Human Genius? Sorry, I’m a Deviant-Chapter 39: Alive or Dead, We Must See the Body

Chapter 39

"Me again?"
Liu Ziming had just helped the elderly woman out of the cabin when he heard the call. He groaned but immediately rushed over. "Ma'am? Can you hear me?"
The female passenger showed no response, a gruesome wound visible on her forehead.
Gritting his teeth, Liu Ziming carried her on his back.
"Hurry up!"
Xie Xi urged from the cabin door. "The smell of fuel leakage is getting stronger! Xu Hao, there's a pregnant woman trapped on the right side of first class!"
"Got it!"
Xu Hao's figure blurred momentarily.
After two flashes,
he appeared directly beside the pregnant woman twenty meters away.
S-ranked Life Soul - Teleportation.
At Dew Realm, he could now teleport with others.
His ability reached its peak efficiency in confined spaces,
dramatically improving rescue speed.
"Ma'am, can you hear me?"
Feng Jue patted an elderly man's cheek, but received no response.
"Too many unconscious people."
Liu Ziming ran over carrying a bloodied little girl. "This damn plane spun like a fucking washing machine - even those who didn't vomit got knocked out!"
Su Zhan, supporting the weakened Wang Mingyuan against the cabin wall, immediately shouted: "Slap them! Hard!"
"What?"
Liu Ziming's eyes widened. "That doesn't seem right..."
"Do it if you want to live!"
Su Zhan barked. "Unconscious people can't escape on their own!"
Without hesitation, Xie Xi swung her palm across a nearby unconscious passenger's face.
The man woke up coughing violently, touching his face in confusion. "D-did I lose a tooth?"
"It works!"
Feng Jue announced while already slapping an old man awake.
Soon, slapping sounds echoed throughout the cabin.
The businessman who had earlier questioned Su Zhan's group suddenly jumped up after being slapped awake. "Who hit me?!"
"Your savior."
Liu Ziming grinned. "Now please queue up..."
Queuing made perfect sense.
With limited cabin space, disorder would cause congestion and severely hinder evacuation.
Moreover, the plane remained unstable.
Cutting open the fuselage risked explosion - certain death for everyone aboard.
"Get out of my way!"
Realizing what had happened, the businessman shoved through the crowd. "Let me out first!"
Swish!
Xie Xi's Scythe of Destruction pressed against his throat, the blade tip half an inch from his artery. "One more step and you stay here forever."
Sweat beaded on the businessman's forehead, but he bluffed: "Do you know who I am?"
Smack!
"I don't give a fuck who you are."
Xie Xi's backhand sent him spinning, two bloodied teeth flying out.
Clutching his swollen face, the businessman trembled his way to the queue's end.
Other passengers immediately fell in line.
"Smart choice."
Liu Ziming whistled. "Xu Hao, is the left aisle clear?"
Silver flashes later, Xu Hao appeared holding the last two unconscious passengers. "Clear!"
"Good."
As Liu Ziming moved, the plane suddenly tilted violently, fuel odor intensifying.
"No time left!"
Su Zhan roared. "Everyone evacuate now!"
Xu Hao vanished instantly.
Three seconds later, he reappeared carrying a foaming-at-the-mouth flight attendant, a stiff corpse tucked under his arm - apparently the captain killed by Aberrants in the cockpit.
Su Zhan recalled the captain mentioning this was his final flight before retirement during takeoff.
Note to self: never casually jinx things.
Half a minute after the last person escaped,
the entire plane erupted into a fireball.
The shockwave flattened everything within hundred meters, illuminating every survivor's face.
The businessman sat dumbstruck before the burning wreckage.
Xie Xi rested her scythe against his neck. "Now, care to introduce yourself?"
The man shook his head frantically, all arrogance gone.
A dark stain spread across his pants.
Su Zhan shook his head.
Challenging Xie Xi's background? You'd better be at Vermilion Bird Academy vice-principal level.
Otherwise... well, suicidal.
Surveying the scene,
Su Zhan counted heads.
They'd saved everyone possible.
But casualties were inevitable.
The plane's violent maneuvers and near-vertical dive had claimed those unlucky enough.
They were Awakened, not gods.
Even top-tier Awakened couldn't resurrect the dead.
Surprisingly,
Xu Hao's unique Life Soul enabled him to rescue more than everyone else combined.
He'd even retrieved the dead.
Alive or dead, we must see the body.
This ancient Daxia creed ran deep.
Without remains, how could loved ones confirm their loss?
Where would they direct their mourning?
Xu Hao clearly understood.
He'd repeatedly dashed into the doomed plane to retrieve cold corpses.
Not futile - but closure for the living, rest for the dead.
Su Zhan recalled their last Mist incident.
Back then, the four had known each other at most five days, some less than one.
Yet Xu Hao never abandoned anyone.
Could he do the same?
No.
But he deeply respected such people.
Turning, Su Zhan patted Xu Hao's shoulder. "We owe you this time."
Soft-spoken, but audible to nearby companions.
Xu Hao's trembling legs betrayed his exhaustion, yet he smiled. "Just doing my part."
"Your part?"
Liu Ziming grabbed Xu Hao in a headlock, ruffling his hair. "You were fucking heroic today!"
Xu Hao coughed. "L-let go."
"Impressive."
Xie Xi's lips quirked. "Unlike certain loudmouths."
"Hey!"
Liu Ziming protested. "I saved several too!"
Feng Jue silently approached and gave Xu Hao's shoulder a firm pat -
the highest praise from this man of few words.
Wang Mingyuan leaned weakly against a tree, nodding approvingly. "Well done, Xu Hao."
Now,
Xu Hao's modest 160cm frame seemed towering.
This small body housed immense strength.
Nearby, the plane burned.
Survivors collapsed at a safe distance, emotions overflowing.
"My baby... my baby's alive!"
A mother clutched her rescued son, face streaked with tears.
