Chapter 296: So That’s What the Tulip Kingdom Is
For Ren and the Goddess of Magic, distance was basically meaningless.
In just an instant, they appeared in the northeastern corner of the Kingdom of Dawn.
This was exactly where legendary magician Drinkwater had pursued his enemy in that final battle—and where he’d encountered the black-robed figure from the Tulip Kingdom.
For the Kingdom of Dawn, this was just wasteland. But if you could break through the ice and cross the strait, you’d reach Lady Dream’s Tulip Kingdom—that legendary pocket nation built from dreams, supposedly home to dozens of legendary magicians.
"Should we go straight in?"
The Goddess of Magic asked.
Lady Dream’s death was suspicious, the Tulip Kingdom’s existence was even more suspicious, and then there was that weird black-robed figure with special energy from a while back. The Goddess of Magic also wanted to investigate and figure out what was really going on.
But since they’d agreed Ren would take the lead on this, she naturally wouldn’t overstep.
"Let’s check out that port the Tulip Kingdom opened to the outside world first. If we don’t find anything wrong, we’ll go deeper."
Ren looked at the small island in the distance, something strange in his eyes.
Before, observing from his divine realm through his authority, he hadn’t noticed—but the Tulip Kingdom was kinda weird.
What normal beings saw when they looked at the Tulip Kingdom was actually fake, but not completely fake. You should think of it as... a mirage.
The whole Tulip Kingdom—only a tiny reef actually existed in reality, just big enough to hold that single port connecting to reality where foreigners could visit.
Everything else was in a layer between reality and illusion... the Spirit Realm!
Without even thinking much, Ren already understood. This illusory nation was actually a region similar to the Spirit Realm.
Or rather, it literally was the Spirit Realm.
He’d once stolen Spirit Realm authority and knew it originated from Lady Dream. But he never imagined the Tulip Kingdom itself was a Spirit Realm world.
And this Spirit Realm world hadn’t vanished even after Lady Dream fell.
He didn’t know if it was because this Spirit Realm was special, or if Lady Dream actually hadn’t died—maybe just had some of her authority plundered by the God of War, but she still had some left...
Ren’s mind raced, and he voiced his thoughts.
The Goddess of Magic was also surprised.
"Without Spirit Realm-type authority, probably no one would notice this nation doesn’t actually exist in reality—not even gods."
The Goddess of Magic hadn’t detected it. She figured other gods wouldn’t either.
"Now that’s interesting."
Ren’s eyebrow twitched slightly. "Let’s go. We’ll check out that port first... stay hidden."
If they wanted to hide, even standing next to countless legendary magicians wouldn’t be a problem.
No one would notice.
The Tulip Kingdom shouldn’t be a problem either.
The next instant, they appeared at the Tulip Kingdom’s port.
Looking around, nothing seemed unusual.
It was no different from the most ordinary port town in the Kingdom of Dawn. A large bay, plenty of ships docked, lots of people transporting cargo all around, some selling seafood they’d caught.
As islanders, the people here didn’t seem very interested in seafood. They actually preferred mainland goods purchased from the Kingdom of Dawn.
"Doesn’t seem like anything unusual, except this tiny little port somehow has three legendary magicians and two legendary knights."
The Goddess of Magic had also used magic power to search the vicinity.
"You can still control magic power freely here?"
"Of course. As long as it’s magic power on this planet, even if it’s inside an enemy’s body, I can control it."
As the Goddess of Magic spoke, she specifically sensed around—but this sensing was fine until she actually did it, and then she instantly found something unusual.
"Something’s wrong, Ren. I’m sensing a strange power. It’s very faint, but it’s there."
"I sensed it too. Those black-robed figures we saw before seem to be using this special energy."
Ren casually directed his gaze to a winding path in the distance.
In the real world, looking from this port, behind it there was a main road stretching into the distance. Where the road connected, there were some soldier-looking guys keeping watch.
So anyone who didn’t know better would definitely think that was the only route to the other cities of the ’isolationist’ Tulip Kingdom, the only way to find those legendary magicians. But the reality was, once you walked down that road, you’d never come back.
Because it was a road that didn’t exist in reality. Once you stepped on it, you’d fall right through...
If you just fell into the sea, that’d actually be fine. Anyone who made it to the Tulip Kingdom had to know how to swim.
But the problem was, falling from there would drop you straight into the boundary between reality and illusion. Even Ren had only mastered part of the ability to control that place. At most, he could walk around freely in there—he didn’t really understand what it was.
And that was as a god with some authority.
If it were a mortal, probably even a legendary magician would get lost in there, never finding a way out.
Only that illusory little path he’d found was the real road to the Tulip Kingdom.
Passing through a wall that seemed to exist in reality but was actually illusory, they stepped onto this path.
The instant they stepped on it, even without using any authority or abilities, they could see the real Tulip Kingdom.
The ’seawater’ in the distance surged like a tide, except this ’seawater’ was a viscous silvery-white liquid.
Whenever this special seawater touched the Tulip Kingdom’s land, the boundary embankment would twist and deform, but when the seawater receded, it would quickly return to normal.
Following this path—who knows how long they walked—the surrounding trees gradually became more numerous. These trees weren’t a single species... actually, you couldn’t even call this a forest anymore.
Because some of these trees only existed in the far south of the continent, some only in the north. Some needed high mountains and altitude, while others could only grow on plains...
Anyone with even basic knowledge of these trees, or rich experience, would find this pretty creepy.
What kind of place could grow all these trees from completely different environments?
Ren grew curious. Using his authority for a quick look, something unusual appeared in his eyes.
These trees actually existed in reality. Each tree represented a coordinate. Through the root system, you could travel to somewhere in the real world.
From a certain angle, these trees were like mirrors of reality, with the roots in the mirror connecting to the roots in reality.
"Lady Dream really had some ideas. But if such a convenient thing exists, why have that outside port? Through here, you should be able to reach anywhere in the real world."
