Horror Game Designer-Chapter 641: Inescapable

So my mother was always at home. Her corpse was under the bed. When the door opened and when I sat at my table to do my homework, her corpse was looking at me.
No. Perhaps she was still alive back then. She looked at me pleadingly. Or maybe she was in great pain but she didn’t dare to make any sound. Maybe the killer was beside her, placing a knife on her neck. As they harmed her, they threatened her. If she dared to make a sound, they would kill me.
Tang Hanlu’s brain was about to explode. Endless scary thoughts surged into her mind.
“However, if the killer is under the bed, what is going on with the police outside the house?” Tang Hanlu gripped her phone until her fingers were red from pain. She recovered a bit of rationality. “The bad guy is outside, disguising himself as an officer. Is he the man I encountered when I came home? There shouldn’t be a killer at home unless there’s more than one killer. However, he doesn’t have a reason to make Mom hide under her bed.”
Tang Hanlu turned to the main bedroom. Two thoughts collided. She felt like the killer should be outside her door, but she was also worried that the killer was a pervert who purposely came after young girls and was hiding under the bed to wait for her to come home.
“When I was doing my homework, my back was open. If the killer were at home, he had many chances to ambush me… So my home should be safe!” Tang Hanlu encouraged herself. She picked up the mop. Afraid that her slippers might make too much sound, she walked to the main bedroom door barefooted. Tang Hanlu grabbed the door handle. She had made the decision. As she opened the door, she bent down to look under the bed. Her heart pounded. The space under the bed was dark. There was no corpse and killer. There was merely a ringing phone stuck in the corner.
“Did Mom forget her phone?”
Tang Hanlu was drained from the fright. She walked over and picked up the phone.
“An unknown number? Who is calling Mom? Is Mom using her colleague’s phone to tell me something?” With anticipation, Tang Hanlu placed the phone beside her ear and pressed the accept call button. After the call was connected, there was only a deathly silence. Tang Hanlu said a few hellos. An unfamiliar male voice eventually appeared through the static.
“I have been watching you.”
The words tumbled out one by one. Tang Hanlu quickly hung up before the man could say anything else. She tossed the phone onto the bed.
“Who is watching me? Who is he? Why does he know Mom’s number?” Tang Hanlu was scared. She didn’t dare to stay in the main bedroom anymore. She glanced at the curtain, the dresser and the table. She felt like the man could be hiding in all of them.
“Why aren’t the police here?” Tang Hanlu rushed out of the main bedroom and called the police again. The voice of the handler calmed her down. She was told that the police had departed and would reach her place soon.
Coincidentally, footsteps came from the corridor at that moment. There was the sound of fighting. Tang Hanlu couldn’t hear it clearly inside the home. Someone slammed heavily on the inner door. A man yelled, “How dare you call the police? You can’t escape! After the police are gone, I’ll come back to kill you!”
The footsteps became chaotic. The man outside the door probably saw the police through the corridor window. He escaped into the elevator. Tang Hanlu didn’t fall for the trick. She ran to the balcony. She knelt beside the railing and looked down. Soon, Tang Hanlu saw a figure in a ruffled police uniform run out of the corridor. However, he didn’t leave the neighbourhood. He merely went hiding in the second unit.
“He entered the building next door! He didn’t leave!” Tang Hanlu felt danger looking at her neighbour’s balcony. She closed the window. “Wait for the police. They are almost here!”
Tang Hanlu bit her nails out of nervousness. She knelt on the floor of the balcony. A few minutes later, she heard a familiar knocking.
It was not her heartbeat. It did not come from the front door. Tang Hanlu spun around. She turned and realised there was someone standing on the balcony of the second-unit neighbour’s home. The person wore a wrinkly police uniform. He was tall. His face was hidden in the dark. His fingers tapped on the window lightly.
“He is next door!”
Her heart skipped a beat. She forgot how to breathe, and her mind was blank.
The neighbour’s window opened. In the dark, a wooden plank reached towards Tang Hanlu’s balcony. Her home was on a high floor. The balcony had no security net. The beautiful decoration on the outer wall became purchases for the killer to climb over.
“He’s coming!” The fake officer held the knife. He came closer to her home!
“The killer is between the buildings. If I run down now, I should be faster than him! The key is still missing! It’s not safe to stay home! I need to leave to find help!”
Tang Hanlu stopped hesitating. Fear shattered her rationality. She grabbed her phone, skipped her shoes and ran to the front door.
The sound of glass shattering came from behind her. She turned the door lock clumsily. At the critical moment, she ran out. She ignored the elevator and ran into the stairwell.
The wooden safety door opened. Tang Hanlu heard someone munching. She borrowed the green light from the fire signal and saw a woman in red covered in thorny flowers standing in the corner!
The woman slowly turned around as her face expanded!
“My child! My child!”
Tang Hanlu screamed. Something melted in her brain. She believed she heard a man’s voice.
“No. 2 is not in the first layer nightmare. But the many layers of protection prove that she’s hiding something. I need to keep pushing… Dream Release…”

Tang Hanlu shivered. She realised she had fallen asleep at her table.
She massaged her numb arms. She realised her forehead was covered in a cold sweat.
“It was just a nightmare. It felt so real.”
Tang Hanlu took out her phone. The screen showed that it was 11 pm.
“Is Mom still not home?”
The memory of the dream frightened Tang Hanlu. She turned to look at the dark living room. She shook her head to banish the horrifying thoughts. She took out her phone. She needed to know when her mom was coming home. She desperately needed her family.
Tang Hanlu placed the phone beside her ear with anticipation. However, the familiar ringtone came out of the main bedroom.
