Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 818 456: Heavenly Temple, The Advent of Giant Beasts (Part 2)

Chapter 818

"What's happening?"
The sudden change threw many High Elves in the Royal Court into a fit of rage and shock. As the Elven Legends soared into the sky, rushing towards the spreading fissure, an ancient and desolate aura emanated from within.
With their keenest senses and swiftest reactions, all the elves stopped halfway, daring not to advance another step, casting a gaze of confusion and uncertainty towards the spreading fissure.
"What is that?"
"I don't know, but it certainly isn't anything good!"
A tall Elf with a delicate yet stern face had a particularly grim expression.
"Why now of all times? Why does this happen when Parvati has left the Royal Court?"
"Shut up! What difference does it make if she's gone? Can we not accomplish anything without her?"
"But she is the strongest Legend of the Royal Court, our only near-Saint!"
When faced with absolute power, any claim to noble bloodlines becomes laughable. In the face of a sudden crisis, the noble High Elves, naturally, come to realize what they truly desire.
"Hah, you're still thinking about her? Do you find it odd that trouble arose just as she left?"
"Are you suggesting this is a conspiracy between her and that dragon? That's unlikely, right?"
"She left the Royal Court to seek an audience with that dragon."
Hiss~
Accompanying a hissing sound, a giant claw, seemingly reaching towards the sky, emerged from the widest of the fissures. The sight of the collapsing, Shattered mountains beneath the claw immediately silenced the brewing conspiracy theories among the elves.
"What on earth is that?"
Upon seeing the massive claw resembling that of an arthropod, a legendary female elf couldn't help but exclaim. As a bonafide legend, she naturally wouldn't fear arthropods like spiders or scorpions.
But the claw in front of her was simply too enormous; each segment nearly a hundred meters long. The immense structural impact of the entire limb left every elf who witnessed it stunned.
"It's a Giant Beast from the ancient times!"
Ultimately, the Elf Clan, with its long-standing heritage, quickly recognized what kind of monster this partially revealed limb belonged to.
"Why would such a creature awaken? The world isn't experiencing any terrifying disaster right now."
"Who knows what's going on?"
Rumble—
The second and third claws emerged, bearing the marks of the ages, appearing ancient and primitive, like the fossilized limbs of a giant beast extending from the underground. The earth began to sink in large sections, mountains crumbled, and rivers changed course.
The Sea of Forest, reminiscent of the Goddess's gown, was quickly thrown into upheaval, with large patches of black earth being unearthed from below. The Green Sea was in utter disarray, and all this was merely due to an ancient being awakening from its long slumber. It hadn't even taken any aggressive actions, yet the Elven Court had already suffered significant losses.
"Should we do something?"
Seeing one Elven village after another destroyed in the precursor to the Giant Beast's awakening, with cities also collapsing, an Elven Legend could no longer hold back, stirred by the flicker of responsibility within.
"Do what? Stop the Giant Beast from awakening? Don't be ridiculous!"
"Are we just supposed to watch helplessly?"
"If you want a straightforward answer, then yes, we have no choice but to watch."
A midst the powerless and sorrowful gazes of many elves, their homeland was entirely engulfed by the ever-shifting earth, while what angered them the most was that the High Elves, those who were supposed to protect them, merely observed from the sky without taking any action.
Hiss~
Eventually, a massive beast, shaped like a giant spider but with enormous limbs covered in a heavy chitinous shell, crawled out from the collapsed underground cave.
As it walked upon the earth, its head easily pierced into the clouds, with the flowing sea of clouds swirling around its massive body.
It was a profoundly shocking scene, yet for those witnessing the movement of this giant beast, its presence signified not just awe, but disaster.
Because where the beast tread, only destruction followed. Even creatures not directly touched suffered, as the beast's claws caused minor earthquakes with every lift and fall.
The continuous earthquakes spelled doom for the surrounding ecosystem and structures along the beast's path.
"This Ancient Giant Beast is heading East!"
"Why East? What's there? Quickly, trace its route! Where's its ultimate destination?"
"That's the Holy Dragon Noah's place of sacrifice to the Heavens!"
"What?!"
"So it is indeed the dragon causing this disaster!"
"And what if it is? What can you do?"
"Is it really? How can he possess the power to do this?"
"It's an Ancient Giant Beast!"
So the elves, rich in history and understanding the significance of the current events, fell silent. The more they knew, the deeper their fear grew.
Because even with thousands of years of heritage, they couldn't comprehend to what extent one would need to exert influence over an Ancient Giant Beast. This is the essence of the world ensuring its own existence.
While the elves were in a state of panic and confusion in Xilantia, in the deepest part of the Polar Glacier, within the ancient ice layers that hadn't melted for eons, there also emerged a long and sharp tail, tearing through the glacier continent.
Roar — Howl ——
A White Dragon, over fifty-three meters long, already reaching the age limit of the ancients, fled in panic from the ice city. Even though this was the Dragon Nest he had cultivated for nearly four hundred years, he chose to abandon it in the face of the sudden crisis.
However, in comparison to the giant beast awakening in Central Earth, the creature emerging from the Polar Glacier was far more terrifying, for that sharp tail pierced through the Ancient Dragon's body just as the White Dragon lifted off, dragging it into the abyss. In the helpless wails of the White Dragon, its cries were drowned out by the chilling sound of chewing, which sent a petrifying chill through many ice-creatures around.
The screams lasted only briefly before being silenced, followed by a fearsome ice storm sweeping forth from the cracked icy gorge, as an immense, indistinct entity rose from the storm, ascending into the skies.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In the eastern seas near the Xilantia Continent, an endless chain of underwater volcanoes began erupting in unison, with thick smoke rolling up from the boiling sea, spiraling towards the sky and turning it a grim dark gray.
In this eruption that threatened to reshape the ecosystem of this expanse of sea, a Giant Beast awakened from its long slumber, slowly stretching its body, or perhaps, it was this very action that triggered the volcanic eruptions.
Countless Sea Clan members fled for their lives, for should they delay, they would be boiled alive by the scalding sea, as this stretch of sea turned into a desolate zone. A crimson Giant Beast climbed from the Molten Lava Sea, beginning its ascent to the surface.
And its objective mirrored those of the two Giant Beasts of Central Earth and the Northern Polar Glacier, for they had all heard the same summons.
Yet this was not the end. In the very heartland of the Atlas Kingdom's core, a once empty sky gradually revealed the landscapes of towering mountains and valleys, initially appearing as mere illusions.
But as this seemingly ethereal scene became clearer, with giant birds spreading wings of dozens of meters fleeing in haste, people easily recognized this as a Secret Realm hidden in the sky.
Only, the performance of the powerful creatures nurtured within this Secret Realm made it hard for anyone to feel at ease, prompting a continuous exodus of ferocious birds capable of dominating any wild sky.
Not just the winged creatures, even the ground-dwellers arrived at the edge of the Secret Realm, and after a brief hesitation, they too leapt to their deaths with reckless abandon.
