I Have a Date with a Thousand-year-old Female Corpse-Chapter 1862 - 1863: Ruthless

Chapter 1862

Chapter 1862: Chapter 1863: Ruthless
Parting the rushes, your sight, sharper than most, fell upon the Lake Heart Island ahead. The Lake Heart Island before you now was completely different from what it once was; if it was merely a small village when you left, it has now transformed into a military fortress. Four strategic islets around the Lake Heart Island were fortified, interlocking to form an impregnable bastion.
On the Lake Heart Island, the former wooden dwellings had vanished, replaced by sturdy stone fortresses, and around the entire periphery of the Lake Heart Island stood stone walls about five meters high, with a watchtower integrated. On the walls and watchtower, numerous archers were stationed.
Your eyes quickly recognized several familiar figures on the watchtower, most notably Zhen Luo, who stirred your heart.
At that moment, Zhen Luo stood facing the wind, discussing something with Lü Dai and pointing to a location behind them. With her back to you, she hadn’t seen you yet.
Though unable to see Zhen Luo’s face, she seemed like a goddess, her graceful silhouette evoking endless longing.
You did not call out loudly but stood at the bow of the boat, smiling in the wind.
Many on Lake Heart Island had seen you before, and the gratitude for their unpredictable lord was tempered by awe. As a result, some soldiers dropped to their knees as soon as they spotted you from dozens of meters away, shouting, "Salutations to the Lord!"
"Hmm!?" Hearing the soldiers’ exclamations, Zhen Luo turned sharply, her stunning face breaking into a genuine mix of surprise and joy upon recognizing you. She rushed down the watchtower, ignoring the support of her maid and her composure as the mistress, running toward you with her long dress in tow.
"My husband!"
That single call in the wind awakened the softest feelings deep within your heart.
Even with the distance of several meters of water between you and Zhen Luo, you leapt high in a graceful arc, amidst the crowd’s gaze, swiftly embracing the running Zhen Luo, holding her tightly.
"Husband, during this time, where on earth did you go, leaving us sisters so worried." Zhen Luo nestled in your arms, gently pounding your solid chest with her jade-like hand.
Just as you were about to speak, a comely maid rushed over hastily.
"Mistress, that person is upset again and insists that Mistress come now."
"Which one?" Your brow twitched, and an aura of intimidating terror emanated from you, causing the maid to cower on the ground in fear.
The maid’s words touched a nerve; in your world, you were the sky. How dare anyone demand that your woman do anything?
"Husband, don’t you know?" Zhen Luo pointed to the sky with her finger of jade.
Momentarily stunned, you laughed heartily toward the heavens, yet your laughter carried an inexplicably chilling sense of threat.
"If that’s the case, take me to see."
Feeling the terrifying aura emanate from you, Zhen Luo was not at all afraid. Instead, a sweet feeling arose within her. After all, that person was once the Emperor, a primary cornerstone for your future grand endeavors. Yet now, he was a source of hidden anger because of you, showing that you held a vital place in your heart.
You said nothing along the way, even as Lü Dai hurried over with a small group. Lü Dai initially intended to on the current state of Lake Heart Island, but sensing the intimidating aura emanating from you, Lü Dai and company wisely chose silence, following behind you.
As you walked, you were quite pleased with Lake Heart Island’s development. Lake Heart Island had been transformed into a water fortress, as you initially envisioned, with internal construction comparable to the outside. Along the route, you spotted familiar faces, individuals you once rescued from slavery. Within the population, Lake Heart Island’s internal layout was a grid, subjected to militarized management, effectively making the entire populace combatants, participating in training while maintaining self-sufficiency in production.
After traversing clean streets, your party reached the center of Lake Heart Island, where you once resided. It once was only a temporary wooden cabin but was now a well-constructed palace.
Above the door, four large characters were carved, "Forget-it Palace," with an elegant and powerful hand.
Standing under the door of Forget-it Palace, you pointed to the four characters, asking, "Who wrote these?"
"It was the Inner Minister, Lord Wang," a young man beside Lü Dai replied.
Upon hearing this, you casually remarked, "Bring him over later, have his hands cut off."
At this point, as if recalling something, you turned to Zhen Luo and said, "Luo’er, why don’t you go back and prepare with Jiang’er? I haven’t had lunch yet."
Astute as always, Zhen Luo knew you were dismissing her. She also understood that with your disposition, a bloodier scene would likely follow.
Zhen Luo smiled, nodding, "Mm, Elder sister has mentioned you countless times. I’ll inform her right away!"
Watching Zhen Luo leave with her maid, you placed your hands behind your back and strode inside. Before you entered, as you stepped forcefully, everyone felt the ground tremble; then the plaque above fell, and you stepped on it before entering the palace threshold.
The people behind Lü Dai looked at each other, bewildered by the significance of your actions.
"What are you standing around for? Follow our Lord inside!"
Lü Dai’s shout snapped everyone’s focus back, making them realize that you were indeed their lord, whereas the one inside was whatever you said he was!
Upon entering the main hall of the palace, a group of people rushed out, and you noticed with a frown that these individuals were armed with swords and shields, their expressions fierce. Arranged in a line, they stood ready.
"The Emperor approaches!"
A sharp voice resonated from the rear of the main hall, and soon, Liu Bian, now clearly having gained weight, strutted in with a dozen comely maids in tow, oblivious to all around him.
"Impudence! Do you not kneel upon seeing the Emperor?" A scrawny young man behind Liu Bian screeched, pointing straight at you.
You walked forward without a word, and in front of everyone, slapped Liu Bian on the back of his head, then kicked him off his high seat.
"Outrageous!"
The scrawny man dashed in front of you. As he attempted to point at you, a strong hand restrained him, while Lü Dai’s men easily subdued the armed guards.
"Lü Dai, is this the Lord Wang you mentioned earlier?"
"Yes, my Lord!"
The one holding Lord Wang’s arm was Lü Dai. At this point, if Lü Dai did not act, he would not be able to remain under your command.
"Remember what I said earlier?" You sat down on the meticulously crafted Dragon Throne, slightly closing your eyes.
Lü Dai nodded vigorously. At last, a cruel smile crept across his face, and then a sword unsheathed sound rang out, followed by an ear-piercing scream from Lord Wang echoing within the main hall!
