ask again."
The gunman threatened three nearest students with his weapon, forcing them to shuffle forward. Qin An was now within one meter - the gunman clearly suspected his intent but allowed closer approach, confident even point-blank proximity posed no threat.
A correct assumption... if Qin An were still Qin An.
With Qin An's armspan being 70cm, this distance proved unsafe. Lin Ye assumed control, concentrating spiritual energy in Qin An's right arm and fingertips. As Qin An naturally swung his arm while walking, his hand suddenly pierced the gunman's chest, ripping out his heart.
The falling hand grabbed the pistol holstered at the gunman's waist, flicked off the safety, and headshot the second black-coated man before the first body hit the floor.
BANG!
Both died without comprehending what happened.
Lin Ye: "Quickly arm up - their friends are coming."
Qin An: "Holy shit! Right!"
Qin An was stunned. Even witnessing it firsthand, the Divine One's movements were too fast to follow.
Lin Ye: "Take one rifle with all mags, all pistols, and those two grenades."
Only then did classmates react:
"That's Qin An?"
"What did he just do? I missed it."
"He killed those terrorists?"
"Impossible!"
"Some ancient martial arts master?"
"With guns? More like discharged special forces!"
"...He's seventeen?"
"Fake ID. Probably child soldier recently discharged."
"But I've known him since elementary school?"
Yu Jing approached the corpses, picking up the second rifle:
"Qin, thank you. You're PSB, right?"
"Huh? No... what's PSB?"
As Qin An tried explaining, Lin Ye interrupted:
Lin Ye: "Aim at the front door."
Qin An hastily complied. Lin Ye timed his takeover perfectly, double-tapping two heads peeking through the doorway.
BANG! BANG!
Lin Ye: "Give her two mags and a not-too-tall heroic silhouette. No chatter."
Only after obeying did Qin An process his actions.
Qin An: "Why give her magazines?"
Lin Ye: "Relax, I've got you. Can't even flirt properly - have to coach you mid-combat."
Though inexperienced himself, Lin Ye drove fast.
Qin An: "I'm not trying to-"
Lin Ye: "Save it. Know why sinners love confessing?"
Qin An: "Why?"
Lin Ye: "Because they know they're wrong but won't change."
