Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 854 473: Netherworld King Awakens, Extinction at the End_2

Chapter 854

Although they had heard that their commander's offspring had issues, from their personal experience now, their commander's child, apart from having a few too many wings and a slightly off color, seemed otherwise normal.
"Eight-winged Angel, what does that signify?"
"Does it signify a Demigod?"
"A truly powerful talent, worthy of being the offspring of His Excellency, Iliad."
The angels showed immense welcome and enthusiasm towards the arrival of Hades, whereas the dragon-men were not particularly fond of this descendant of the Holy Dragon.
Because his Dragon Species features were just too minimal; aside from a few Dragon Scale ornaments visible on his cheeks and a pair of small Dragon Horns on his forehead, he had no other Dragon Species traits.
What kind of Holy Dragon descendant was this? Any dragon-man present here, based on appearance, seemed more qualified to call themselves inheritors of the Holy Dragon Bloodline than this Holy Dragon's grandson.
Though Hades had been isolated from an early age and had little interaction with other beings, he could keenly perceive the difference in attitude from the angels and dragon-men towards him, as it was all too obvious.
Iliad and Hela, although they noticed the problem, had no better solutions. Iliad knew well that the Dragon-man Army followed him mainly because he was the Holy Dragon's eldest son.
His Angel Legion followed him for similar reasons, even though they were subdued by his force, the more critical reason was the noble Blazing Sky God bloodline flowing in his veins.
"Dad, I want to see the Insect Nest."
Not long after settling in the Floating City, Hades proactively made this request to his father.
It was a preparation extending over ten years for this very moment, for which Iliad condensed his Divinity, then picked up his offspring, and descended from the Immortal City suspended in the Sky Dome.
The Insect Nest World was the most challenging conquest Iliad faced since embarking on the path of planar expedition. The difficulty lay not in how terrifying the creatures of the Insect Nest World were.
If it were just about being populated with strong individuals, it wouldn't be so tricky; Iliad could deal with them. But the Insect Nest World's uniqueness was that almost every insect in this world could be mobilized for battle.
Even the insects meant for production could temporarily transform into combat types. The critical factor was the terrifying efficiency with which the Insect Nests, controlled by the mother insects, converted materials and energy into troops, with extremely fast production speeds.
Under such compounded factors, Iliad was unable to fully conquer the Mother Nest World, even after repeatedly clearing the surface. Yet, waves of insects continued to surge forth from underground.
The pace of slaughter and destruction couldn't keep up with the speed at which the mother insects hatched their eggs underground. However, this situation might see a reverse today.
When the future Netherworld King ventured underground, deep into the dark abyss of the Insect Nest, the Death Domain that had long been suppressed was unleashed upon permission.
Smashingly—smashingly—
To withstand the brutal kill or be killed combat, the warrior bugs with sharp foreclaws and thick chitinous shells quieted instantly as the Death Domain spread, falling into eternal silence.
Holding Hades, Iliad coldly scanned the giant insects fallen before him, leapt over them, and as a light breeze rose with his passage, these insects that once resisted the angels' and dragon-men's assaults crumbled to dust like eroded stones from millennia past.
This was an exceedingly terrifying scene. The giant insects, which once rampaged like war machines through underground tunnels, were drained wholly upon entering Hades' Death Domain, leaving nothing behind.
The horror of the scene made Iliad's expression subtly shift, but his steps didn't pause, even as countless giant insects with ebony shells surged from all directions like a tide under the mother insects' command.
Yet any of these giant insects breaching into Hades' domain were immediately deprived of life, falling without any ability to struggle, and once dead, their leftover carapaces became frighteningly fragile, collapsing to powder at the slightest contact by incoming insects.
But that's all there was. No insect that touched Hades' Death Domain lasted beyond a breath, perishing instantly.
Compared to when Hela was pregnant and Iliad, who had yet to condense his divinity, insisted on staying by her side, the fate of these insects was even more miserable because the couple's essence of life was so high that the death decree had no effect on them.
The power of death Hades wielded only manifested its weakest effect on his father and mother. To this day, after Iliad had condensed his divinity, he could directly ignore it.
And what do these insects have? Their sole advantage lies in immense numbers, coupled with bewildering reproduction speed, all while maintaining a certain combat capability.
With such racial advantages and native geographic conditions, these insects held Iliad's Expeditionary Army at bay, but today, that will all end.
Wherever Iliad carried his son, all life was extinguished, leaving only dilapidated remnants. In the Underground Insect Nest Kingdom, only mother insects capable of simultaneously nurturing thousands of eggs could momentarily withstand Hades' Death Domain.
But under Iliad's oppression, these mother insects had no chance to escape and were firmly suppressed, then had all life origin taken away by Hades' Death Domain, ultimately reduced to a shriveled husk.
"How does it feel?"
After clearing an underground insect nest with Hades, Iliad looked at his offspring whose eyes were already glowing dimly.
After consuming the lives of millions of insects, though most of these insects didn't have high vitality quality, the sheer number led to a qualitative change, or at least Hades had undergone significant changes.
Not only did his state improve, making him more engaged and lively, but Iliad noticed on Hades' back that the feathers, originally mostly grey-white, had some dark, black-tinted feathers emerging at the wingtips, exuding a chilling, foreboding aura.
"I feel great now!"
Upon hearing his father's inquiry, Hades nodded vigorously, feeling the response wasn't adequate and added,
"I've never felt so comfortable."
"Would you like to continue?"
"Mm-hmm!"
The child, still with a face of baby fat, nodded vigorously, yet beneath the child's voice lay the demise of billions of insects.
For the natives of the Insect Nest World, this was a horrifying massacre that increasingly escalated, wiping out one Insect Nest Kingdom after another, where even the once revered mother insects were stripped of everything, leaving only shriveled husks.
However, due to the sacrifice and loss of these insect races, the anomaly in Hades became more pronounced, as grey-white feathers continuously transformed into dark feathers, a chilling and apocalyptic presence gradually apparent on Hades.
"Daddy, I still want more!"
After clearing close to a hundred mother nests, Iliad finally paused with his ever heavier offspring in his arms.
Because he could feel that his child, after ingesting countless insect lives, was undergoing a fierce and terrifying metamorphosis, his wings almost turning completely black.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Iliad was suppressing his body's instinct with rationality. If his reason did not intervene, he would surely throw Hades out boldly.
Even though he was mentally prepared, the child's transformation was exceedingly terrifying.
