Has Big Shot Fallen in Love Today?-Chapter 669: Avoiding a Meeting

Chapter 669

Chapter 669: Chapter 669: Avoiding a Meeting
Over the years, Sheng Tang’s closest friend was likely Zhou Yu.
She got along well with her roommate Hu Xiang’er, but they weren’t really close. Hu Xiang’er seemed carefree, but she was very secretive about her own affairs.
Her former friend Jiang Baocu got into a university in Beijing. At first, they contacted each other every day, but after Jiang Baocu broke up with her boyfriend, she seemed a bit affected.
At that time, Sheng Tang wasn’t by her side, and was struggling herself, while Jiang Baocu made new friends.
Gradually, the contact dwindled to once a week, then once a month, and later they only called each other when something significant was posted on social media.
Last year, Jiang Baocu went abroad for her graduate studies and got a new boyfriend, leading to a fulfilling life, which further reduced their interaction.
The only one who kept in regular contact was Zhou Yu.
Sheng Tang lost Gu Shiting, and Zhou Yu lost Qin Lin. They often hung out together.
Zhou Yu had always played basketball, and in his junior year, he was scouted by a basketball club, signed a contract, and became a professional player.
He progressed quickly. When Sheng Tang called him in July last year, he told her that he had become the club’s small forward and a basketball star.
He always reserved tickets for Sheng Tang for every game.
His club was based in the city, but occasionally they traveled for matches. He always informed Sheng Tang of his departures and returns.
This gave Sheng Tang something to care about.
These were the habits Zhou Yu developed during Sheng Tang’s sophomore year.
During Sheng Tang’s freshman year, her grandmother passed away, Gu Shiting left, and her mother went crazy. Her life was a mess.
By the second semester, she started suffering from insomnia and persistent low mood.
She had to study hard and maintain social interactions, appearing normal to others.
Once, Zhou Yu asked her to play basketball, just the two of them, and Sheng Tang suddenly broke down, crying her heart out.
Zhou Yu gently patted her back, sat beside her, and said, "I’ll go with you to see a doctor. Maybe you’re depressed, Sheng Tang."
Sheng Tang shook her head, pretending to be fine.
During the summer vacation, she found a simple job but still felt worse because she had to stay at home.
Not long after school started, Sheng Tang sought out Zhou Yu because she started losing her hair and sleep had become a luxury, suffering from insomnia night after night.
Zhou Yu accompanied her to see a doctor, and Sheng Tang was diagnosed with moderate depression.
From then on, Sheng Tang began to pay attention to her health; while Zhou Yu always felt she was missing something, thus he frequently updated her on his whereabouts.
He didn’t expect to help Sheng Tang; he just tied a string to her. When she lost control, he would pull it to bring her back.
Over the years, she kept close contact with Zhou Yu, though he was busy with training and matches, so they rarely saw each other.
On the first afternoon of the New Year, after Sheng Tang and they returned, Zhou Yu came to extend New Year greetings.
Sheng Zong liked basketball and admired Zhou Yu.
Zhou Yu specially came to greet them and handed tickets to Sheng Tang: "Uncle and Auntie, you should go watch."
Professor Sheng smiled and said, "We might be busy; we’ve made plans with friends the day after tomorrow."
"Then another time," Zhou Yu replied.
When Gu Jiahui arrived, Sheng Tang’s parents and brother weren’t home; they had gone to visit Senior Brother Dazhou.
Senior Brother Dazhou got married the year before and had a daughter last November.
With the child still young and the weather cold during the New Year, Professor Sheng told the couple not to come over and instead they visited them.
"...Sorry, they waited for a while but got urged from there," Sheng Tang said, "My parents went to see their granddaughter."
Senior Brother Dazhou and Senior Brother Xiao Zhou seemed like another set of children to Professor Sheng; they grew up without parents, receiving Professor Sheng’s support for schooling, and treated him as family.
Gu Jiahui listened, his expression unchanged.
He quietly surveyed Sheng Tang’s home: "No problem."
"Why don’t you stay for dinner and wait for them to come back," Sheng Tang suggested, "But I would still be the one accompanying you for dinner."
Gu Jiahui held her hand.
"Let’s go out for a walk. I know you don’t want me to meet your parents, and I’m just here for a short visit," Gu Jiahui said, "Stop pretending."
Sheng Tang laughed.
She examined him: "Not angry, right?"
Gu Jiahui narrowed his eyes slightly, a smile on his lips: "Made a lot of money, nothing worth getting angry about."
