God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 275: Next Steps!

Chapter 275

Chapter 275: Next Steps!
"Livestock mortality rates are crazy high to begin with—not sure if you knew that. Pigs are usually somewhere between 15% to 30%, cattle over 10%, sheep around 15%, goats at 35%, chickens..."
The God of Nature could tell Viscount Roster was shocked, but also realized he only had a rough idea of the numbers. So he laid out the detailed stats: "I don’t know exactly what’ll happen with concentrated breeding, but my guess is—without proper prevention and treatment—the death rate could actually be even higher."
"After all, a lot of diseases are contagious, you know? But with my Animal Formula No. 1, things are gonna be totally different."
"Any livestock baby that takes it on schedule—there’s basically no way it’ll die from disease."
"All those common infectious diseases can be cured?" Roster stared at the God of Nature in a daze. It suddenly hit him that the God of Technology’s concentrated breeding plan, combined with help from these gods, was going to unleash some seriously incredible power.
"Pretty much any disease that exists in this world can be handled. Mortality rates for all livestock and poultry should drop to somewhere between 3% to 5%." The God of Nature was super confident.
Viscount Roster was pumped.
"Don’t worry, I promise I’ll make sure everyone in this world knows your name!"
"Ha ha, I’m pretty confident in how you guys handle things." The God of Nature laughed: "Actually, I’ve got another project going that should be wrapping up soon. I’ll surprise you with that one."
"What project?"
"Well, if I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise, right? Won’t be long though, don’t worry!" The God of Nature was becoming more and more confident in Viscount Roster.
He seemed way more comfortable to work with than those elf believers of his.
Viscount Roster chatted with the two gods for a bit longer. Suddenly, the Goddess of Agriculture spoke up: "You’re basically ruling over that entire region now. I want to ask you—if you were in my shoes, what crops or livestock would you focus on developing next?"
"If I were in your position, I’d probably prioritize chickens that lay tons of eggs and cows that produce lots of milk."
Viscount Roster thought about it. "You can only eat meat once from a slaughtered animal, but egg-laying hens can produce eggs for two or three years, and dairy cows can keep producing milk indefinitely. These foods play a huge role in improving people’s quality of life."
"Plus, one of your domains is grains. If you could develop a grain that’s perfect for cattle, sheep, chickens, and ducks, I think that’d be a solid path forward. After all, you can’t have livestock eating just grass forever, right? And grains can be eaten by both people and animals in emergencies, which would boost people’s resilience against risks."
"A grain perfectly suited for cattle, sheep, chickens, and ducks... You mean one that livestock can easily convert to meat, or one with massive yields where taste doesn’t matter at all?"
Even though she could read Viscount Roster’s thoughts, they weren’t completely clear. So the Goddess of Agriculture didn’t hesitate to ask for clarification.
At some point, the two of them had actually started treating Viscount Roster with a certain level of respect.
"Both would be ideal, but if I had to pick one, yield is definitely most important. Taste doesn’t matter at all."
Viscount Roster didn’t hesitate this time. "If necessary, you can sacrifice taste and texture completely. As long as the yield is high and eating it keeps people from starving, that works."
"Got it." The Goddess of Agriculture nodded slightly.
After a brief exchange, she left in a hurry—she was ready to adjust the direction of her experiments.
The God of Nature also gave a few more instructions and confirmed that the elf kingdom would maintain its support for Roster before leaving as well.
Looking at the now empty space in front of him, Roster wiped the sweat from his forehead. Yeah, being around these gods was still pretty stressful.
"But the Divine Flora and Fauna Research Institute—the other gods should be starting to see some results too, right?"
Roster suddenly thought about how all these gods had started cultivating crops and such under the God of Technology’s influence. Basically, they all started at the same time, but up until today, only these two top-tier gods had succeeded.
Even if the other gods were slower, they should be starting to see results by now, right?
"Whatever, it’s not something I can influence. I’ll wait for them to contact me." After thinking about it for a while, Roster shook his head slightly and stopped dwelling on it.
Spreading a crop to the mortal realm and having it impact one’s faith was incredibly difficult. Aside from him, almost no one could pull it off—not even these gods’ churches.
After organizing his thoughts and making sure everything was in order, Viscount Roster instantly vanished from the Tech Lab.
"The ultra-high-speed train is still in the planning stages and needs a ton of money—50 million gold coins might not even be enough. All the component factories are under construction too, which also needs money. Farms all across the Southern territories are being built..."
Viscount Roster looked at the plan in front of him and quickly started calculating the budget. Sure, he only planned to add a few more breeding farms, which—compared to the ultra-high-speed train—could only be described as cheap. But his funds were seriously limited!
"Do I need to go get another loan from the dragons?"
Dragon Bank was definitely generous with loans, but being generous also meant thinking about how to get the money back. The preferential terms they’d given him were absolutely one-of-a-kind.
But even so, he didn’t think Dragon Bank could become an ATM where he just borrowed money whenever he ran out. Eventually, they’d get wary, even suspicious. Then getting loans would be way harder.
Viscount Roster couldn’t quite decide what to do.
"Wait a minute! The Church of Agriculture wants to invest. Sure, the Goddess of Agriculture is bringing special livestock breeds as a technical investment, but I’ve got technical know-how too, right? The technology for building those massive magic-tech factories—that’s all from me, isn’t it? So having them put up some capital should be fine, right?"
After who knows how long, Viscount Roster seemed to suddenly think of something. He immediately started contacting the Church of Agriculture through the Magic Net!
The Church of Agriculture, as the church of the God of Agriculture, had established its own churches in various places across the continent over the years. Whenever there were problems with planting or breeding, lords from different regions would seek them out first.
They’d even help with things like fertilizing land when there weren’t enough druid potions available.
Under these circumstances, Viscount Roster was convinced they must have an absolutely terrifying amount of wealth. They probably even did lending business. Now that Dragon Bank had disrupted that line of business, their funds should be pretty flush.
Having them provide some capital for their god’s plan was totally reasonable!
