Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator-Chapter 91: Station No.4

Chapter 91

Ten minutes later, the bus arrived at the second station.
Outside the station stood a lifeless city under a gloomy gray sky, devoid of any living creatures.
Lin Ye: Let's move to the next one. This place doesn't feel right.
Ding Wei: I feel the same way.
Xia Xi: Agreed.
Liu Rui: Agreed... Wait, why can't I sense anything?
Another ten minutes passed before reaching the third station.
Outside stood a restaurant where the guards at the entrance stared fixedly at the bus—or more accurately, at its passengers.
Xia Xi: I enjoy cooking, but I don't want to be cooked.
Ding Wei: I don't like cooking.
Lin Ye: I'm alright with it. I usually cook for myself at home.
Liu Rui: I like eating.
The restaurant clearly had major issues. They couldn't even discern the guards' power levels, so no one suggested getting off.
Ten minutes later, the fourth station arrived.
The fourth station was shrouded in darkness, revealing a city with twisted, eerie architecture under a blood-red moon. The moonlight extended like threads, seemingly intertwined with the city itself.
Xia Xi: ...Should we check it out? If we survive, we might return with great rewards.
Ding Wei: If you want to die, go ahead by yourself.
Liu Rui: I'm not going either.
Lin Ye: Agreed. I doubt we'd make it out alive.
The bus departed, and ten minutes later, the fifth station came into view.
This station also led to a city, but unlike the others, it appeared completely normal. Though no living beings lingered at its edges, Mutation Creatures could be seen roaming about.
Lin Ye: This place seems decent.
Ding Wei: True. The city's intact—we could gather supplies here.
Xia Xi: No objections. Let's stop here.
Liu Rui: I don’t mind either... but isn’t this city a little too perfect?
Lin Ye: ...She has a point. Should we try the next station?
Xia Xi: There aren’t many stations left. What if the remaining ones are worse? Have any of you been to the Shallow Sea Area?
Ding Wei: Let’s just get off here. The urban environment is complex—even if there’s danger, we can hide.
Lin Ye carefully scanned the city outside the window but detected no threats.
Lin Ye: Alright, we’ll disembark here.
The four stepped off the bus one by one. Neither the driver nor the other passengers reacted, and this time, even when Lin Ye glanced back, he received no response.
[Station selection complete. Additional mission acquired—optional.]
[1. Survive]
[2. Survive]
[3. Survive]
Lin Ye: ...We're doomed.
Xia Xi: Sorry, I shouldn’t have suggested stopping here.
Ding Wei: Don’t panic. Maybe it’s just the system messing with us?
Liu Rui: I’ve never seen the system joke before.
Lin Ye: No choice now. Let’s check it out. Unless this is an inescapable death zone, there’s always a way out.
Lin Ye and Ding Wei took the lead while Xia Xi and Liu Rui guarded the rear. The group cautiously entered the city.
Apart from the complete absence of people, the city showed no abnormalities—buildings stood intact, facilities were fully operational, and supermarket shelves were stocked with goods.
They could easily gather most essential supplies here.
Had the system not issued that ominous additional mission, they would’ve already split up to loot the place.
After traversing a commercial street without encountering anything unusual, Xia Xi broke the silence.
Xia Xi: What now? I can’t sense any source of danger.
Lin Ye: Same here. Maybe it’s not time yet. I suggest setting up a base first—if the environment suddenly changes, it’ll buy us reaction time.
Ding Wei: Seconded.
Xia Xi: Agreed. I have an item that can deploy a spiritual energy shield.
Liu Rui: I’ll handle odd jobs.
They quickly found a small supermarket near an exit, reminding Lin Ye of their first station mission—though this one was even smaller, single-story, and less than 200 square meters.
The city’s spiritual energy density was normal. With some mutation materials, Lin Ye could inscribe protection runes on the supermarket walls.
Splitting up, they hunted nearby Mutation Creatures. After securing the first batch of corpses, Lin Ye and Xia Xi set up the spiritual energy shield inside while Ding Wei and Liu Rui continued hunting outside.
While processing the corpses, Lin Ye noticed something odd—the Mutation Creatures here had bizarre internal structures unlike anything he’d seen, and their purpose eluded him completely.
But time was short. With no opportunity for further study, he shelved the mystery.
Working together, they fortified the supermarket base before nightfall.
Ding Wei: My talent ability relates to vision—I can see many details.
Lin Ye: Mine’s a support ability, useless in combat.
Xia Xi: My talent involves spiritual energy items.
Liu Rui: Mine’s tied to physical movement.
Lin Ye: Anyone hungry? I brought some delicious energy bars to share.
Ding Wei: No appetite in this situation. Besides, the supermarket’s full of food.
Xia Xi: Better not touch anything here.
Liu Rui: Lin, what are you staring at?
Lin Ye: The orange juice... It turned red.
Ding Wei: Huh? What does that mean?
Lin Ye: Not sure. This orange juice might change properties based on the environment. I filled a cup to study earlier—it was yellow back then.
Xia Xi: Look, it’s raining outside.
Liu Rui: Why is the rain red?
Lin Ye looked up. The blood-red moon hung overhead, its tendril-like moonlight bathing the city. Under the rain, the city began twisting and warping—like a reflection disturbed by droplets, rippling until the entire landscape contorted unnaturally.
"Station No.4..."
Xia Xi murmured weakly.
"Did we never leave that station?"
Ding Wei started doubting his own memories.
"Are the next few stations just this same city?"
Liu Rui shuddered, overwhelmed by an inescapable dread.
Lin Ye gripped his hair tightly. He refused to believe all subsequent stations were this city—the system could handle even the Abyss, and this place felt far less terrifying by comparison.
*'What do we do? Use that special skill?'*
*'No. We must last until morning. Even if Safe Route finds a temporary safe spot now, there’s no guarantee it’ll stay that way.'*
Outside, buildings writhed like living creatures, shedding objects that sprouted limbs and emitted eerie shrieks.
Now Lin Ye understood why those Mutation Creatures had such strange anatomies.
Thanks to the spiritual energy shield, their supermarket hadn’t transformed into a monster yet—but it was only a matter of time.
Thick crimson tendrils burst from the walls, tearing at everything within reach.
The supermarket roof began leaking.
