Chapter 781: Chapter 438: Odin’s Recognition
"Father!"
Seeing his father conversing with his future father-in-law after the arrival, Iliad shouted, looking towards the distant sky, reminding them of the reason for their arrival here.
"Hmm?"
Noah, who was setting a time with Odin, glanced at his eldest son, then cast a displeased look into the distance. Frosty white air was churning and spreading in the sky, a harbinger of some presence’s arrival.
Roar——
The sky trembled, the earth shook, and through the cracks stretching between the sky and the earth, gloomy demonic qi from the abyss gushed forth. Fragmented ice shards and fist-sized hailstones descended alongside the surging demonic qi.
The ice age arrives
The distinctly visible freezing air, amid another surge of demonic qi, spread across the Michigan Plane. One after another, massive and sturdy humanoid figures emerged with the arrival of the cold surge, walking out from the abyssal chasm.
"Frost Giants!"
Noah clearly saw what constituted the abyssal army descending—it was one of the most famous monster races from the extreme cold regions of the Material Realm.
As a branch of the giant race, Frost Giants and the White Dragons active in polar regions could be said to both love and kill each other. Frost Giants would hunt or even raise juvenile White Dragons, and once the White Dragons became powerful, they would in turn slaughter Frost Giant tribes.
As a giant species that stands shoulder to shoulder with White Dragons, Frost Giants were not particularly commendable. However, the Frost Giants appearing in Noah’s eyes at this moment were clearly those corrupted by the abyss.
In the chaotic and disorderly abyss, all sorts of impossibilities could be created. In the harsh environment of the abyss, even an abyss worm, as long as it could survive and continuously devour, or hunt its kind or demons, could evolve into a legendary-level abyss brood mother.
In the abyss, there were no restrictions. As long as someone could live through slaughter to the end, no matter what it was, it could become a legend, or even advance to become an Abyss Lord and ultimately a Demon Prince.
Before his eyes, attempting to break through the rules of the Material Realm to descend in true form was a Frost Giant King that had advanced to become an Abyss Lord!
"Let me do it!"
Seeing Noah lock onto the descending abyssal Frost Giant King, Odin stepped forward, an expression of reminiscence and lamentation on his face, and volunteered,
"I didn’t expect the descendants of Bergelmir to have fallen to such a degree!"
"Bergelmir?"
Noah found the name extremely familiar,
"The ancestor of giants?"
"More precisely, the ancestor of Frost Giants."
Odin explained, while raising his hand, incandescent thunder began to shine between his fingers, gathering into a spear,
"He was also one of the few friends I had!"
In the middle of speaking, this revived Ancient God, in a rather carefree manner, flung the Thunder Spear in his hand, as if he were tossing a dart rather than javelin throwing.
Amidst the thunderous roar, it cut through the atmosphere, pierced through the surging abyssal demonic qi tide, leaving a track in it as if fate had carved it, hitting accurately the Frost Giant King that Noah had only just seen as a blur!
Roar~
Accompanied by a roar full of pain and helplessness, the abyss lord, with a will to destroy the world, collapsed before completely crossing that torn Eye of Abyss.
The Frost Giant army preparing to invade the Michigan World fell into chaos the moment their monarch collapsed, the barely-unfolded military might instantly crumbling.
Just with a single blow, this Odin God successfully repelled the abyssal invasion capable of world destruction, but to the abyss, it’s nothing special. As long as the abyss keeps anchoring onto this Material Realm, the demon army’s invasion will be continuous and unending.
"Friend?"
Now Noah had a different understanding of the "friends" Odin spoke of, thinking it was rather the opposite, that this ancestor of the Frost Giants was probably his arch-nemesis.
"Is he still around?"
"He perished long ago."
Precisely guessing that Noah still wanted to ask something, Odin added,
"He died very thoroughly, almost with no possibility of resurrection. I did not perceive any signs of his revival before my fall, and from how his descendants are acting now, he is basically not going to be revived."
"Are the current Frost Giants much weaker compared to your era?"
Noah asked curiously.
As a powerful race that stands on par with the Dragon Clan, the giants also had similar characteristics in some respects, such as how the rise and fall of the Dragon Clan had a decisive influence by the Dragon God and Dragon Kings.
The same applied to the Giant Clan—without an ancestor-level giant comparable to a Dragon King, the giant’s bloodline would only grow weaker generation by generation.
"Pathetically weak. In my days, Frost Giants weren’t this small; the snow and ice disasters caused by Frost Giants were one of the disasters my people feared and dreaded the most."
"These corrupted Frost Giants have been blessed by the Abyss Will, so they are much larger than their kin on the Material Plane; actual Frost Giants are even smaller."
Noah cleared up a misunderstanding about the Frost Giants.
The Frost Giant army emerging from the abyssal rift had an average height of over ten meters, while a Material Realm Frost Giant reaching seven to eight meters could be considered robust, with the common height around six meters.
So the Frost Giants proliferating across the various planes now are significantly weaker than those in the abyss.
