I Really Didn’t Want to Be a Trainer-Chapter 692: Regigigas VS Primal Groudon!

Chapter 693

I Really Didn’t Want to Be a Trainer-Chapter 692: Regigigas VS Primal Groudon!

Above the sea, a towering golden sandcastle stood, shaped like a gigantic Sandshrew fortress. Mega Tyranitar stood atop the sand fortress, whipping up a ravaging sandstorm. Under the gloomy sky, Regigigas plunged its feet into the seawater, gripping the sky-piercing Precipice Blades;
the crystals on its metallic body kept flashing!
Kala, kala!
The Colossal one's two massive palms crushed the Precipice Blades in half with a thunderous “bang,” chunks of rock flying across the sea as a water column exploded upward!
The sudden turn of events stunned everyone present.
Steven’s gaze flickered as he looked over.
The trainer who had summoned Regigigas and made it obey orders—
Lu Ye, wearing dust-proof goggles, guided Latias to hover aside, leapt onto the sand fortress, and locked eyes with Tyranitar.
Contesting weather with Primal Groudon—the Essence of Earth?
The principle of sandstorms!
He withdrew Tyranitar’s Mega form and concentrated all his psychic power into commanding the towering, Gundam-like Colossal one.
Teacher Lu stood amid the sandstorm and said sternly:
“Regigigas, use Crush Grip!!”
“Ree-gi!!”
Regigigas crushed the Precipice Blades, then hoisted a mountain-lifting fist. As its crystals flashed wildly, the arm slammed down at Primal Groudon with a deafening blow!
“Gigas!!”
Primal Groudon, unable to wrest the weather away, lifted its crimson arm plates to block amid the roaring yellow sand, its eyes briefly flickering with deep apprehension.
With a tremendous crash, the arm hammer slammed down, forcing Primal Groudon to tilt backward.
“Roar!!” Primal Groudon staggered back half a step, its pupils constricting suddenly.
A giant hand—one that had once towed continents—clenched into a fist and, accompanied by gale force wind, charged straight at Regigigas’ face!!
Boom!!!
Steven froze, and the three pillars also stalled as if their circuits had tripped.
Regigigas’ feet were planted in the sea;
the heavy punch it fired with its straight arm dented into Primal Groudon’s flank, sending towering water columns exploding in all directions!
A friendly crushing punch!!
Steven had never imagined that Primal Groudon from the ancient era would be suppressed so single-handedly by the Colossal one.
One reason was that Desolate Land could not provide its usual advantage.
More crucial was that the Colossal one in front of him seemed to have broken its shackles and was running at full power!
“Roar!!”
Primal Groudon shook its head and let out an angry bellow toward the sky. The blazing sun pierced the clouds and roasted the earth!
Under the dazzling sunlight, the seawater on Regigigas’ body began to evaporate at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Lu Ye recalled Tyranitar into the dark ball, stood behind Regigigas on the sand fortress, and tried to get feeling back into legs numb from “riding the red plane for 12 hours straight.”
Desolate Land reasserted itself;
a brutal clash was unavoidable.
“Roar!!”
Primal Groudon opened its huge maw. Bolstered by the sun’s blessing, a raging fireball blossomed and surged forth—Fire Blast!
Lu Ye drew a deep breath and commanded:
“Regigigas, Heavy Impact!!”
“Ree-gi—”
Regigigas planted its legs and began to stride with ponderous might. Thud, thud! The terrifying force truly felt like a charge—each step shaking the sea, making the ocean boil!
Crossing its arms, it forced a defense against Fire Blast. Beneath the towering flames, Regigigas’ crystals flashed a chilling red!
“Gigas!!!”
Primal Groudon’s eyes widened as Regigigas charged from the sea, slow but earth-shattering in power!
Boom!!
Regigigas, stepping on Desolate Land, rammed into Primal Groudon with the strength of its entire body;
both toppled and crashed into the ocean together!
Boom!!
Waters leaped skyward. Primal Groudon stared blankly at the sky as the seawater on its back evaporated into land instantly.
Regigigas rode on Groudon like a hero wrestling a tiger, hoisting that enormous, sunlight-reflecting iron fist high!
“Roar!!” Primal Groudon’s eyes nearly welled up.
Mercy for a brave soul!!
“Ree-gi?” Regigigas cocked its head in confusion.
The three pillars hovering in the sky, watching the whole thing, flashed their crystals and went wild with cheering.
Holy crap, the boss is incredible!!
“It actually… really defeated Primal Groudon…”
Steven muttered in a daze.
At that same moment, another Devon Corporation airship on standby appeared through the clouds and successfully retrieved the Prismatic Meteor.
A battered Primal Groudon watched the meteor fly away from its mouth and felt an overwhelming sadness.
This is too hard for me…
Seeing Primal Groudon unwilling to fight anymore, Regigigas’ joints emitted metallic clicks as it slowly stood up.
The battle between these two colossal beings left everyone present with an indelible shock.
“To command such might in an ancient creature—”
Steven’s pupils contracted sharply, every hair on his body standing on end as he looked toward Teacher Lu on the sand tower.
Steven Stone knew clearly the cost of commanding legendary Pokémon.
That cost was the trainer’s own energy, stamina, psychic power, even life force!
Not to mention, Teacher Lu had been fighting for nearly fourteen straight hours, Mega-evolving twice—anyone would be pushed to the limit!
“Teacher Lu!” Steven suddenly shouted, seeing the dark-haired young man propped on his hands and knees, his face gray!
“Lately when I shout loud, I feel like something’s slipping away from me.”
Lu Ye said bitterly, “That might be life force…”
“Nimi?” Victini tilted its head, then poked Lu Ye’s shoulder with a finger.
A surge of burning energy poured into his body, igniting him, bringing an endless stream of strength!
At the same time, the Rainbow Wing tucked in his shirt pocket scattered glittering motes of life force!
Rainbow Wing: (^_−)☆
I’m no longer freeloading~!
Lu Ye: “Oh oh oh oh oh!! Feeling pumped!”
“Nimi~” Victini spread its hands cutely and sighed.
When hungry, hands go soft;
here’s some Infinite Energy!
Steven let out a breath of relief and then gave a self-deprecating laugh.
After all, this was Teacher Lu, who had faced many legendaries… I was overthinking it!
Lu Ye returned to Latias’ back, looked down at his palm, slowly clenched his fist, and let out a small sigh.
Although his stamina had recovered, the psychic fatigue could not be relieved…
I have to go cuddle Mengmengda and sleep to get better.
“Bangii! (▼へ▼メ)” Inside the dark ball, Tyranitar wore its fierce, aloof face.
After the weather duel with Primal Groudon, Tyranitar had successfully evolved and clarified its future tactical role.
As the desert tyrant, standing within the sandstorm means you do not lose!
The Earth’s Giovanni (×) Sandstorm Lu Ye (√)
“That title actually sounds pretty nice,” Lu Ye joked, “No need to clash with Boss Giovanni anymore!”
“Lati~” Latias tilted her head and glanced at the trainer on her back.
He looked so cool a moment ago, now grinning foolishly again… I have no idea how he trained that kind of nerve!
Primal Groudon rose once more, its expression strange, and stared at the Colossal one.
“Ree-gi…” The Colossal one reached out a giant palm and scratched its head, unsure how to make an exit.
Suddenly, Primal Groudon’s eyes widened and it looked at the Colossal one with excitement.
Could it be—this guy can’t fly either!?
A soulmate—finally, a kindred spirit!
The Colossal one itself didn’t possess flight;
after all, dragging continents relied on strength, not wings. But under the mental coverage from its juniors, the Colossal one could also achieve flight.
Sensing Primal Groudon’s emotion, Teacher Lu didn’t burst that bubble and stroked his chin.
Let Groudon be happy for a bit.
Give it hope now;
when its big scene of despair comes later, it will be that much worse…
“Teacher Lu!” Steven rode over on Metagross and arrived beside Lu Ye. “Are you all right?”
“Oh… I had things before, but now I don’t.”
Lu Ye had little V perched on his shoulder and said calmly:
“I feel like I could command a few more tier-one legendaries no problem!”
Steven: “…”
Suddenly feeling the gap between me and Teacher Lu.
“The Prismatic Meteor has been successfully recovered.” Steven glanced at the empty sky and said earnestly, “The east and west combat plans were a great success… Teacher Lu, please allow me to thank you again!”
“A champion should shoulder more responsibility.”
Lu Ye looked up at the sky with deep eyes. “That’s something I realized when facing Arceus.”
Steven was slightly stunned and had no reply.
In the shadows, Darkrai froze for a moment.
Damn, you pulled that act on me again!

Hoenn region, Mauville Town.
Across the sea, you could see abnormal weather to both the east and the west.
A blazing sun to the west, torrential rain to the east—the anomalous dividing line ran right through Mauville Town.
“Red-senpai, did you—did you see anything?” Ash asked nervously.
Behind her it looked like wings had sprouted—upon closer look, Butterfree was flapping its wings and holding Ash’s small frame.
Teacher Lu would marvel at Ash’s Power of Viridian here. Butterfree, weak yesterday, now gave off the aura of a champion.
Ash’s Power of Viridian could suppress a Pokémon’s strength and, when necessary, trigger a surprise—calling it “playing the fool” would be no exaggeration.
“I just contacted Gold… he said Teacher Lu delayed Groudon’s movement, and then the signal cut out.”
Aerodactyl gripped his shoulder as Red frowned. “We must weaken those two big ones further… without Rayquaza’s help, if they clash, all of Hoenn could be destroyed!”
“Re-Red-senpai!”
Ash’s voice trembled as she tugged Red’s sleeve and pointed. “Look, over there in the sea!”
At the horizon, two towering figures were battling;
the force of it reached Mauville Town kilometers away;
the sea continued to quake!
“Primal Groudon, and—”
Red froze for a moment and said in surprise, “Regigigas? How is it here!”
“It seems to be on our side…”
“Is Steven commanding?” Red said quietly. “Let’s go check!”
Flying not far, Ash widened her eyes: “Standing on that tall tower… it’s Teacher Lu!”
“No doubt.”
Red’s gaze sharpened. “That’s the Tyranitar that just evolved!”
“Regigigas, Heavy Impact!!”
Under Teacher Lu’s command, Regigigas forcefully resisted Fire Blast, marching through the sea like a mountain rumbling forward!
Rumble!
They crashed into the sea, sending towering water columns skyward—Regigigas firmly held the advantage!
Ash stared in a daze: “Teacher Lu… is commanding Regigigas?”
“Suppressing Groudon single-handedly…”
Red murmured under his breath;
under the brim of his cap, the corner of his mouth curved into a smile.
“After all, the Pokédex holder Dr. Oak recognized for command and tactics!”
“With Teacher Lu here, we aren’t needed… let’s go intercept Kyogre.”
Red pushed down his cap and fixed his gaze.
“Make sure those two big ones don’t actually fight!”

Hoenn League, Emergency Response Department.
The excitement had ebbed, leaving the staff with hollowness and confusion on their faces.
Alone, someone had commanded Mega Blastoise to dogfight Primal Kyogre and forced it into check. Then raced to the western battlefield, contended with Desolate Land to wrest the weather, and summoned Regigigas to crush Primal Groudon.
“Can humans really do this…”
In the silent operations room, a researcher muttered blankly.
That seemed to spark discussion, and voices grew noisy.
“This is a champion moment!”
“Too bad Teacher Lu wouldn’t let Rotom go live-stream just now…”
“Thanks for the invite, I’m in Hoenn, just beat up Primal Groudon?”
The tense atmosphere eased;
members joked, but the Hoenn Director remained grave.
Now was not the time to relax…
Compared to Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre’s stamina was clearly richer.
If the fight erupted and the balance between Hoenn’s two gods tipped, the entire region might be swallowed by flood!
“Contact Wallace, Champion.”
The Director gritted his teeth. “If possible, ask him to—”
“Di-Director!”
A researcher blurted nervously:
“Primal Kyogre’s movement stopped… someone’s fighting it. This is a third interception!”
The Hoenn Director startled.
He raised his eyes to the picture of raging floodwaters: Primal Kyogre leapt, wings slicing under the curtain of storm and wind!
Primal Kyogre looked down at the two little figures surfing the waves.
One Pikachu wore a small flower on its forehead. Clasping it was another sharp-eyed Pikachu standing on a surfboard.
“Woo!!”
Primal Kyogre wanted to laugh.
I can’t beat Blastoise, and now I’m supposed to not beat two little tykes?!
“Pika—”
“Chu—”
Red and Ash said at once: “Use Thunder!!”
Thunder—Pikachu couple—Power of Viridian enhanced version!
Primal Kyogre stared blankly upward.
Clouds spiraled like a vortex. At the center, two intertwining lightning bolts formed a thunder pillar, striking down like an apocalyptic heaven. The lightning engulfed the massive Primal Kyogre, and the sea became as bright as day!
Boom!!
Charred and blackened, Primal Kyogre fell into the ocean, belly-up, staring dazedly at the sky.
Are these two Pikachu even legal?
Despicable humans—surely they disguised Mew as Blastoise, and now two Mews appeared!
“Woo!!”
Primal Kyogre dove into the deep sea and fled toward H17 Sea Area as if escaping for its life.
Kyogre: ༼༎ຶᴗ༎ຶ༽
It’s over… I’ll probably get thrashed by Groudon later!
“Red-senpai!” Ash asked nervously. “Do we chase it?”
“No. We can’t let the battlefield balance tip.”
Red watched Kyogre’s departing direction and exhaled.
“From here on, leave it to Teacher Lu!”

H17 Sea Area.
Primal Groudon’s face was stiff;
it glanced back at the Colossal one with unease.
Lu Ye stood atop the Colossal one like piloting a Gundam and shouted:
“Don’t be afraid. If you can’t beat Kyogre, we’ll back you up!”
“Ree-gi!” Regigigas’ crystals flashed in agreement.
“Roar…” Groudon’s gaze softened with a hint of warmth.
This human seems underhanded…
But actually pretty decent!
Teacher Lu knew well that Hoenn’s two clods were like the two pans of a scale—neither could be allowed to fall into disadvantage.
Given the current situation, the best plan was to have the Colossal one act as referee.
If either Groudon or Kyogre gained the upper hand, they’d get a punch to keep the Godly duel fair, impartial, and public!
“Isn’t that a bit…”
Half an hour earlier, Steven had cautiously phrased his objection when he heard the proposal.
He’d wanted to say “dirty,” but decided not to.
“Don’t worry, I know this work well. Leave it to me.” Lu Ye said.
Steven: “…”
What on earth did you go through, Teacher Lu!
Now Steven stood atop Metagross, watching a huge dark shape moving in the sea, and shouted loudly:
“Careful, Teacher Lu, it’s coming!”
Lu Ye’s expression tightened as he prepared to fight again. Primal Groudon narrowed its eyes.
Boom!!
The dark shape burst through the water;
the splashed waves evaporated instantly.
Primal Kyogre flew low, beating its wings. Its cold eyes swept past Primal Groudon to the familiar figure on its back, and it paused slightly.
Gengar: “Gengar~ ( ̄▽ ̄)/” baring a grin.
Kyogre: (⊙ˍ⊙)
Crap, I’m screwed!
Hoenn’s twin gods naturally crave fighting.
Yet right now, Groudon looked at Kyogre and paused.
Battered Groudon and wounded Kyogre locked eyes in a long, profound stare.
They both glanced up at the sky where the Prismatic Meteor had disappeared.
They looked at each other again.
It was as if they said nothing, yet everything.
“Why aren’t they fighting?” Lu Ye asked softly.
“They might be preparing,” Steven replied.
At that moment, both ancient titans moved!
They turned simultaneously and headed back the way they came. One solitary figure trudged home;
the other slowly swam off.
Lu Ye: “…what’s going on?”
“When Hoenn’s twin gods fight, it isn’t always to the death. Once their desire to fight is sated, they return to slumber.”
“Maybe…” Steven mused, “Kyogre and Groudon are just tired.”
Lu Ye nodded in understanding and tentatively asked:
“So… the Hoenn crisis is over?”
A breeze-of-spring smile spread on Steven’s face.
“Yes. Except for the colossal meteor that can wipe out Hoenn in thirteen days.”
Lu Ye: “…”
That damn thing wasn’t handled at all!
“But.” Lu Ye exhaled as if utterly spent, looking at Groudon’s staggering back, and murmured:
“We can rest for a bit for now.”
The sun dipped lower, the sea burning to gold. The two ancient titans left back-to-back.
Groudon suddenly looked back and met Lu Ye’s gaze.
Lu Ye froze briefly, then nodded with a smile.
Groudon: (-^〇^-)
I think this human is alright;
we can get along!
Lu Ye thought Groudon might get a beating, but it turned out not. He reflected:
“What a shame…”
Next, they had to teleport the Colossal one back to Snowpoint Temple.
“Goodbye, Regigigas!” Lu Ye waved.
“Ree-gi—gigas.”
Regigigas stood on the golden sea, bowed its head to Lu Ye on Latias’ back, and gave a slight nod.
Colossal one nods (strikeout)… Colossal one nods · Jpg
After giving the Colossal one a few more Aura massages, its crystal flashing frequency brightened considerably.
Then, to Steven’s astonished and admiring eyes, the three pillars, as the juniors, saw their boss vanish into a white spatial fluctuation.
The battlefield suddenly fell silent.
Lu Ye quietly reached out and patted his own shoulder.
The mission to intercept Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre had been a complete success!
**
Sinnoh region, Snowpoint Temple.
As the symbol of faith for Snowpoint City, the temple needed repairs.
Brandon was stroking his chin, planning the reconstruction, when a chill ran up his spine.
He looked up: a mirror-like portal opened, and an over-eight-meter-tall Colossal one fell from the sky!
Boom!!
“Ree-gi…” The Colossal one, back to its normal size, turned into red light and flew back into its sealed stone ball, falling into slumber.
Brandon toppled into the snow, clambered up in a mess, and spat out a mouthful of packed snow.
Cautiously stepping forward, Brandon picked up the sealed stone ball and examined it, then looked up at the empty sky.
“The temple…”
Brandon murmured with contrition:
“Let’s just make it open-air.”
