Chapter 307: Juniors Request Battlefield Supervision
The area in front of the Demon Gate was tense.
Rynar and Rynor stood side by side, backs straight, flames and lightning faintly flickering around their bodies.
Clara lounged a few steps ahead of them, hands behind her head, looking far too relaxed for someone guarding a gate that could spill out endless demonic beasts.
Behind them, Eldrin hovered in the air, while Silvar stood firmly on the ground.
Bastor and Varyn remained silent, their massive presence anchoring the area.
Cindor watched from above, wings folded, eyes sharp.
Clara glanced back and grinned. "Alright, you ancient beasts can take a breather."
Rynor laughed. "Yeah. You guys already fired off your big flashy move earlier."
Rynar cracked his neck. "Let the juniors handle cleanup."
Silvar’s eyes narrowed. "We are the Four Legendary Beasts."
His voice was cold. "Leaving the battlefield to humans is not logical."
Clara turned her head slowly and stared at him. "Just shut up and watch."
Silvar bristled. "You..."
Clara waved a hand. "Don’t underestimate us."
She pointed at herself and the twins. "We’re disciples of the God Gym."
Rynor smirked. "You can underestimate other humans."
Rynar added bluntly, "But not us."
Eldrin hesitated, clearly conflicted, but before he could speak, Cindor descended slightly and landed nearby.
"Let them," Cindor said calmly.
Silvar looked at him. "You agree?"
Cindor nodded.
"If their master can overwhelm all of us alone, then his disciples should be capable of handling demonic beasts."
Clara grinned wider. "See? Bird gets it."
She stepped forward and stretched her arms. "I’ll show you how strong I am."
The ground trembled.
Dark shapes began to emerge from cracks in the land.
One by one, demonic beasts crawled out.
Some were twisted wolves with extra limbs.
Others were hulking figures covered in jagged armor-like flesh.
Their eyes glowed red as they roared and charged forward.
"Here they come," Rynor said eagerly.
Rynar’s flames flared. "Finally."
The demonic beasts rushed straight toward the group.
Then something strange happened.
The beasts suddenly swerved.
One smashed straight into a boulder.
Another leapt at a tree and tore it apart.
A third slammed into empty air, roaring in confusion.
The twins blinked.
"...What?" Rynor muttered.
Rynar frowned. "They missed?"
Eldrin’s eyes widened slightly. "They’ve already entered an illusion."
Clara smirked, eyes glowing faintly. "Of course."
She snapped her fingers, creating a field of illusions around them.
The air shimmered briefly, almost unnoticeably.
To the demons, the battlefield had completely changed.
Enemies stood where rocks were. Open ground became solid walls. Allies became targets.
The demonic beasts roared and attacked wildly, tearing into trees, smashing rocks, and clawing at empty space.
Rynor laughed loudly. "They’re hitting everything except us!"
Rynar cracked his knuckles. "Our turn."
Lightning surged around Rynor.
Flames exploded around Rynar.
[Twin Resonance]
Thunder and fire mixed, wrapping around both of them as their auras merged into one.
"Finish them," Clara said lazily, stepping aside.
The twins moved at the same time.
Rynor vanished in a flash of lightning, appearing behind a beast and smashing it into the ground.
Rynar followed with a flaming kick that split another beast in half.
"Too slow!" Rynor shouted.
"Too weak," Rynar added.
One demonic beast tried to escape the illusion, stumbling blindly.
Clara flicked her wrist.
The illusion tightened.
The beast froze, screaming in confusion.
The twins struck together, thunder and flame crashing down in perfect sync.
Silence followed.
The battlefield was cleared.
Clara dusted off her hands and looked back at the legendary beasts. "Told you."
Eldrin exhaled slowly. "...Impressive."
Silvar said nothing, but his gaze lingered on the humans longer than before.
Cindor smiled faintly. "As expected from his disciples."
Before anyone could respond, the air twisted again.
A ripple spread across the space near the Demon Gate, heavier and sharper than before.
Something else was coming.
"...Huh?" Clara muttered, her playful smile fading just a bit.
Figures stepped out of the distortion.
They were humanoid but clearly not human.
One had deep red skin and curved horns.
Another had dark blue skin with veins glowing faintly beneath it.
Some had wings folded against their backs.
Others had claws instead of hands or tails swaying behind them.
The atmosphere shifted instantly.
Eldrin’s expression hardened. "Demons."
Clara blinked. "Wait. Actual demons?"
Eldrin nodded. "Yes."
He stared at them carefully. "When the Demon Gate first appeared long ago, some demons crossed over."
The twins straightened.
Rynor frowned. "So not only are there demonic beasts, but there are also demons."
"Yes," Eldrin said quietly. "They are beings from the other side. Back then, they were stronger than humans."
Clara crossed her arms. "That’s why you sealed the gate."
"Yes," Eldrin replied. "If we hadn’t, the human world would have been overwhelmed."
Clara looked at the demons again, eyes sharp.
"So not only does demonic mana corrupt beasts, but actual beings can come through too."
She tilted her head. "But how did they appear here without using the gate directly?"
Eldrin shook his head. "I don’t know the exact reason."
After a pause, he added, "But I heard them say once that when entering the Demon Gate, you are usually teleported to a random location on the other side."
Clara nodded slowly. "So they could pop up anywhere."
She smiled again, confidence returning. "I see."
One of the demons stepped forward, sniffing the air.
"This place," the demon said, voice rough. "Is this the human world?"
Another demon laughed lowly. "And look. Humans."
Its eyes slid toward Eldrin and the others. "And beasts that aren’t corrupted."
The demon licked its lips. "Their taste must be incredible."
Rynor’s expression darkened. "They said taste."
Rynar cracked his knuckles, flames flickering. "So they want to eat us."
Clara sighed dramatically. "Rude."
She narrowed her eyes. "Also, they noticed the illusion."
One of the demons raised its hand and slammed it down.
Dark energy spread outward.
[Demonic Shatter]
The illusion field around the area trembled and collapsed, revealing the real terrain beneath.
Clara whistled softly. "Interesting."
She looked impressed rather than upset. "To think they managed to break my illusion field."
Silvar shifted his stance slightly, ready to move.
Cindor’s wings twitched. "Do you want us to step in?"
Clara shook her head. "Nope."
She glanced at the twins. "You heard them. They want to taste us."
Rynor grinned. "Guess we’ll disappoint them."
Rynar smirked. "Badly."
Clara pointed forward. "Twins, kill them all."
She tilted her head, eyes gleaming. "Let’s see how strong demons really are."
The demons laughed.
"Humans think they can fight us?"
"Kill them first."
"Leave the beasts for later."
Lightning sparked around Rynor.
Flames surged around Rynar.
[Twin Resonance]
Thunder and fire fused, their auras overlapping perfectly.
Rynor rolled his neck. "Alright."
Rynar leaned forward slightly. "Let’s educate them."
